Playboi Carti - Whole Lotta Red

EDIT: Listening back to it, I see the ideas it brought more clearly now and how it is influential to the hip hop landscape. Still think the album has some songs, which I feel like could be felshed out more and it still feels like a bit of a slog to listen through front to back. But overall enjoying this much more than before.

While this album was definitely overhyped, I also think it's not as bad as some people make it out to be. However, Die Lit and ST are still leagues better than ... read more

Future & Lil Uzi Vert - Pluto x Baby Pluto

I think the best way to sum this record up is that Patek is still the best thing that came out of this collaboration.

The expectations for this album weren't even that high even though it theoretically had all the right parts to be one of the better trap records this year. Both Uzi and Future had, imo, strong outings this year with Eternal Atake and High Off Life. DJ Esco as an executive producer had me excited since he is also behind some of Futures best work and the production credits aren't ... read more

Benny the Butcher - Burden of Proof

Benny and Hit-Boy come through with beautiful production, stellar lyricism and topical focus on this album, which makes this one of the best hip-hop records of this year imo as of right now.

Throughout this record Benny's rapping about drug dealing and his tough conditions growing up and coming up in the industry, however he makes that story so much more compelling by basically humbling himself with saying that it could've been anyone that makes it out of his conditions but he put the amount ... read more

I thought this would be funny after the melon review, but at least they're headstrong. I managed to listen up to track 6, how far did you guys get? :D

The Microphones - Microphones in 2020
NR

I don't think that it's adequate for me to rate this album, since I'm not acquainted with the discography of the microphones and can therefore not really feel nostalgic about the microphones. Nostalgia is, strangely enough though, what I felt while listening to this, it's hard to not feel nostalgic when someone's presenting their experiences in such a poetic, artful and beautiful way. It makes one reflect on their life their experiences, their memories. This behemoth of a song also enforces ... read more
