life is this sweet. everything is awe-inspiring. i can now see why these guys had a song in the SpongeBob SquarePants Movie.
though at moments it doesn't deliver as much as 'Songs', 'Bright Future' still holds its own as one of the most heartfelt and meanignful albums i've listened to.

decided to re-listen to this on a plane ride because 'Bodys' has been on repeat lately. to say the least, that choice was more than worth it. i got so much more out of 'Twin Fantasy' than i had when i initially listened to it a few months ago. everything i didn't really like so much the first time around i now find at minimum enjoyable, and everything i loved the first time i find to be all the more amazing. overall, a beautiful album that i'll never regret ... read more
feels like watching a movie, as grand and beautiful as you can possibly get.
i'm seeing the vision. i'm seeing the influence. not exactly "peak", but still a strong project that has clearly stood the test of time over 40 years later. a fair portion of these songs are saved by their noisiness, which coat just about every texture. without it, they would be barren mid post-punk tracks with an annoying vocalist over top. luckily they aren't. bless the brits!

unironically one of, if not the best dance album of the 2020s.
favs: all
A departure from their former goth-laced dream pop into a far more ethereal approach. A lot of similarities to Heaven or Las Vegas, but this one is more consistent, imo. Probably the Cocteau Twins' most consistent and well-rounded album. Magnificent listen, will probably have you floating.
Mitski, I love You but You're Bringing Me Down
favs: IN A LAKE, WHERE'S MY PHONE, cats, IF I LEAVE, dead women, instead of here, I'LL CHANGE FOR YOU, LIGHTNING
humongous bounce back from the flop that was 'Cracker Island'. This is pretty much Plastic Beach 2 and no one can change my mind. Glad to see that 26 years in, my favorite cartoon band has no signs of slowing down!!!!
highlights: the mountain, the happy dictator, orange county, the empty dream machine, the manifesto, delirium, DAMASCSUS, casablanca, THE SAD GOD
