Injury Reserve - By the Time I Get to Phoenix
84

With the passing of one of their members, it was unclear how injury reserve would approach this album missing an essential part of what made them stand out, but somehow they manage to pull off an insane record. One which can only being described as experimental hip hop and some coining the phrase post-rap and it is clear why. This album easily stands out as being unique and so against the grain that in of itself is abrasive in nature and I love it, I love the more avant-garde surreal beats ... read more

Silk Sonic - An Evening With Silk Sonic
93

The new legendary Duo, Bruno Mars and Anderson.Paak finally make a collaboration album under the new name of Silk Sonic and it everything we expected for an explosive , sensual and lush soul record filled with elements of funk and RnB for not only a catchy mainstream soul record but one with so much replay-ability and the 2 showcase amazing synergy between each other. The only shame is the album is too short.

JPEGMAFIA - LP!
85

Before going into this record, I will admit I am not the biggest fan of JPEGMAFIA, I think veterans is great but i find the rest of his project a mixed bag and i always wanted to hear a project by him where everything was just great to me and well I think JPEGMAFIA has managed to do it for me and on a record which has 20 tracks, LP! is easily JPEGMAFIA most streamlined, well defined project to date, with no moments boring me or feeling too rigid this album is a beautiful display of experimental ... read more

IDLES - CRAWLER
83

IDLES return with their 4th studio album and even though that same aggressive modern post-punk sound is there, they has definately been a shift within their sound on CRAWLER, into a more darker introspective area of their sound centering around drug abuse and the sad realities it can bring for an impactful listen and even though its loses some steam during the second half their is alot of IDLES classics in the making such as Car Crash and the already popular The Beachland Ballroom but with ... read more

Duster - Contemporary Movement
84

It's been awhile since I have even come on to this website but I've been very busy with my personal life recently and a lot of things have changed but I'm coming back and what a better place to start that a slowcore essential, Duster sophomore album, Contemporary Movement. Keeping up with the sound they established on their debut, Contemporary Movement is a mellow and warm record but center around depressive themes of self-hatred and loneliness and ultimately even with its warming presence ... read more

Alter Bridge - Blackbird
76

Post-Grunge does get a lot of hate within the music community and some of is jusitifed, often playing it too safe with the sound and being too commercialized but Blackbird is one of those records which manages to pull the sound of quite well, now nowhere near one of the best albums of this time but wiith some great songs and some decent deeper cuts, manages to keep this record beating in its catchy self. Alongside, Myles good vocal performance the only thing thats slugs this record is how ... read more

Bruce Dickinson - Accident of Birth
80

A great solo project by the lead singer of prime Iron Maiden and solidified himself as a solo artist, Accident of Birth contains some classic epic filled heavy metal filled with some amazing songs such as Man of Sorrows and Road to Hell for a well rounded record, with amazing guitar playing, and a nice edge of sticky hooks and lyrics to make it stick out

Pearl Jam - Yield
76

Overall better than their previous release, Yield is easily their most accessible record from the 90's for some straightforward catchy alternative rock and it is effective at that. for a melodic but yet filled with angry there is a lot to resonate within this record and with the more memorable songs being fantastic and the depper cuts all being good, Yield is a solid release from the band but yet nowhere near the level of their prime.

Altar of Plagues - White Tomb

Altar of Plague's debut is a great atmospheric post black metal release with moments of pure brilliance and although they would go on to make better records, White Tomb stills stands up their in the 2000's atmospheric black metal scene with its dark apocalyptic atmosphere surrounding the listener for an epic adventure.

Haken - Visions
87

2 years before their release of The Mountain which is easily for me their best album, they release vision which is often close for most for being their favorite Haken album but for me personally it just not on the same level as The Mountain, don't get me wrong this album is fantastic with no boring moments a melodic and complex structure which is breathtaking fused with elements of symphonic metal to create a powerful album and helps build an atmosphere, Visions is a beautifully crafted ... read more

Blackmore's Night - Under a Violet Moon
79

One of their better records and one of their most famous the contemporary Folk Rock group Blackmore's Night bring a nocturnal medieval inspired soft album which has some impressive highs such as Catherine Howard's Fate and the well known-ish self titled track but at 16 tracks spreads itself too thin for a strong album filled with some under appreciated folk music.

