Earl Sweatshirt - SICK!

Earl Sweatshirt happier album.

Earl Sweatshirt sounds like he's in a much better place now, both in production and lyricism. The album basically telling you that this isn't anything like he has been making years before. Happy Earl Sweatshirt album time, he says. I like this album. I only dislike Sick! because it's kinda ass. Good album.

Fav track: Fire in the Hole

Earl Sweatshirt - FEET OF CLAY

This the EP with pirate shanty song.

This feels like the DLC to Some Rap Songs. It's not that good and emotional as that one, but I still liked this quite a bit.

EAST is not as funny as everyone thinks it is. I mean yeah the instrumental is some pirate shanty type shit, but the lyrics depressing as fuck. I mean he talking about losing the important people in his life and coping by drinking alcohol. I honestly think it's on purpose. In some way, it just feels unreal. It probably was ... read more

Earl Sweatshirt - Some Rap Songs
96

I don't usually cry to music. I'm an emotional person, but I never cried to an album before. The ending of Some Rap Songs is one of the most gutwrenching feelings I had from an album. Hopelessness was hard to capture in an album, but this album captured it in a way I haven't felt before. The broken and unique production perfectly the captured of what it feels like to be trapped in a bad place. The feeling of dread is prevalent throughout the album.

There are a few outliers from ... read more

Earl Sweatshirt - I Don't Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside
77

This album feels so lonely. Compared to his last record, this feels like it was made from a low place. The production was mostly by him, kinda in theme of him being by himself type of feeling. The production is much more laidback, emptier, and darker compared to the projects he made before. This is basically his depression album.

Grief genuinely feels so sad and depressing. It is very vulnerable and shit and goddamn bro never heard a song like that in awhile. Wool was the "happiest" ... read more

Earl Sweatshirt - Doris
78

Earl Sweatshirt was arguably the best lyricist and rapper in OF, and shit that still true. Doris was his debut album, and it's pretty good for what it is. Thebe started to branch out the OF shit and started showing the sound that he kinda known for. There are influences here and there, but the introspective lyrics and the creative wordplay shit is here.

This album is dark and broody, kinda sounding like some of Tyler's works around this time. This album was kinda inconsistent for me ... read more

Big L - Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous
92

Firstly, RIP Big L. He left this world way, way too soon. How ironic that what shit he was preaching in Street Stuck is the same shit that caused his end. As an artist, he was way beyond his peers as a rapper. No one in this era could do it like him bro, he was rivalling Nas for me. Big L is so underrated. He was better than most rappers at that time. His wordplay, his lyricism, his flow, and his energy were so infectious and fun bro.

Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous is such a good rap ... read more

~~~ QUICK REVIEW ~~~
Ok there wasn't much here to give a full review so here's a quickie. This EP was kinda boring, having pretty generic songs and beats, none really standing out except one track. Weighted Blanket was the best part here, being the most unique one here. But other than that, pretty mid EP. eh album.
Fav track: Weighted Blanket
Least fav: Section 8
Ghais Guevara - BlackBolshevik
Before I start this review, I have not really listened to Peggy's discography that much yet, so for those who be calling ts wish.com Peggy, shut the fuck up, and I really can't tell yet since I haven't listened to anything past Darskin Manson.
Ok so, BlackBolshevik. Yeah this debut album is pretty great. I love the production here, having no bad songs at all. This type of production style is smth I fw alot, and combine that with the creativity Ghais got make this shit hard. He ... read more
The Strokes - First Impressions of Earth
~~~ Stroking #3 ~~~

My first impressions? It's a good album. Yall kinda crazy.

I already know that Room on Fire and Is This It is their best works, and for some reason people tend to dislike their third work. As one comment said, this is like their green album. Idk which band, but I'm assuming Weezer, because I kinda see it. So now, is First Impressions Of Earth bad?

Hell nah.

