Vince Staples - RAMONA PARK BROKE MY HEART
70

A pretty bare bones project especially from an artist of Vince's calibre, however the production is still very catchy and well arranged, as simple as it may be.

Favs: THE BEACH, AYE! (FREE THE HOMIES), MAGIC, WHEN SPARKS FLY, PAPERCUTS, LEMONADE, ROSE STREET
Worst: DJ QUIK

Noname - Room 25
90

Rapper, activist, writer, poet, Noname on her debut album "Room 25" gives a sense of refurbished innocence, similarly to "Telefone", however this time backed by sonically rich orchestration and lush vocals that provide a smooth listen that, doesn't drag on but doesn't come and go either. There is a vast contrast in styles, whether its the funky, swift guitar picks on "Blaxploitation" or the smooth, dramatic orchestra on tracks like "Prayer Song" ... read more

NxWorries - WHY LAWD?
90

Knxwedge's rich production, flows so well with .Paak's smooth voice, for a very pleasent, calming listen. Most tracks barely scratch the 2 minute mark, but that helps the production on the tracks breathe without seeming monotonous, similarly to Madvillainy.

Favs: 86Sentra, MoveOn, KeepHer, Distractions, Where I Go, Daydreaming, FromHere, Battlefield, OutTheWay, MoreOfIt, Distant Space, WalkOnBy
Worst: NVR.RMX

Danny Brown - uknowhatimsayin¿
77

On uknowhatimsayin? you can now know what Brown is saying!

Favs: Dirty Laundry, 3 Tearz, Savage Nomad, Best Life, Negro Spiritual, Combat
Worst: Belly of the Beast

Saba - Few Good Things
78

A very charming outlook on aspiration, presented through warm production and lyrics, contrasting his prior release; Care For Me

Favs: Survivor's Guilt, an Interlude Called "Circus", Come My Way, a Simpler Time, Soldier, 2012, Few Good Things
Worst: Stop That

Barenaked Ladies - Stunt
NR

good will bargain bin. idk why i have this on physical dont ask me, i just liked the song One Week growing up

Earl Sweatshirt - Doris
68

Although filled with highlights, namely Chum, Hive, and Woah, "Doris" suffers from an inconsistent track list that struggles to support the heavy weight of this record. The weak tracks hold this back from being a classic for me, however I commend the strong points, and find the overall cohesiveness track to track to work in its favor, which, after diving into almost all of earl's projects, I can safely say is one of his strong points, along with maturity, and lyrical density.

Earl Sweatshirt - I Don't Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside
86

Extremely morbid, and distilled of hope, I Don't Like Shit is a demonstration of degeneracy, lack of motivation that has a relentlessly gloomy aftertaste. Though it is levels darker than Doris, this LP is still presentable with its production, and irony laced quips. Probably Earl's emptiest album in terms of life, yet it still manages to feel full of personality, despite the matter.

Favs: Huey, Mantra, Faucet, Grief, Off Top, AM // Radio, Inside, Wool
Worst: DNA

Earl Sweatshirt - Some Rap Songs
92

Melancholic and drowsy, excruciatingly blunt and face value, unforgiving yet sorrowful, spiteful yet slightly benevolent. Some Rap Songs presents an intensely personal collection of tracks, all strung together loosely, with short length, which causes a very felicitously jarring mood, resulting in what can only be described as poetically deranged. This unconventional flow of tracks causes a very seamless listen, making its short runtime count, with every single minute of uninterrupted dismay and ... read more

Joey Valence & Brae - NO HANDS
84

Beastie Boys if they scared the hoes

probably some of the funniest rap ive heart all decade so far. really great quips and bars. has alot of personality and amazing production to back it. This really feels like if Ad-Rock and Mike D all had platonic sex with Danny Brown and Jpegmafia respectively, and then those babies grew up to meet miraculously and had a baby, making twins; These two.

here are some funny quips fromthis LP to round off this short review;

Rachel Chinouriri - What A Devastating Turn of Events
79

Astounding production that immerses us into Chinouriri's world, and her struggled with heartbreak and mourning, with humorous writing, that is also touching.

Favs: Garden Of Eden, The Hills, Never Needed Me, My Everything, It Is What It Is, Dumb Bitch Juice, What A Devastating Turn Of Events, Cold Call, I Hate Myself, So My Darling (Acoustic)
Worst: My Blood

71

IT'S A BED BUGE!!!!

Very ravishing and charming pop, painted with lush soundscapes that make for a very pleasant listen, showcasing the ups and downs of relationships, insecurities, and worries. love that gets lulled by anxiety, eventually resolving and making piece again. lots of personality in this record.

Favs: No One, You Know I Love You Still, Damn, Honey Boba Boy, If I Could Say
Worst: Frog Rinse

Future - WE STILL DON'T TRUST YOU
46

Disc 1: 44/100 | Disc 2: 52/100

Boring and uninspired in all fronts. Futures yelpy vocals really aren't doing it for me at all, and metro brings his most bleak production ever, which form to make a long, bloated, and tedious to listen to.

Favs: We Still Don't Trust You, Out Of My Hands, Beat It, Nobody Knows My Struggle, Show Of Hands
Worst: Mile High Memories

Denzel Curry - ZUU
85

my first denzel project ironically and it holds a special place in my heart for introducing me to southern hiphop as a whole (at least modern). very unique, abrasive, yet oddly enticing and accessible production.

Favs: RICKY, BIRDZ, SPEEDBOAT, YOO, CAROLMART, SHAKE 88, P.A.T.
Worst: AUTOMATIC

Denzel Curry - Melt My Eyez See Your Future
87

Denzel's most thoughtful work to date, with more lax, jazz inspired production.

Favs: Melt Session #1, Walkin, Worst Comes To Worst, The Last, Mental, Troubles, Ain't No Way, X-Wing, Sanjuro, Zatoichi, The Ills
Worst: The Smell Of Death

Denzel Curry & Kenny Beats - UNLOCKED
86

Madvillainy if it was made by some white dude and the guy who made ULTIMATE

Favs: Take_it_Back_v2, Pyro (leak 2019), DIET_ So.Incredible.pkg, 'Cosmic'.m4a
Worst: Lay_Ip.m4a

Worst: Eeny Meeny Miny Moe

Childish Gambino - "Awaken, My Love!"
96

A stellar performance, showcasing Glovers ear for production, and how well he can sing, because he sings his ass off. moving lyrics and its all done to honor of his newborn son (Lucky him!!!). A quintessential listen for all music fans.

Favs: Me and Your Mama, Riot, Redbone, California, Terrified, Baby Boy, The Night Me and Your Mama Met, Stand Tall
Worst: Have Some Love

Snowd4y - Wah Gwan Delilah

bro is so cheesed man he wont ever recover 😭😭🙏

Mach-Hommy - #RICHAXXHAITIAN
84

sucks i had to wait for weeks to listen to this, with the whole copyright issue, but the wait was well worth it.

Favs: ANTONOMASIA, SONJE, PARDON, EMPTY SPACES, SUR LE PONT d'AVIGNON (Reparation #1), THE SERPANT AND THE RAINBOW, COPY COLD, #RICHAXXHATIAN, LON LON, SAME 24, HOLY ____

"@GarfieBabey thats called a hot take, music elitists never say what they actually dislike about the album, they are saying the same shit that all those brainrot one liner reviews say, but mask it behind reddit-im-smarter-than-you vocabulary. they usually only post it for engagement, and i feel like the whole "jazz rap slop" angle is incredibly racist in nature."
