Kali Uchis - Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios) ∞
85

This is probably the sexiest album I've listened to all year. As Igor once said, "I think I'm falling in love". I just don't know what I am in love with more: Kali Uchis or this album. Either way, I feel like the world got a little bit better ever since this album dropped. This album is very smooth and confident. I love Isolation so much. I thought that album was amazing, but Sin Miedo, which is her first Spanish album, might be better.

"la luna enamorada" starts off the ... read more

Aesop Rock - Spirit World Field Guide
89

Hello everybody! I hope you all are doing well. If anybody is wondering I am pretty happy. That is mostly because of this new Aesop Rock album: Spirit World Field Guide. HOLY FUCKING SHIT MAN! This album is AMAZING!!! Aesop Rock has been in the game for over two decades now and he is still able to make impressive albums like this. With this project, Aesop was able to make a last-minute run for album of the year.

Aesop is one of the most talented and consistent artists in the underground ... read more

Action Bronson - Only For Dolphins
81

Action Bronson is a very interesting character. He has his hand in a little bit of everything. He is a writer, chef, actor, and of course rapper. Although he is very likable and well respected, his music has never really been talked about. I assume his past material didn't really excite anybody, but this new album should definitely be talked about a lot more. I really feel like Action Bronson found a lane that he can succeed in with this new album.

The instrumentals on this album are a lot ... read more

Joji - Nectar
75

I have been a fan of Joji since his Filthy Frank days. I have enjoyed his music and progression as an artist. Unfortunately, Joji has yet to drop an album that has blown me away. Leading up to Nectar I was hoping this would be the one. Each single Joji dropped was amazing. Although I did enjoy the album, I did end up becoming a little bit disappointed. Good album, but it wasn't what I was expecting.

The reason why I was so hyped for this album was because of the amazing singles that were ... read more

Justin Bieber - Changes
26

I don't want to be that guy that just hates on Justin Bieber, but I am not a fan of this album. I never have been a fan of Justin's music, but he did have some good songs in the past. Unfortunately, this album has either mid, boring, or straight-up horrible tracks.

Before I go in, let's start with the good. There's not really much to say, but let's try to stay positive. The first track, "All Around Me", isn't that bad. He starts off the album sounding good. His singing is genuinely ... read more

070 Shake - Modus Vivendi
78

Like many others, I first discovered 007 Shake through that amazing feature she did on Kanye's "Ghost Town". Her passionate performance left a great first impression on many people including me. When I found out she was dropping an album I was really hyped for it. Luckily, this album mostly lived up to those high expectations.

The album starts off with "Don't Break The Silence". This track starts off the album by introducing the listener to the new world we landed in. That ... read more

James Blake - Before
86

James Blake is getting me so hyped right now. After releasing a couple of great singles, an impressive cover, and now this EP, I can't wait for a new James Blake album. If it is anything like his recent material we could be getting something amazing.

This very short EP starts off with "I Keep Calling". This track is basically James wanting this girl he likes to show him affection, but she doesn't. He keeps calling and calling, but she doesn't answer. I really like how the ... read more

Childish Gambino - 3.15.20
80

CONTROVERSIAL OPINION TIME: I love this album! Yes, this is by far not one of Gambino's best projects. Because The Internet and Awaken My Love is so much better than 3.15.20. With that said, I do think this is a very underrated release. This album is weird and random. It is chaotic and messy but in a good way. Even though I understand why people wouldn't like this album, the many twists and turns make this album a fun listen for me.

One of the reasons why I love this album is because of the ... read more

mgk - Tickets To My Downfall
10

I would say stick to rapping, but his rapping is not that much better than this shit. I don't even want to sound like a hater, but what is this shit? I am sure I can find better punk music stumbling into a middle school talent show. I am not even an avid pop-punk listener, but even I can tell this shit is generic as fuck. Please MGK do us a favor and just stop. PLEASE STOP MAKING MUSIC!

The production off this album has no edge to it. Again, I don't listen to punk music, but I am pretty sure ... read more

Gorillaz - Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez
90

This might be my most biased sounding review yet. I try not to be biased, but one of my favorite bands of all time just dropped one of their best albums in years. OF COURSE I ENDED UP LOVING THIS ALBUM! Gorillaz are back to form after the release of their latest album.

