It's crazy to me that people say that ABR hasn't developed or changed their style at all in this album. This is by far their most progressive work, with almost all the songs transitioning into one another seamlessly, making the album feel like one long song. The individual songs are also on average longer than other records by this band and they use that time to develop them further. The album also has more spoken word parts, more features, and more of the sing-scream vocals than the other ... read more
This record is absolutely oozing with passion. The blend between the synth-wave sound and metalcore is done nearly perfectly on this album. 2023 has been a great year for creativity and uniqueness in the metal scene.
Highlights: Disaster, Rearview
Low Points: Ruminate, Portals
Super fun revivalcore album.
Highlights: Hallowed, Scars
Lowpoints: Liminal, Who the Masters Serve
Gotta put respect on Howard Jones' name. One of the GOATS of metalcore. He definitely raises the album quite a bit lol. However, even though the album doesn't really do anything new, it has quite a few well-written, memorable, and fun tracks.
Highlights: Death of Me, Living with a Ghost, Become the Martyr
Low Points: Sign Your Name, I Hate Myself
I really enjoyed the experimentation on this album. Some great tracks came out of it.
Highlights: A Drone Opting Out of the Hive, The Mirror
Low Points: I Fly, But a Dream
Absolutely psychotic. 10/10 would recommend.
Highlights: The Ladder, Bright Future, Modern Dialogue
Low Points: Gatekeeper, The Mirror
Just dumb fun club music mixed with metalcore. I respect it a lot even if most of the songs aren't for me.
I mean it's alright. Cool that it's bringing some more recognition to metalcore but really overrated imo.
Ok so I just replayed a few songs and had to lower the score a bit because of how ASS DYWTYLM is.
Edit 2: The more i listen to parts of this album the more I don't like it. The Summoning is still a pretty cool song but everything else is sub par at best. I still will say that it's cool that this will be many people's gateway album into metalcore, and anything that gets metal bigger is a ... read more
Great album, every song is a banger and the pacing is great.
Highlights: Silk in the Strings, Constance, Yellowjacket
Low Points: Halycon, Eternal Blue
A few really good tracks, some really bad ones, but most in the middle. Definitely some added to the playlist though.
Highlights: Paralyzed, welcome2paradise
Low Points: N E W H E A V E N, OnlyGirl
I heard Westward Bound about 2 yeats ago but didn't check out the album it came from until now for some reason. I was really missing out because this was a fantastic album.
Highlights: Westward Bound parts I and II, Stone and Silver part II
Low Points: The Exile Part I, Destiny's Fool
Soundtrack of my childhood
Much better release from an old school metal band than that metallica record from this year.
Highlights: Descent, Non-Existence
Low Points: Working Man, Obeisance
No other songs have blended funk and metal together in such a seamless way. This album stands out as something truly unique. Feel Again is straight up one of my favorite songs of all time and is the pinnacle of the style created by this band.
Highlights: Feel Again, Failures and Fakes Again, Prisoner Again
Low Points: Falling Again
In my opinion, this is the worst album by this band, but even then it's still very solid. Every song on this album is good but they just aren't very memorable when compared to all of the other ABR records. Carpe Diem slaps though.
Highlights: Carpe Diem, Cutting the Ties
Low Points: Divisions, 40 Nights
