Honestly the Beatles influenced tracks are my least favorite. Impossible Germany is an all time song though.
Two okay alt indie pop rock songs and the actual song Warm Glow which is genuinely a 9/10 song.
Pretty consistent album, nothing is super amazing other than Take Me Out, but I had a good time.
A lot of electronic nuances are annoying, but there’s some catchy songs on here. I Won’t Let You Down is such a bad bad song despite all of the experimentally cool things the instrumental does.
This really should be a 70-75 score… Great DJ, though? Really fucking good. Probably the best example of a pop centric indie dance punk song you’ll ever get. Might be in the minority, but it’s such a fun ass song.
EDIT: 88 -> 90, it’s a grower
Catchy, melancholic, and soothing are a few of the words you’ll hear to describe this album, but the number one word to describe this album is earnest, and unapologetically so. This album and more specifically the closing two tracks shall be put in the playbook of perfect indie folk.
I’ll thank God every day that I’m on the same planet as The Lady In My Life, the closing song from Michael Jackson’s sixth studio album, Thriller.
I think Maggie has a pretty great voice and even when she wears her influences like tattoos, I appreciate the mix of genres and trying to fit them into a little box, conceptually.
The problem is the overall songwriting that we got as a result. Unfortunately, Maggie doesn’t know how to end a song or the songs that have a semblance of an ending, I thank god is over with and get to the next one. Again, I like what I’m hearing, the production is good, I just wish I was hearing more of ... read more
It’s good, super consistent. The run from Hybrid Moments to Come Back is the biggest bright spot.
It’s a long album, and there’s a lot of okay songs, but I do really enjoy Lonely Is The Muse and Arsonist, which what the hell what a song.
Edit, I scrolled to see how people felt about Lonely Is The Muse… THAT’S WHAT IM TALKING BOUT!!!!
It’s good, and as much as I liiiiked every song, I didn’t fully love any song… except for Drowning In A Burning World. That song is peak Better Lovers.
Edit: Superman Died Paralyzed is nasty too.
It’s lesser Every Time I Die, which is still good, but not great? Idk I enjoyed the album. I’ll say the lesser songs are forgettable, but I like the production and Keith sounds good. He sounds like Keith.
It’s like 40 minutes of the same meal, but with a pinch of new spices.
This album contains Raining Blood, which is probably the greatest metal riff of all time.
Counterparts are very good at what they do, even if it’s 30-40 minutes of the same thing.
The final track taking up 1/3 of the album length is so funny.
Cool heavy moments, Will Ramos is a great vocalist, great band.
This album has no business being an hour long.