In this album, Gorillaz does something drastically different from past albums. Instead of making a conceptual album with some kind of narrative, they ended up focusing on making hits. That is exactly what they did. THEY MADE HIT ... read more

Slauson Malone 1 - Vergangenheitsbewältigung (Crater Speak)
86

Slauson Malone is a rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer from New York. Although he has been making music with the group Standing on the Corner, I first discovered him when he released his debut album A Quiet Farwell, 2016–2018. Although I didn’t understand the appeal at first, A Quiet Farwell quickly grew on me and it ended up becoming my third favorite album released last year. I like describing this album as audible depression because of how dark and heartbreaking the album ... read more

6ix9ine - TattleTales
39

I like to give everybody a chance when I listen to music. I feel like it's petty and childish to not want to listen to something because you don't like the artist. I also don't like how close-minded people are before jumping into an album. You are just forcing yourself to have a horrible listening experience. I try my best to be open-minded and give everybody a chance so that my reviews can be as genuine as possible. With that said, I do not like this album. There are some good moments, but ... read more

Nas - King's Disease
77

This is by far some of Nas's best material in a minute. Nas was able to remind everybody why he is considered one of the greatest to ever do it. He doesn't do this by rapping about his accomplishments or bringing newer artists down. He does this by simply just doing what he does best: rap. With help from Hit-Boy, Nas was able to prove that he still has some fuel in the tank. He still got it, BABY!

Hit-Boy provided the perfect production for Nas. Not only does the beat sound mature, soulful, ... read more

Rich Brian - 1999
74

Rich Brian is one of my favorite up and coming rappers, so I am clearly going to have a small bias for this guy. I really enjoyed his first two albums. Amen is a cool trap album with some underappreciated songs like "Cold" and "Arizona". The Sailor is filled with tons of experimentation. It is so much grander and lush. "Yellow" is such a beautiful track. He has been consistently improving till now with the release of 1999. I definitely don't hate the Ep, but this ... read more

redveil - niagara
70

Before I get into this review, I do want to rant for a little bit. The twitter beef between Fantanos fanbase and Hip Hop Twitter (HHT) is honestly really pathetic. I've watched the full clip of the incident and it wasn't as bad as people made it seem. A lot of people got way too sensitive and turned it into a bigger thing than it actually was. That doesn't mean Fantano was a total angel. He was very annoying when he was mocking HHT on Twitter. I don't blame him for mocking HHT. HHT is filled ... read more

Poppy - I Disagree
87

I was anticipating this album and I am happy to say I am not disappointed. This album is by far the cutest and scariest thing I've listened to this year. Although the combination of pop and metal is not new, I feel like Poppys takes on this style is very fresh. Although the premise seems pretty novelty, this album should be taken seriously because of how great this album turned out.

Right out of the gate, "Concrete" showcases what to expect throughout the album. It is metal as hell, ... read more

Don Toliver - Heaven Or Hell
73

Don Toliver might be my new favorite mainstream artist. With his unique singing voice, Don Toliver was quickly able to stand out in the saturated music scene. He has been killing it this year. He dropped a lot of hits! Although there are flaws in his work, I do think this is a great trap record.

The album starts off with the title track. It has a very futuristic beat. I love it when the synths build up during the hook. Dons rapping and singing is smooth. I think this chill track ends off with ... read more

Tkay Maidza - Last Year Was Weird, Vol. 2
87

I've been telling people on twitter and youtube to not sleep on this EP because it is amazing. This EP is filled with 8 tracks. They are very different from each other and they are all fire. She can be soulful in one song and off-kilter in the other. It's incredible how much variety this short EP packed in.

The EP starts off with "My Flowers". It is a very laid back track with a good hook and some baby butt smooth rapping. From the start, Tkay shows off her talented singing and ... read more

Aminé - Limbo
75

Limbo is the first Aminé project I have ever listened to. I have listened to some songs and features from him, but they never intrigued me enough to warrant a deep dive into his discography. The reason I gave this album a listen was not because of Aminé. It was because of all of the guest features. After listening to Limbo I am now a new fan. I have been sleeping on Aminé for way too long.

I am very impressed with Aminé and his performances. I knew he was a decent ... read more

Mac Miller - Circles
90

This is the saddest and most beautiful way to end a legendary career. Mac Miller was one of the most respected rappers before he passed. Unfortunately, drugs got the best of him. Ever since Mac's death, there was a missing feeling in the rap community. Although the missing feeling is still there, rap fans got some closure with Circles.

Circles is a moody and beautifully orchestrated MASTERPIECE. The instrumentals are very serene and peaceful. As if Mac made the instrumentals from heaven. The ... read more
