Let Down underrated
A man went into the woods and hooked up a speaker to a gong, and got his buddhist monk friends and their impressive pan pipe collection, and decided that yes, this would be the day they really piss off Steven, 73. His crime? Steven was a landlord. Yes, 'was'. Steven's eardrums were exploded instantly, as was his heart. Thank you Phil Elverum and Arrington de Dionyso for ridding the world of another landlord with your weird fucking gong speaker drone machine. ... read more

These are definitely tests. Cool to hear some of the stuff that’d eventually get polished into Don’t Wake Me Up though.

Those bastards at Spotify have been attempting to shove this album down my throat for what seems like the last 3 years or so. It’s ALWAYS in my recommended because I added I’m So Tired and Afterthought to my big playlist from a discover weekly years ago.
FUCK YOU SPOTIFY (obligatory)

Fun Fact: I’m actually a feature on this album!
You know the barking on Dogs?
That’s me!
Yessir!
That’s me!
They couldn’t find any real dogs, so I did all the barking instead!

I listened to this whilst playing a truck driving game to try and maximise my enjoyment. However, it turns out that Free Bird clears everything else so unbelievably hard that I ended up more disappointed than anything else.

I've been putting off listening to this for a while. Phil Elverum has become my favourite artist in the last year and now I've gone through all his main projects (I'm definitely going through all the side stuff after this), but yesterday I bought a guitar from a charity shop for £10 and I'd like to learn to play some of his songs. I've not touched a guitar in maybe 12 or so years, so it's going to take me a while to learn and I thought I ... read more

SoundCloud kept feeding me Jet2 adverts when I listened to this.
Solid beats from the big clock, even if a little rough round the edges in some parts.
I have one request: sample the Jet2 advert in your next project, because as we all know, nothing 🚫 beats ✊ a jet2 ✈️✈️ holiday 🥳🎁and right now 😆😮you can save £50 💲 per person. 👥 that's £200 💸 off 😳for a family🥺 of 4!! ... read more

I totally forgot to review this on here.
Very very nice piano piece. Not much else to be said.

Listening to this must be how my mum feels when she’s on her phone and I’m trying to talk to her. I’m listening to the album and nothings sticking to me. It’s like I’m lathered up in oil and every single song is slipping past me. It just felt very run of the mill barring a few moments where the production gets to shine. The only parts that really grabbed my attention were when things got a bit too country for my liking. Nothing ruins my day ... read more

I had a friend tell me that Don't Fear The Reaper was one of this bands more mid songs.
He was wrong.

I did NOT look at the genre before I pressed play on the cute kitties song. Frog, you troll, you.

Thanks to @meeple for the recommendation
This cheered me up after an afternoon of filling in j*b applications. The first track instantly reminded me of that electroplankton game for the DS. The production is so magical it almost felt like a dastardly witch had reconfigured me into a rainsstick and left me out in a storm for 44 minutes and 6 seconds.
Gonna go be annoying and force a friend listen to this rn.

Finally! An answer to the question “What would happen if Björk were a white boy that liked to say the n-word?”!!!

Turns out the first two singles mog the rest of the album pretty hard. Still a good Gizz release, but I was hoping they’d lean more into the sound of those first two tracks instead of going back to their “usual” sound for most of the album.
