Selected Ambient Works 85-90 is an album I have a special relationship with. I don't listen to it in a way I listen to other albums, attempting to figure out all that's good about it.
I always try to find something wrong with it, because I'm in disbelief that an album of such nature can be so flawless.
This prevents me from enjoying the album in its full glory, so I simply can't give it a perfect score.
Who knows, maybe when I mature I'll be able to give it the 100 it deserves
After all the drama Peggy caused surrounding his musical "empire" and being confrontationally insecure about the persona he created for himself, it was hard to take this album seriously.
But I decided to give this album a listen without giving too much weight towards the popular dislike of the artist behind it. Oh how this album stuck with me when I first listened to it. It's the raw emotions it hits you with on every song. The crisp and compressed sound of it making it seem older than it really is, like it's something you'd discover on MySpace and cherish forever.
