Very nostalgic indie pop/rock record. Could use a shake up here and there but honestly this album is so sweet and charming it's hard to hate it.
Great experimental pop, just wish I could see more of what they are able to do.
A typical indie record that is very standard, but that's why it works. It doesn't try to be obnoxious with new ideas it just takes older ideas and sounds we're used to and English Teacher puts their own spin on it. Contender for album of the year actually.
My new found obsession for an indie group. Wonderfully made, the vibe is perfect for listening during a road trip or while on a walk. This is just such a peaceful and happy album (for the most part).
Huge contender for album of the year. God like vocals, very tight instrumentation, and one of the best debut albums of all time. Not worth a single listen but multiple listens.
SAWAYAMA aims to create a musically diverse album and it works perfectly. It fuses so many genres together in multiple songs, a must listen.
Not totally opposed to the pop shift since a lot of artists can hit it out of the park. Scaled and Icy however, is a mess through and through. This album has a lot of charm and the vibe is so great but the music just falls on its face so much. In simple terms, the album starts great, the middle is horrible and the end is mediocre. Not as inventive as Regional at Best, Vessel or Trench but too safe to be anything special.
Edit: This album has grown on me alot before the release of Clancy. Some ... read more
Total 180, beautifully produced, beautifully written lyrics, the experimenting done in this album works perfectly and twenty one pilots finally found a a sweet spot between maturity and fun in this album. So much passion that was lost in Blurryface is here, a must listen
What happened? The indie rock, synthpop album that was "Vessel" was a great step and actually could've been greatly expanded upon. However, twenty one pilots decided to go with a more mainstream pop rap, and alt pop sound which just sounds like blasphemy to Vessel which just established the perfect sound. It is a total shift in direction, but it wouldn't be a huge problem if the shift was done right. The album gets annoying after the first three tracks and brings it back up around ... read more
Vessel is a great album it really is, it takes what Regional at Best really messed up and refined it as much as they could. While this album has it missteps like the rapping still isn't great nor is his voice, the passion is put way more into this album than the previous two. The lyrics are genuinely deep, and rarely as corny as you'd think. However, with the lyrical and musical diversity it has Tyler relies too much on the synth. I praised Regional at Best for it's inclusion but the synth is ... read more
Big step up in musical diversity from Self Titled, but that's not saying much AT ALL. This album is more experimental with synths and has better sounding drums by a bit. I genuinely think if this album had more time to cook in the oven and better production it would be so well. Of course Vessel is basically Regional at Best upgraded. The problems on this album are the weak and horrible rapping, poor vocals, and overuse of vocal effects when unneeded. The good parts of this album are the diverse ... read more
twenty one pilots stands as their worst album BY FAR, it feels very unoriginal with all the songs being piano. There's genuinely some great ideas here but they are all ruined by poor production or Tyler's awful voice and occasional vocal effects. Sometimes sound effects in the back of songs are just way too distracting and this album just feels like a mess. The two hits are "Oh Miss Believer" and "Air Catcher" with the one exception of vocal effects being used in "Air ... read more
This album got me more into metalcore and metal in general. Amazing debut with great production and an overall cohesive sound across the whole album. My issue is this album is so great I feel like Spiritbox's next outing wouldn't be able to top it, we will see though
A great ambitious album by My Chemical Romance. The story is great and goes so well with the songs. Each songs sets out to outdo the previous songs and it's so damn good! Objectively a lot is better from Three Cheers but I prefer Three Cheers and what it does. I will say this album can be a bit overly dramatic and it can do a little too much at times. Three Cheers was able to find a balance in tame and wild songs. But overall this album is a masterpiece, god tier along with Three Cheers and ... read more
If I could rate this album more than a 100 I would, what a perfect album not a single skip. This album is a classic emo album and it's easy to see why. This album has so much personality and it is very hyper it's full of so much energy. Songs like "I Never Told You What I Do for a Living", "Thank You for The Venom." and "Hang 'Em High" really makes it hard to write this album off as just another album from the emo trend back in the 2000's and nothing more. This ... read more
Look I love My Chemical Romance, they are my favorite band ever. However this debut is not a great start but luckily this is their only miss. The production is very poor which I get but even the guitar and drums that do rock are overshadowed by Gerard's very unexperienced voice. Even with this being a huge miss I still would listen to this album with a few skips here and there of course. Not great but not a horrible debut.
This album is such a great return to Paramore. This album is a very short and sweet album, it's more of a sequel of sorts to "After Laughter" in subject matter. The band is recovering from the past and it shows, they've reinvented themselves again. With the band feeling tighter and more cohesive than ever in this album it's hard not to like it. While there are some minor misses like Big Man Little Dignity, Crave, and Thick Skull I don't skip them because they are still so well made. ... read more
Paramore aimed to evolve on the Self Titled sound and it worked perfectly. You would never think in a million years a full pop Paramore album would work. It surely does work, this album uses the "happy sound" and "dark lyrics" contrast and it works so much better than other albums. Songs like "Fake Happy" and "Caught in the Middle" will get you dancing in a second but if you actually sit down and listen to the lyrics they are deeper than you thought. It's ... read more
My favorite Paramore album, I love the youthfulness on this album and the rougher emo sound to it. The lyrics are really great especially for a bunch of teenagers. I don't have any gripes with this album, love the songs, the sound everything. It might not be everyone's favorite but it's mines.