Low - The Curtain Hits the Cast
87

Almost nearly my favorite Low album, containing their most introspective depressing and bittersweet lyrics, if there is one thing The Curtain Hits the Cast excels at its lyrically a masterpiece and with a soft dark yet calming atmosphere built upon its soundscape it perfectly captures that lonely feeling down with some of their best songs such as The Plan and Over the Ocean, the records deserves to be remember as a Slowcore classic

Wayne Shorter - Schizophrenia
79

Not my favorite Wayne Shorter album but easily near the top and one of his better records, Schizophrenia is as the title would suggest a master piece of chaotic technical improvisation and although some parts can be duller than others especially on tracks such as playground there are many amazing moments to make up for it for a great Post-Bop record.

Tubeway Army - Replicas

A great classic synthpop record turns the dial up on the synthesizers to 11, for quite a futuristic almost science fiction filled soundscape which works well with quite the cold and distant lyrical content for arguably Gary Numan's most interesting record he has put out

AJJ - People Who Can Eat People Are the Luckiest People in the World
91

AJJ, fundamentally at their best for 25 minute of some of the most impactful, pessimistic, misanthropic lyrics to come out in the 2000's but yet played in such an uplifting way within the folk soundscape for quite a sarcastic release and one which for its short runtime delves into quite interesting topics and with the whole concept being doing perfectly it is a musical experience everyone should partake.

Uncle Tupelo - No Depression
81

Uncle Tupelo's debut is a great introduction to one of the best and underappreciated alt-country / Americana singers from the 90's with some of his most catchy songs such as Graveyard shift and some strong ballads such as the self titled song for a bittersweet album filled with song center around alcoholism but yet there such a strong sense of energy bursting out for a fun but warming listen.

L'Enfant Sauvage, is no where near my favorite from the legendary progressive death metal band and in fact, when it came out and i first listen to it i would of rated it a lot lower but I can't lie, this record has grown on me so much over the past decade with songs like The Axe, The Gift of Gift and the self titled, this record is one of their most heaviest and aggressive releases, whilst offering some really introspective moments and lyrics for a well balanced listen.

A great explosive, raw and noisy bluesy post-punk record by a combination of some of the best names from the 80's from Nick Cave, Rowland S. On Katie Pruitt - Expectations
"I find the vocal melodies easily the strongest point of the album and the lyrics are not subtle but i think it works well within the album favor because it not really a subtl record itself in my opinion. From what i remember i found the instrumentals and production rather boring and the overall sound of the album to be dull which meant that the lyrics and the album as a whole didn't really connect with me. I haven't listen to it in a while but i can't remember much about it expect Out Of The Blue that has grow on me a bit."

On The Who - Tommy
"I don't just do my track rating by track by track. I do it by if the track adds to the album has an experience. Tommy is a very good record and if i didn't have the track ratings it would still get the same score mainly due the concept itself doesn't add much to the my overall enjoyment of the album. Every track is based on my enjoy-ability whether that be production, lyrics, melodies, instrumentals, transition into other songs, its involved and importance within the album, and whether it has impacted me personally (which at the end of the day it subjective) etc. I have listened to this album plenty of times but most of the time i feel especially with this album i wouldn't add anything new to the conversation. Maybe i just don't fully grasp that concept and therefore can't appreciated as much as other people but at least not everyone is going to agree with music."

"@kareenak yh out of all the K-pop band, BTS is the one with the most freedom but I am taking about the genre as a whole and even Jessica Hyun-ju Ho said they are genuine friends but she even stated that many bands in the genre don't like each other and that is the aspect I am talking about. Also, you are trying to say that just because i have this view point that it is xenophobiac when i stated that I like the band Otoboke beaver, and i also like; Akira Yamaoka, BABYMETAL, Run River North and Yuna, music from the other parts of the world in fact has some great stuff out there which i probably haven't heard i, but i don't like restricting people just because their are musicians "
