The first time I listened to this album I did not like it very much. I'm familiar with Jane Remover's work, and I really liked Frailty. Upon first listen, I don't think I really cared for the slower and more shoe-gazey style this record is going for. Now, after like 5 listens, I really feel like I 'get' this album. The overstimulation and noise is simultaneously calming and rejuvenating, and it's still poppy enough to not just be noise with no beat and form. I do miss some of the hyperpop-style ... read more
I mainly got into Cody Fry from his funk-infused pop collabs with Cory Wong. This album is a far cry from that (save from one collab song he did do with Cory Wong) and as a result I did not enjoy it vey much. Most of his songs are too slow and orchestral for me, and the lyrics come off as a little cheesy. Still, I didn't hate any of the songs on this record and perhaps if I was in the mood for it I would enjoy it a lot more
Compared to some of their earlier works, this is definitely not my favorite Brook and the Bluff record. A lot of their groovier songs have been replaced by slow and introspective songs. This slower direction is definitely not my cup of tea, but there is still quite a lot to enjoy here so overall I enjoyed it
This album was ok, it had a few fun standout songs on it that I'll prob go back and listen to. It's very similar to her first album, which isn't necessarily a bad thing I just didn't vibe with it.
Very decent rnb record, I had a good time chilling out and listening to this one.
Pretty disappointing listen for me. Compared to his other projects, this album did not have many standout songs or interesting hooks. It was just a little disengaged throughout the whole thing, and I hope his next project amps things up a little.
This album was a little too slow and ethereal for me, I much prefer more of their jazzy/groovy songs.
Amazing album from the paper kites. A little samey at parts, but I loved the consistent vibes and it's got some of the best songs they've ever made.
I'm a big Valley fan, but this album is pretty hit or miss for me. It's more of the same from them, which for me is ok but admittedly pretty boring at times. I did appreciate the musical/lyrical callbacks to past songs but that just made me want to listen to those songs instead.
I thoroughly enjoyed this albums vibe and I think this is one of the best The Japanese House albums. Very laid back and chill but also very danceable at times. Not every song hits for me though, some I straight up get bored listening to. But the standouts really standout.
I listened to this album a few times and each time i liked it more and more. Very creative and funny lyrics which made it a very fun listen for me.
This album is pretty meh to me. The other reviews saying it's a 1975 ripoff are correct, however I like that sound so ultimately it was inoffensive to me.
Very fun little dance record from an alias of Jordan Rakei. Standouts are Sober and Actually.
Came across this album on accident, but I really love it. Standouts are Hallelujah and Lover, You Should've Come Over.
Recently became a fan of DGD, and this album really sold me on their style. It's a long album and a lot of the songs sound similar, but every song is still fun to listen to. Standouts are Cream Of The Crop, Die Another Day, and Pray To God For Your Mother.
More of the same from Cory Wong, with a few really solid tracks that take his signature style to new places. Standouts are Look At Me, Ready, and Ace.
