A lot of the singles from this are fantastic and a pile of some of their best songs. But then you have the rest of the album which unfortunately is not nearly as good. It’s not awful, but very overrated. Fav tracks: American Idiot, Holiday, Boulevard of Broken Dreams
This year has been blessing us with wonderful synth pop releases and this is no exception. People Who Aren’t There Anymore is my first Future Island record and it has me really excited to go back and check out the rest of their discography! I love the vocal delivery on this, the singer has a real unique voice that I dig quite a bit. Also really like the flow on this thing, it never slows down for too long and keeps the energy flowing. A really vibey album I’ve found myself just ... read more
After the first track I did a lil forward readjustment upon realizing this sounded really interesting. And my god it kept it up. Everything here sounds super clean and well put together, sometimes even leaning into some more goth sounding tendencies. Allie’s vocals really shine here, especially on tracks like Off With Her Tits where the bridge is just insane. That bass on Girl With No Face is so good, I need that injected into my veins. Not a single song misses on here, just an incredible ... read more
Mk.gee makes a very spacey and dreamy atmosphere caked in melancholy. Has only grow on me the more I listen to it. Fav tracks: Dream Police, Are You Looking Up, Rylee & I
Some neat ideas but the instrumentation and vocals feel so overproduced it loses me more times than not. Kinda feels like discount MCR. Least fav tracks: King of the Damned, Lifeless Stars, Fever Dream
A calm and soothing listen but maybe too much at times. Felt like the songs just kinda droned on and lost me at points. Lego Ring I found to be unlistenable with the lyrics and Yachty feature which I don’t feel works at all. Some decent songs but not sure how much I’ll revisit this. Fav tracks: Undressed at the Symphony, Thinking About You, Wanna Quit All the Time
With a couple albums already under her belt, debut is more of a debut of a more electronic sound. Normally with an artists first foray into things you comment on how it’s alright but more importantly you can see the seeds of the things to come. But here Björk nailed exactly what she wanted to be and stands tall along the rest of her catalog. While more electronic she delves into several different sounds which are all pulled off incredibly well. The beautiful plucked strings on Like ... read more
If you have ever felt disappointed Panic! Never made another album similar to Pretty Odd, well boy do I have some good news for you! Fav tracks: You Are the Moon, Sweet Tangerine, We Intertwined
An album so bad my jaw actually dropped at the end of the last track oh my god. Least fav tracks: Fifty, The Nashville I Know, Cold Beer
I’d rarely give an album a straight 0 as there is at least SOMETHING to give the tiniest compliment. But no. Everything here is laughably bad. The songs sound like ass, the politics are pathetic, and worst of all he sounds so pretentious through the whole thing. Just a complete mess of an album. Least fav tracks: Your America, Freedom of Speech, White Devil
The vocals here are so soothing and equally matched with soft calming instrumentation. Whether you listen casually or pay it close attention it is a rewarding listen all the way through. Fav tracks: January, February, July
It’s groovy, funky, and incredibly fun. They give me Magdalena Bay vibes which is some of the highest praise I could give someone. Fav tracks: Shadowbanned, Far Away, Sink Into (Your Love)
Paramore return to a more rock sound but now with almost two decades under their belt they sound better than ever in the genre. I was initially worried this would be a regression for the band but no, they deliver on all fronts. It sounds great, the lyrics are on point, it serves bop after bop. What more can ya ask for, honestly? Fav tracks: Crave, The News, Thick Skull
Now this right here is peak Paramore. These songs have hooks for days, the production is clean and shiny as hell, the lyrics are incredibly dark but pair together so well with the larger themes of the album. Hayley talked about this albums title coming from seeing someone laughing but then coming back down to earth, what thoughts made them stop enjoying that? How many of us are hiding behind this facade of happiness when we are plagued by these thoughts that constantly drag us back down? 26 is ... read more
Paramore switch up with the self titled and it is a breath of fresh air that was greatly needed. This is the start of what really made me fall in love with the band. The opener Fast in My Car still shows they can do a rock sound but adding in more pop elements that really give it a more distinct sound. The interludes on this are so chipper and fun it feels like a real bright spot whenever they pop in on the track list. Past releases have been brought down by some real throw away songs I ... read more
Perhaps I’ll get crucified for this, but I don’t feel like this album is as good as ever says. It’s good, I like it! Some real bangers on here, especially the opening run of songs. Careful, Ignorance, Playing God, these are all tracks that really lives up to the hype people have behind this one. But man the back half of this album REALLY loses steam. The three song run from Feeling Sorry to Where the Lines Overlap just do nothing for me at all and really kill the pacing of ... read more
I like this but I feel like I like it a lot less than a lot of other people. This is the first album of theirs where something really interesting and promising starts to peek out. Misery Business is an anthem and well deserves the attention it still continues to get to this day. Maybe one of my favorite Paramore deep cuts is Fences. The melody on the verses is beyond fun and catchy, a real highlight for me. There’s a handful of tracks I don’t really care for like Miracle or We Are ... read more
Nothing bad, but nothing great either. By far their weakest release to date and filled with a lot of “oh I haven’t thought of that track in years. Anyways” type of songs. The high point in my opinion comes at the very end with My Heart. The only Paramore to have these harsh screams on it which as little emo trash I enjoyed hearing quite a bit. Fav tracks: My Heart, Conspiracy, Emergency
This used to be the shit when I was like, 8 years old. Looking back on it now though… it is not nearly as hype as I found it back then. Tracks like Monster belong in flightfootwarrior warrior cats amv’s which is in some way praise I suppose. If they stuck to being Christian Three Days Grace I could see how this could be kind of enjoyable, but a lot of the tracks here don’t stick to that more heavy formula and devolve into a real slog to get through. Least fav tracks: Believe, ... read more
