This album feels like seeing life through a broken prism where every shard reflects a different emotion, a different moment. There’s a drastic shift in tone between tracks like “Y’all Can’t Stand Right Here” and “Empire Blvd.”, or even early on with “Woke Up and Asked Siri How I’m Gonna Die”, and it’s that contrast that makes the whole thing feel alive. You can sense heavy MF DOOM inspiration in the way the beats twist around the ... read more
I''LL TAKE CARE OF YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUOMG ??? OMG ???? Isa that what's art all about... easiest 5/5 of my life, and it's meant to be a surprise album ?????? I cannot express how much did this album brought me.... I never danced this hard to an album before, GOOD LAWRD
Thank you mom for the recommendation 🤓☝️How can one sound so original yet so good ??? I can sense how this influenced so much recent music and how Björk is a pillar in modern music. I love the type of production and instrument she used in some of the songs (cover me for example). One point that is very important to me is the fact that most of the songs have a sense of uniqueness but they eventually are all linked one to the next which is really pleasant to the ear! Thanks mom, great ... read more
WTF.....Pop out is a 10/10 raige bait !! Oh wait... that's the entire album ??????To be fair some song are good (s/o TRIM and I SEEEEE YOU BABY BOI) and most of the featuring savec most of the album (s/o Skepta and Kendrick) but DAMN that album is filled with junk... Most beats feel so repetitive and don't get me started on some entire songs (ahem POP OUT ahem... again....).However I feel like the album is saving itself a bit at then ending by having some more diversity and some good ... read more
GRRRRR GRRRRR BOUH BOUHOnce again rapping about possessions I will never have, Westside Gunn blesses us with 12, an album so luxurious that just listening to it made my bank account overdrawn. From the moment the first track starts, you can practically smell the rare cologne and hear the rustling of designer trench coats in the background. Gunn's signature ad-libs are sharper than ever—his grrrrrrrrrr boom-boom-boom-boom could probably make a vegan reconsider their diet. The ... read more
We are eating good with that one, since it's a tape there's not really a theme or a story but just TWO ENTIRE FUCKING HOUR of pure rap. Point to the fact that the beats are very different from one another and there's a lot of different vibes throughout the tape but in a good way. I didn't have any skip which is kinda surprising since there are 48 songs. Waiting for volume 5 in two years (hopefully 😼)
A really good album with some amazing lyrics and an awesome switch in rhythmic and style throughout the tracks. I felt a bit too fast, like there weren't enough songs in this album !! Might give Mick Jenkins some more listening time :)
One life of despair and torture please 🤓☝️No but without joking, I love you Tomcbumpz. I love how mind-clearing and numbing his music is, however I think it is slightly less better than the previous one and a bit repetitive but still a wonderful album !
When it comes to old-school rap my feet start kicking in the air and I get all happy so believe me when it landed on this album I was more than a happy person. Even though I felt some repetition here and there that was a real cool / chill album. Some really big inspiration for modern hip-hop / rap. But what really got me was the words delivery and their pace while rapping, I found it very unique and pleasant, although it was sometimes not matching the beat (but in a good way). Anyway, if you ... read more
How to be a cool person 101 : listen to jazzAt first I was skeptical and thought I might end up on an experimental album but I was wrong ! It is indeed an important album in jazz culture and what was jazz at that time, most of the album feels like a discussion between the saxophone and the other instrument where sometimes one yaps to another and vice versa. But overall I'd say it's a great album to listen to whenever you want but be ready to embark on a dancing jazz adventure.
Who doesn't need Kali uchis in his life 😔🙏I was actually really happy when it landed on this album and it didn't disappoint. I was a bit scared at the beginning because the album was a bit repetitive but it was actually just a feeling, it flows well the tracks have a good pacing and they're so sweet to listen to. This album feels like a sweet romantic walk through a park with your lover because of how sweet and light each song is except for the last one which feels like the ... read more
Soo uh yeah 🧍🏻 it was a weird yet interesting listen, this album has some great ideas and some great propositions but it was some that are less valuable and some horrendous ones (s/o "Rock N Roll is Dead"). However I found this album quite intriguing in the different switch of style throughout the listen. If I would recommend it to someone ? Yes, but only if they have a bit of experience with Peggy.
I was pleased to go on Spotify and discover (within the 5 minutes of this album dropping) that Kendrick dropped and one hell of a good album to be honest. Everything is catchy and feels really pleasant and... Uh... What is happening?... MUSSSSSSTARRRRRDDDDDD !!!!!Anyway, yeah, a really good album overall which is going to be used in the Superbowl and will be talked about but not in the way Mr Morales and The Big Steppers did.
Freddie dredd dropping an album was not on my list but is really nice. The album feels like a breath of fresh air but with some inspiration taken in past releases. The album feels like not enough imo, I kinda went by too fast and would've been better with like 5-10 more minutes to it.Music wise this album was a banger to listen to, with some beats being hard af and a nice conclusion with "NOTHING INTO SOMETHING".
I was a bit skeptical at first but it was like for the first 30 seconds. I'm actually quite bummed out to discover this album / artist only through the death of Ka.But more on the album it was great, the continuity of the beats made it even more pleasant to listen to. And the story made it even more pleasing, I truly felt like a disgrace to my people and inside the samurai circle.Rest in peace Ka.
So this is what current rap emanates from ! We can see a lot of current rappers inspiration being taken in this album which sounds really by the way, most of the time it felt like one big track with different lyrics, and that would be the only flaw I could see, the similarities in most of the beats. However this album is incredible everything else is fine flawlessly and is really pleasant to listen.
Oh.It is not an album, it is a journey through reminiscing about our childhood, the long afternoons playing on split screen with your little brother, the survival with your friends, the huge yet really ugly buildings you made in creative. This album feels like nostalgia would be perceived and that is phenomenal.
Lara gang 😼Definitely something different than "BEFORE BABYLONE BURNT" but still very good, a bit more fast paced in my opinion but still feels like a journey through the desert. Some of the beats take some roots in African culture (if I'm not mistaken) which makes the EP very personal and doesn't feel like just a copy and paste from other projects / artists.
SHARATE À MON CRÉATEUR 😔🙏Ooh yeaaaaahhhhh 😼 that's why you have to search in the french underground, what a chill / melodic album to listen to. There are some very ambitious yet very nice and original beats. Jeune lion is someone with a vast universe and it is very rewarding to indulge in it.
