If I had to point to a single album that got me (everyone likes music but significantly more) into music, it would be IGOR. Definitely the first concept album I was even consciously aware of.
And even now so many years later I can still come back to this album with much love. It's sooo good.
While probably far from his greatest achievement, this is by far my favourite of Kanye's discography.
Amazing production, unforgettable rhymes and skits just as funny as those from the college dropout if not better. Some of my favourite samples ever, most notably for me Gone sampling Otis Redding, Roses sampling Bill Withers and My Way Home sampling the great Gil-Scott Heron. Just really great stuff across the board.
One of those timeless albums that have been with you since childhood, never get old, have and always will have you coming back for more.
Maybe because I watched it just the other day but is it fair to call this the 2001: A Space Odyssey of rock music?
Like for many others this was one of the albums that got me interested (like passionately) not just in Kanye or Rap music but music in general.

Such pure art, Kendrick used his TPAB discards to release his rawest experience yet. In ways it’s better than an ‘actual album’, focusing purely on the music and nothing else, not even track titles. It’s undistilled art.
