It’s quite amazing and it’s better than The Bends, but I don’t honestly think this is deserving of the second greatest album of all time in my own opinion. It didn’t feel as grand or profound as I was expecting, which may be the victim of expectation. I will come back to this as I feel my opinion could change, but at the moment I thoroughly enjoyed it but can’t help but feel the tiniest bit disappointed.
Fairly generic and boring, there were only small parts here and there, especially the end of the last track, that really stood out.
Damn this is good, Denzel has to lean into this high energy jazz style more in the future, loved this.
Lewis Capaldi finds a way to use his amazingly talented voice in some of the worst ways that I can think of. I feel like I’m listening to a nonstop karaoke performance of an amateur vocalist who decides to belt and ruin the effect of almost every song.
This is really bad, the good parts were at best only slightly tolerable but the fact that it’s 80 mins of garbage takes away pretty much all value. Probably the worst album of 2023 so far.
This didn’t really click for me as much as it has for others, there were some moments I really enjoyed but it seemed a bit messy and not really my style.
This was way more enjoyable than I thought it was going to be, almost all of the tracks brought an addictive energy and delivered in their own right. I think it maybe lacks direction slightly, but apart from that it’s a solid listen.
There were some parts that really stood out and I enjoyed, but it felt too short and not cohesive enough to string together a really enjoyable listening experience. There is potential though.
They were some songs I liked, but overall it just dragged and felt so uninteresting and safe. I’m not anti-Ed, I actually think some of his earlier albums were decent but this one is not it.
Actually think this is fairly overrated; Lost is the only track that really stood out, the rest were ok and I liked how it was phrased but it doesn’t feel nearly as impactful or precise as other people make it out to be.
At first I thought it was kinda messy and really didn’t live up to the later stuff, but I can appreciate the 80s thematically driven view. It feels messy in the right ways, but just doesn’t stand out or have the potency that Kendrick develops later on. Still a very solid album no doubt.
I’m not super familiar with jack Harlow apart from his radio songs, and I’ve mostly written him off as a commercially successful rapper that doesn’t have a lot of credit or substance to stand out on his own. But this album has proved me wrong, it shows genuine potential and vulnerability that pairs well with the short and snappy runtime. It feels slightly frail and thin which maybe holds it back, but I’m still quite impressed.
Some absolute bangers, I felt it was quite too heavy but still thoroughly enjoyed this groovy style. One of the better commercially sounding albums this year for sure.
Kanye definitely goes back to back following TCD with this. It’s a very solid listen, carrying on that iconic sound that is almost impossible to replicate nowadays. I think where this doesn’t match up to its predecessor is it feels a bit bloated in the wrong ways, and not all songs match the energetic tones that made TCD what it was.
Nothing crazy, this is my first introduction to revdveil and there’s definitely potential there but I’m not overly impressed
So gorgeous, the dark undertone of themes coupled with phoebe’s airy but impactful voice makes for an ethereal experience that seems to take control of your emotions.
Feels like the perfect prelude to Igor, but I don’t mean that I’m a way that takes away from this album on its own. Beautifully crafted, probably on the same level as CMIYGL for me I can’t really pick between the two.
It’s a lot of fun and super enjoyable and concise with the snappy runtime. BIRDZ was by far the best and I’m addicted s after one listen. My gripes are about having so many interludes on such a short album, as well as somewhat uninspiring lyrics or performances here and there that didn’t match up to the energy of the album overall.
