Guys come on, this is like objectively an S-Tier musical.
Has the best rendition of my favourite Les Mis song, Javert's Suicide.
I need an edit of the Earth that starts with "In 2015, scientist predicted that the Earth would reach a point of no return due to increased climate change and rise in global warming. The projected date was 2031 (or whenever it actually is) Today is April 10th, 2026." Then we get a good aesthetic but somber montage edit of the history and beauty of the Earth and humanity's relationship with it. But then it slowly transitions into how we've ruined the world and it shows all ... read more
It is a good improvement over the original on most of the songs because of its stripped down nature, but since it is stripped down that also means no orchestral production. This was a major let down for me on I Me Mine and The Long and Winding Road. Tracks that are practically made legendary by their orchestral and grand sound. Without that, they just sound like great Beatles songs. This doesn't mean I disliked the album, it has some of the best tracks in The Beatles' whole ... read more
Taking Don't Let Me Down off Let It Be may have been Phil Spector's biggest mistake (except for basically tarnishing the legacy and production of what could've been this spectacular Beatles album of course)
A clear evolution for The Beatles. This album was a collection of great songs, good rock songs, average plain love songs, and on the greatest songs ever written. It was definitely a clear step-up for The Beatles, but they still had another year before going through their true transformation into the greatest band of all time.
Favourites: Yesterday, Help!, I've Just Seen a Face
I’m sorry, I love Elliott Smith but this was just sooooo repetitive and overrated. The instrumentation or even sound/melodies gets pretty boring after a few tracks, but it just keeps on going. I was so desperate for any difference in sound that I enjoyed the harmonica a lot and I didn’t even really like that song.
I love the vibe of all the music he makes but I think Elliott’s still too much in his early era here and I personally don’t find it anywhere near his best. If ... read more
Lowkey, this fellow’s music stuff aint too bad. Could’ve been one of the best influencer musicians if not for the bite of ‘87
Please tell me why Tally Hall hasn't produced a full real musical yet???????????
I was expecting more from the few great tracks I heard before listening to the full record but boy, why is the extended version of this album so much longer that I thought it would be (I listened to the extended version because that's the one on spotify and the songs I liked from the album beforehand were only on the longer version). The album was definetly way too bloated and they for sure could have cut a few tracks down but ignoring that.
This was a really great pop punk record. I have ... read more
I first experienced part of this album at the pop up in Toronto. This was a magical experience and set VERY high expectations for Son of Spergy's release.
Going into the album I still had expectations but they slowly started to fade away as the album went on. The songs were a bit blander than I expected and they all kinda blended together especially nearing the mid-point (haha mid) of the album. Thankfully the last song on the album saved the experience and gave that classic Daniel ... read more
The tracklist is a pretty mixed bag with some of my personal favourite songs on this record and then some others that are just alright to pretty good. It's definitely a tamer album with a more modern chill rnb sound to it rather than even a poppy or acoustic sound that we've seen from him before. I wouldn't say I personally prefer that style and 100% enjoy when artists take bigger leaps in creativity even if it doesn't end up sounding that great, because at least it's a ... read more
Mixes a lot of vibes and genres pretty well for a calm folky acoustic and indie pop feeling in the end.
This album so perfectly encaptures what it’s trying to and I love it.
A little underwhelming considering it’s his highest rated album. I just didn’t feel the funk and vibe as much on this one and Space Cowboy is def overrated imo. Solid record but not really what I look for in Jamiroquai.
