I don’t know why but this album just wasn’t that exciting to me
Sometimes it just doesn’t click
The B side of this album resonated with me in a way that non of slowthais previous music has come close to. It makes me think of the time I spent isolated in lockdown with my own thoughts.
I think the B side slightly wins out over the other for me, which is really the only small negative I can say about the album. The A side is still great, but I tend to find myself jumping straight past it when I fancy giving the album a listen.
From my perspective this is absolutely slowthais best work, and ... read more
I really really like it, but not as much as their previous stuff. I’ve listened to this 3 times so far, once while cooking once in bed and then once while getting ready this morning. I’ve found myself losing myself in it more each time.
Few songs on here I thought were particularly excellent: Bethlehem, Girl (2025), Burrow, What Matters Most
As with previous Men I Trust projects I’ll probably end up listening to this a tonne over the next few months.
Overall though really ... read more
Unbelievable debut album from the massively talented Sarah Kinsley
Absolutely breathtaking, I feel like she has a lot of room to grow and the potential to drop a generational album next. Will be waiting for it :)
Might be my least favourite of her full length albums so far. However there’s still a lot to love, some particular highs that were always destined to be massive hits and have propelled the album past the previous beabadoobee fanbase, great performance as always from her.
Bedroom pop got a budget and it sounds pretty nice :) weird that I prefer it before though.
Beatopia is still peak
Whilst it doesn’t live up to the two albums released after, this is undoubtedly a great listen.
Worth a listen if you are a fan of his later work and haven’t heard it, but this album definitely walked so they could run
Likely to be considered Pendulums best work
Although for nostalgia reasons I prefer In Silico
But definitely their most consistent project
Big time Gorillaz fan and I think this may be their worst album
Just unfortunately doesn’t make a huge impact on me. Fairly generic and unimaginative, only a few memorable songs, very little cohesion on the tracklist.
It’s just very firmly mediocre, and to be honest for a discography as insane as Gorillaz I suppose it was inevitable eventually. I guess the next album will show whether this was a temporary slump or a permanent loss of quality for the band
My favourite album of 2024
Zero misses, incredibly consistent whilst being wildly experimental, coherent tracklist, amazing vocals and production
Literally has it all
I want to say that I think the 100 is recency bias but I really do genuinely think this will always be a perfect album in my mind
I would point out specific songs here but they are all seriously so good. If I had to pick a favourite it’s probably Cry for Me
In 2022 I listened to Laufeys “Everything I Know About Love” and thought, oh yeah Chet Baker exists. Maybe I should actually listen to an album of his front to back.
So this was the one I picked, and found myself absolutely lost for 45 minutes in what I can only describe as music that sounds like love.
Now it stands as one of my absolute comfort albums that I constantly try to introduce people to.
Possibly my most played vinyl of all time? Unfortunately I don’t get a ... read more
My absolute favourite Kanye album (yes massive daft punk bias). For the rest of his discography I find myself going back and forth on what I love but this may be the only Kanye album that has not a single miss front to back. I think if you removed anything at all the album would start to fall flat, whilst other projects from him bloat in areas.
Think the production on this album just really suits him, even if it is a more experimental project.
This will always to me be where his career ... read more
I was played a few select songs from the album and thought I had to hear how it all comes together.
This feels like a very mature album, an artist that has found their sound and worked hard to reach the absolute heights of it.
Sometimes an album like this reminds me that music doesn’t need to be insanely grand to completely envelop me in its sound.
Highlights include Rudolph, On My Knees and Wristwatch for me.
As this is a genre that I don’t dive into often (country rock ... read more
