Sadly, Heavy Light is much weaker than In a Poem Unlimited. The songwriting is repetitive and is sonically less enjoyable than In a Poem Unlimited. Disappointing, but there are still some solid tracks.
Favorite Tracks: 4 American Dollars, Overtime, And Yet It Moves
Least Favorite Track: Red Ford Radio (songwriting is very redundant and the instrumentation never reaches a climax, which is unsatisfying)
While I do wish that there is more aggression during many of the female vocal performances, there is no doubt that Code Orange’s Underneath will be metal record of the year. The growling vocals, perplexing breakdowns, and great instrumentation all benefit this album immensely.
Favorite Tracks: In Fear, You and You Alone, Cold.Metal.Place, Sulfur Surrounding, The Easy Way, Erasure Scan, Last Ones Left, Back Inside the Glass, Underneath
Least Favorite Track: A Sliver (the vocals are ... read more
Though I wish some tracks were more interesting, most of the material on After Hours is still some of The Weekend’s best work. The vocals are great and the production is too, incorporating synths on every track. The songwriting, which is usually about love, has improved from some of his previous work as well. A solid effort from The Weeknd, that will surely please pop listeners.
Favorite Tracks: Alone Again, Too Late, Hardest To Love, Scared To Live, Heartless, Faith, Blinding Lights, In ... read more
Death Grips’ The Money Store is easily one of the best albums of the 2010’s. It’s insane production and demented vocals, as well as songwriting are reasons why this album is amazing. This album was just a glimpse of further greatness Death Grips would have with future albums.
Favorite Tracks: All
Least Favorite Track: N/A
While some tracks could be more ambitious and less tedious, there is no denying that Far Side Virtual is one of the best vaporwave of the past decade because of its immersion and memorable samples.
Favorite Tracks: Linden Dollars, Global Lunch, Dubai Dream Tone, Sim, Fro Yo and Cellular Bits, Google Poeises, Starbucks, Dr Suessism, and While Your Mac Is Sleeping, Adventures in Green Foot Printing, Earth Minutes
Least Favorite Track: Dream On (very underwhelming)
2012 - 2017 may be one of the greatest house albums ever created because of its entrancing samples and bassy production. It is also one of the best records of the 2010’s as well.
Favorite Tracks: All, except Such a Bad Way
Least Favorite Track: Such a Bad Way (not as ambitious as other tracks, but still solid)
My main problem with Whack World is that sometimes the vocals are annoying or lazy. Otherwise, Whack World is a fun, yet short rap album that brings solid production and Tierra Whack’s intriguing personality to the table.
Favorite Tracks: Flea Market, Cable Guy, Hookers, Pet Cemetery, F ck Off, Silly Sam, Waze
Least Favorite Track: Dr. Seuss (the vocals are very irritating)
Piñata could definitely go without the skit-like intervals, but the album is still immaculately produced and has memorable vocals and lyricism. One of the greatest rap records of the 2010’s.
Favorite Tracks: Scarface, Deeper, High, Harold’s, Bomb, Shitsville, Thuggin’, Real, Uno, Broken, Lakers, Knicks, Shame
Least Favorite Track: Watts (basically a skit with production)
Despite some tedious production on King Push, it manages to be Pusha T’s second best project behind Daytona because of its great lyricism and vocals.
Favorite Tracks: Intro, M.T.F.R., Crutches, Crosses, Caskets, M.P.A., Keep Dealing, Sunshine
Least Favorite Track: Retribution (the production is long-winded)
While Luv is Rage 2 faces issues previous Lil Uzi Vert albums have faced, like redundant hooks and annoying vocals, but it still manages to be a commendable trap album that has fun vocals and production.
Favorite Tracks: 444+222, Sauce It Up, For Real, Feelings Mutual, How To Talk, Dark Queen, XO Tour Llif3
Least Favorite Track: Pretty Miami (vocals become annoying quickly)
Luv is Rage is a sometimes really lazy and generic trap record. The project showcases some of Lil Uzi Vert’s most uninspired vocals in his career. The only consistently solid thing about this album is the production, though the vocals are occasionally decent. With all of this in mind, Luv is Rage is maybe the worst album in Lil Uzi Vert’s discography, but it is not entirely awful.
Favorite Tracks: Banned from TV, Belly, Enemies
Least Favorite Track: Super Saiyan (the vocals are ... read more
While I do wish that Daytona was at least three or so tracks longer, it is still a fantastically produced hip hop record, that includes great rapping as well. A contender for rap album of the 2010’s.
Favorite Tracks: All, except Hard Piano
Least Favorite Track: Hard Piano (the Rick Ross feature wasn’t really necessary, nor was it great)
Pure Heroine is a great debut by Lorde that has lovely vocals, production, and subtle, but notable synths throughout.
Favorite Tracks: Tennis Court, Royals, Ribs, Buzzcut Season, Team, Glory and Gore, Still Sane, A World Alone
Least Favorite Track: 400 Lux (the hook’s melodies were quite predictable)
The Perfect Luv Tape can be really redundant at points and the production is underwhelming sometimes as well, but it does have some good tracks. While not the worst Lil Uzi Vert album, it is definitely not his best work.
Favorite Tracks: Original Uzi (4 of Us), SideLine Watching (Hold Up), Seven Million
Least Favorite Track: Ronda (Winners), (becomes very tedious by the time it is over)
Suga is a slightly above average trap showing from Megan Thee Stallion. There are good tracks here, but a majority have glaring issues that prevent them from being enjoyable, like the awkward auto-tuned vocals on the second half of this EP.
Favorite Tracks: Savage, Captain Hook, B.I.T.C.H.
Least Favorite Track: Stop Playing (vocals are absolutely awful from Megan)
The songwriting is awful, the vocals are awkward or intolerable, and the instrumentation is essentially the same on every track. Maybe one of the worst rap rock albums ever, besides Limp Bizkit’s entire discography.
Favorite Track(s): Living On The 110... Maybe?
Least Favorite Tracks: Everything else
A Written Testimony is definitely not worth the ten year wait, but it does have many solid moments from Jay Electronica and JAY-Z, as well as decent production, though album suffers mostly from tediousness.
Favorite Tracks: The Blinding, The Neverending Story, Shiny Suit Theory
Least Favorite Track: Ezekiel’s Wheel (production is very tedious)
Some of the instrumentation on Everything Is Beautiful could be more potent, but the vocal performances do slightly make up for it. Not as good as Everything Sucks, but still enjoyable.
Favorite Tracks: Green Eggs & Ham, Wash & Sets, Gemini, Sugar Honey Iced Tea (S.H.I.T.), Blessings
Least Favorite Track: Wavy (the hook is repetitive, as well as the production)
Everything Sucks can sometimes be tedious and annoying, but is made up for with Princess Nokia’s eccentricity.
Favorite Tracks: Harley Quinn, Welcome to the Circus, Gross, Practice, Just a Kid
Least Favorite Track: Crazy House (the hook is very annoying)
Poppy fuses pop and metal on I Disagree and it is consistently enjoyable. Even though I do wish the two low-key pop tracks here towards the end, I still love this album.
Favorite Tracks: Concrete, I Disagree, Bloodmoney, Anything Like Me, Fill the Crown, Sit/Stay, Don’t Go Outside
Least Favorite Track: Bite Your Teeth (the hook is very repetitive)
