December challenge day 9: A 90s album that defined its decade
This album is pretty much the face of 90s hip hop, and for good reason. It embodies everything memorable about rap in that decade, from the boom Bap production, to the unforgettable lyrics and amazing storytelling, to flows smoother than butter. Biggie’s presence on the mic is pretty much unmatched for the decade, and for the history of the genre in general. There’s some bars in this album that haven’t aged too ... read more

The fact that the first song this band ever released was Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels) is ... read more
December challenge day 5: An album from a genre you’ve never explored
It may not be December 5th in NZ right now but it is somewhere in the world, meaning I have not failed the December challenge (yet).
I could never see myself being a death metal fan (still can’t really as it apparently only gets worse from here) but this is some really good shit. My favourite element of this album is easily the instrumentation. The heavy, hard hitting guitars, the loud drums, all of it is so ... read more