I will admit it's leagues below the first two albums, but that really isn't saying much since ... read more

~~~ Stroking #2 ~~~
Why are there long pauses in the start of each song though.
I just finished Is This It and reviewed it a few minutes ago, and I do not want the stroking train to end. This is that one album I saw on a fantano short where he said W on. I went in Is This It having 0 expectations. After finishing that album, I am coming to this album with astronomical expectations. Knowing that this is arguably their best album, I expect the best.
FUCK ME SILLY BRO THIS IS SO GOOD.
~~~ Stroking #1 ~~~

I had 0 expectations going in. I knew The Strokes by name, but anything else nah. I've heard of them before, but I honestly got curious just because one of my friends listen to them. I am a bit familiar with them, one being the cover of the album. I've also seen Room on Fire on some best albums lists, so out of curiosity I thought, "you know what, sure I'll listen to them".

And oh boy.

Is This It is so fucking... WOW. Okay wow this album is really ... read more

~~~ The JPEGMAFIA Experience #2 ~~~
Ehhhhh its yeahhhh its so and so...
Coming from Communist Slow Jams, this was kinda disappointing. I don't think Peggy really knew what to do with this one, because damn this album is all over the place. It sounds eerie in a way, but this album is just eh. There are good tracks here, don't get me wrong, but most of this album just feel like nothing honestly. I honestly fell asleep midway, and I had to do a relisten because this album was just eh. ... read more
Roddy Ricch - Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial
76
Arguably Roddy Ricch's best work, Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial is a decent little project. Album has a few bangers, some nice melodic tracks, and some duds. The production is high quality, having alot of guitar and piano samples.
Being his debut album, I think he did a pretty good job. He garnered some mainstream success, and The Box absolutely blew up. Is it as good as people hyped it up to be back in 2019? Honestly, not really. In terms of a melodic trap album, it is better ... read more
~~~ The JPEGMAFIA Experience #1 ~~~

Oh boy.

I just finished my review with The Ghost Pop~Tape and I haven't fully recovered from that yet when I started listening to this album, but goddamn bro this is fucking goated. Politically charged and aggressive, Communist Slow Jams is an amazing cloud rap record. This record is almost as long as The Rockwood Escape Plan, but damn this is just better in so many ways. Despite being 22 tracks, it never felt like it was dragging at all. The ... read more

~~~ The Devon Hendryx Experience #7 ~~~
Finally, I've reached the end of his Devon Hendryx era. This is Peggy's magnum opus during this era, arguably the best in his entire career, The Ghost~Pop Tape. The Ghost~Pop Tape is unlike anything i've heard before honestly. This album sounds cold, distant, hollow, and depressing. The feeling of emptiness reverbrates throughout the entire album. Peggy was in the worst point in his life when he made this, contributing on why this album ... read more
Devon Hendryx - ❤️
~~~ The Devon Hendryx Experience #6 ~~~

As I approach the end of Peggy's old catalogue, I really noticed how much he's changed in this short 4 year period in terms of direction, production, and aesthetic. As short as ❤️ is, it was definitely a much more concise and cohesive than the last project. I think its shortness works for its favor. It's leaning much more on his production side of things, somehow feeling like another DSS. Unlike DSS though, this felt much more niche ... read more

Devon Hendryx - THE ROCKWOOD ESCAPE PLAN

~~~ The Devon Hendryx Experience #5 ~~~
Even before DeVaughn started making music under his name of JPEGMAFIA, he was already very talented at an early age. As he stated in this album, he started writing when he was still 12, and started producing when he was 15. Making all this while serving the military is crazy too. So with 3 albums on his belt, he released his longest project so far, The Rockwood Escape Plan. Although it's a lengthy project, it still remains cohesive throughout, but ... read more
Devon Hendryx - JOECHILLWORLD
83
~~~ The Devon Hendryx Experience #3 ~~~

Up next on my Peggy listening journey is JOECHILLWORLD. It sounds like what he was trying to do with DSS but with the rapping he did in Generation Y. The vaporwave feeling throughout the record was definitely a highlight, giving a certain vibe that I like. There was definitely much more direction in the creation of this project than the last one. This felt much more cohesive and consistent in terms of quality. There is another track, The Laughing Man, ... read more
