Kanye West - Bittersweet Poetry

idk this sounds like chiptune but in the best way possible, wish kanye would use such playful beats in more of his songs :)

Mount Eerie - I Walk

the guy that said this single is trash clearly hasn't listened to a crow looked at me cuz wtf

Mount Eerie - A Crow Looked at Me
NR

When the rawness of an album does more talking than the refineness, it speaks measures about the passion that was put into it.

and with that said, i do not ever want to listen to this album again. not because it's bad, but because i know i'll relisten to this album as a ways to cope if i do lose someone dear to my heart.

Juice WRLD - The Pre-Party
NR

let him rest already, this is disgusting

farming money and attention off a dead man will never not be petty.

but i guess the music industry's always been fucked up, and fans will always consume whatever shit they put out.

respect to mac miller's label for doing what's right, and maybe some others that i do not know of.

learn from them, and learn how to respect a legacy before you ruin it even more.

Sampha - Lahai

how didn't i make a review for this already???

i remember watching youtbe community tabs hyping this album up, and i remember listening to this album on release, added two songs on my playlist (spirit 2.0 and suspended), and didn't think too much of it (crazy, right??)

anyways, flash forward a few months later, he dropped satellite business 2.0 with simz. I decided to relisten to this album after I loved the single release, and oh god I missed out on so much first listen.

I would ... read more

Knocked Loose - You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To

after listening to this album months ago and not liking the genre in itself, i decided to relisten to this album again and dive into the reasons as to why metalcore is so loved.

and after listening to this album again, i can see why

this album's the literal equivalent of chugging an espresso with 30 pumps

Yeat - LYFESTYLE
60

i swear to god if he took the highs from 2093 and the highs from this album and combined them into one album he would have dropped the greatest rage album of all time

other then that, i'm mostly impressed by the overall consistancy of this album, as well as the highs that were on this album
the lows weren't even that bad, but seriously, 50 songs dropped in a year is diabolical, kanye level workaholic type shit

yeat's went 2/2 this year and i really do hope he continues this ... read more

ian - Goodbye Horses
NR

ok but the position he's sitting in the album cover looks like he's constipated asf, he's truly the shit πŸ”₯

21 Savage & Metro Boomin - SAVAGE MODE II
70

this album is amazing, and i am by no means a 21 savage fan in any way, shape, or form.

Don Toliver - HARDSTONE PSYCHO
50

his best album, but i know he can do better.

Denzel Curry - Melt My Eyez See Your Future

i just love the cold blooded soul version a lot more

Drake - Nothing Was the Same
70

i miss the old drake.

Drake - Take Care

This project has virtually zero misses, what an amazing display of a young ambitious artist overachieving on a project... hopefully he continues to do more and NOT become a shitshow that drops once a year to rack up the numbers and money... right???

Kanye West - Saint Pablo

this song made me fall in love with sampha. also a top 5 kanye rapping performance. also a top 5 produced kanye song. this song feels so bittersweet and also self-accepting. although i was never a huge fan of anything off TLOP, this song reaffirms to me that kanye never misses on his outros (JIK, V1, and V2 don't count). I wish we can get more of this kanye. my favorite ye song of all time, and it's not even close for me.

Mac Miller - Good News

haven't seen the sun in a while but i heard the sky is still blue. such a devastating song.

Kid Cudi - love.

NR

never expected to see kim petras and jid on the same album but ok

Rod Wave - Last Lap
NR

inconsistant , need i say more

Ariana Grande - My Everything

perhaps my nostalgia for this album fosterered a bias that i have towards this album, but i don't care.

On peachxoxopeach's review of Magdalena Bay - Second Sleep / Star Eyes
"@peachxoxo I could see that. but at the same time, like, it’s very hard to be original. people before you have already talked about all the things you wanted to talk about, so what else are you supposed to really say about the music without coming off as pretentious. not much, really."

On Yellowslotcar's review of Mount Eerie - A Crow Looked at Me
"@Yellowslotcar huge respect for putting your opinion out. i do agree with many points you make about this work but i see this made not only for therapeutic relief for phil, but to also to help others that are overcoming death (which, of course, is the primary reason for it's critical acclaim and widespread praise. kind of similar to what ofelectricheat said). not to generate revenue. he's been making music ever since like the late 90's, so profit was probably (hopefully) not an incentive for him while releasing this to the world."

On JC99's review of Madvillain - Madvillainy
"as an abstract hip hop album, there really is no narrative. it's a snapshot of many different ideas into an amalgation of an album. there is no definitive or unifying factor that ties this album together. as for the lyricism, i'm not sure if you paid attention to the whole thing. sure, some songs touch upon common ground for many topics adjacent to many other hip hop records. i'll give you that. but saying that the wordplay and lyricism is average? come on. if you search up any video highlighting all his rhyme schemes on any song, you would see how insane they really are. plus there are so many witty one-liners i admire that you formed ur own opinion tho. it took me a full year of listening to this thing on and off to fully get it"
