Paris texas werent really on my radar up until i saw them open for tyler the creator on the chromakopia tour this year. They blew me away with their energy and creativity. im such a sucker for well executed rap rock and these sibling EP's are exactly what i need
both these guys have so much energy in their rapping and the production is disgustingly good. if you're not looking out for these guys, you are missing out.
if you fw east coast hip hop of this era then this is an essential album
this is one of the worst practices in the music industry it is genuinely disgusting
Taylor swift is not the only artist to do this, king gizzard was guilty of this until recently apologising, but this practice fucks over so many smaller artists by putting their vinyl and cd pressings into her, meaning that smaller artists will likely suffer delays which prevents them from taking advantage of hype and prevents them from making money because artists make barely anything from streaming.

this album took me far too long to get to but by god was it worth it. I dont normally rank this many albums this high for the year but this has been such a great year for more niche albums and its fucking amazing. this album is very nearly tied for my favourite of the year
he really does sound like uzi sometimes on here.
i've listened to this mixtape twice now and i genuinely cant find shit interesting about it but i will say its his best project so far. the album cover is a cute spin on the LUV vs the world cover and i actually really like it. ironically enough this is still his most unique work so far cause the beat selection is actually really interesting and as his first release under opium it is decent and i hope his music evolves more. derivative as ... read more
"i feel like ice cube its all about the benjamins"??????
i know i shouldnt take the lyrics too seriously but that really took me out of it. YVL and recently opium signee and cousin of playboi carti released his first studio album last year and its SO FUCKING GENERIC. theres moments i like on here hence it not being rated lower but this was the longest 36 minutes of my life. Apollored1 is the most boring member of this fuckass lable because everyone has some identity. Homixide gang ... read more
earrings is the only interesting song on here and its only cause the beat is incredible and the whispery flow doesnt actually ruin it.
idk who the FUCK shelovesmeechie is but im not sure i really want to because this mixtape is fucking nothing. wait sorry what? THIS ISNT A MIXTAPE??? THIS IS AN ALBUM??? i dont even know if this dude is actually associated with YVL/opium because of how little attention this has got but if he is this is embarassing. This isnt a big album or anything but however ... read more
the production on here is mostly great but this project is really nothing special and apollo is the big reason for this because these flows are pretty basic and just feel like if lone didnt always sound congested + edward skeletrix with less voice effects sometimes on tracks like ready2purge. his apollored1 vs the world mixtape is a big improvement but im not inclined to believe that album is gonna be the status quo, rather the exception. i'd love if he proved me wrong but he still stands ... read more
these first 3 songs are great dont get me wrong but WHAT THE FUCK IS SHE TALKING ABOUT ON HALF OF THIS ALBUM. the unnecessary and honestly bitter sounding digs at charli XCX, the insistence that she likes her friends cancelled/problematic, this is not the return to form that i was hoping for. its better than tortured poets, but its a low bar
Another 2025 re-review
i've made a lot of progress when it comes to my feelings on a lot of underground and rage music this year. i was incredibly harsh on this album when it came out, initially giving it a 26/100. i understand what i actually like from rage music instead of not really knowing why i like some of it. Jumpout has a very different style of production from what i knew i liked but i kept an open mind as some of the best beats here are more reliant on melody in comparison to ... read more
while most rage music i dont understand because the artist is just hard to understand, this is just because i do not speak spanish but the production on this record is fucking incredible and exact;y what i've been wanting from the genre. English speaking mfs need to take notes
despite the dissapointments out of opium, the rage scene seems to be thriving right now and its thanks to bringing in so many different sounds and inspirations.
Lucy bedroques debut mixtape showcases very digicore and glitch pop inspired version of the rage subgenre thats breathing new life into the subgenre where the heavy hitters are starting to seem more and more uninspired. artists like Jane remover, che and now Lucy are breathing so much new life into this genre to the point where i ... read more
has some decent tracks but i just find myself not really caring for this record
