80s rock kinda sucks. Most of it was just generic radio slop that had no real style or personality. Def Leppard has always stood out to me as one of the best bands from that era due to their distinct sound and hooks, and nothing showcases that more than their magnum opus song; "Photograph". I am not joking when I call this one of the most perfect songs of all time, and it's easily one of my favorite songs.
I feel like this song showcases what made Def Leppard special in their ... read more
Sounds like a bad demo from VULTURES 2. The production is flat, Ty sounds awful, and there's nothing of any value lyrically. The instrumental is decent I guess, but the rest of the song sounds so bad that I can't even enjoy the beat. It's nice to hear Kanye not using AI though.
Anyways, as for the elephant in the room, Kanye is clearly mentally unwell. He's someone who's surrounded himself with the wrong people; hypemen who will support anything he does, and he's ... read more
The problem I have with Sexyy Red isn't that she's sexual, but it's that it feels like she's trying to make her lyrics as sexual as possible just for shock value. All of her songs feel like one-note shock value songs, and it grows tired after you've heard more than 2 of her songs. Either way, the instrumental is fine but pretty bland, Sexyy carries this song and I feel like Bruno contributed nothing. I do like some aspects of the production, but the song overall is just ... read more
Very good song from Peggy once again. I loved "I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU" and I'm looking forward to the "DIRECTORS CUT". This is a very great song, and one of the best-paced and segmented songs Peggy's made in a while. But unfortunately, I do think the production and lyricism hold this back from being a 10 for me. Production isn't bad but it is noticeably unfinished, and the lyricism just feels underwhelming. Lyrically, considering this song dropped on MLK ... read more
"AS OF 17 JANUARY 2025 46,707 DEAD"
Free Palestine. What has been occurring in Gaza is one of the most devastating tragedies and genocides in recent history. So many people are either simply ignoring it or trying to justify Israel's actions. A ceasefire deal has been made recently, and while this is fantastic news, it will still unfortunately not be the end of this conflict most likely, as it's been going on for decades. It's not an easy subject to talk about, and ... read more
This is the first time a Xiu Xiu album hasn't left me mentally scarred.
I took a break from writing big reviews for albums for a few months. Still, I'm back hoping to finish off my 2024 album reviews! "13" Frank Beltrame Italian Stiletto with Bison Horn Grips" is the latest release from the experimental group, Xiu Xiu, and it's pretty great! While it's not their most consistent album, it's easily their most banger-filled I've heard. The opening ... read more
One of the most nostalgic Christmas songs out there.
This was never a song I really grew up with, of course I heard it occasionally during Christmas time, but it never really was something I actively heard all the time. That being said, this song is so nostalgic. Something about this song makes me feel very sentimental, maybe it's the bittersweet lyrics? The wistful and dreamy 80s instrumental? The laidback vibe and vocal performance? I think it's all those things combined that ... read more
Merry Christmas!
Really enjoyable Christmas cover project from Mr. Schlatt! I've always loved classic Christmas music, and this scratches that itch perfectly. Schlatt's voice fits very well and for an amateur, he sounds incredible. His voice is very tonally rich sounding and soothing. It's easy to write this album off as a joke, but it's actually really good and I encourage anyone reading this to listen to it. I'd love to see Schlatt dabble into more music in the ... read more
The first of PewDiePie's diss tracks, and it's definitely his worst one, albeit his least serious one. The zany trap beat is memorable and enjoyable, however, the production itself is pretty bad. PewDiePie's voice gets a bit grating throughout this song, and the lyrics are horrendous. All the jokes in this song have aged horrifically, as most are references to memes from 2017-2018. On top of that, the lyrics are needlessly edgy and unfunny. Whereas the follow-up diss track, ... read more
Ehhhh...
First off, this song is painful to listen to. Boyinaband's vocals are overly dramatic to the point I can't take him seriously, and his flow is abysmal. On top of that, the vocal mixing is horrendous. The instrumental sounds like a free-to-use "dark EDM trap beat" on YouTube.
However, this song is meant to be about a serious message rather than the instrumental. So as for the lyrics themselves... Ehh.. I mean I see his point and even agree with it to an extent, ... read more
First off, Boyinaband is a horrible person and pedophile and now every song he's featured on is automatically poorly aged. Anyway, with that being said, the actual song isn't too bad. I like the passive-aggressive and condescending tone throughout the song, it's quite fun. Lyrically, it's a mixed bag here. I think there are some mildly funny lines and I like the song's overall message about the fall of independent creativity online, with corporations taking over content ... read more
This is one of the worst songs of all time.
First off, Boyinaband sucks, he's a pedophile and horrible person. Anyways, with that of the way, UGGGGGGGGGGGGH. I'm sorry, but Odd1sOut's talking/shouting style of vocals are atrocious. I understand he's a YouTuber with no experience in vocals, but that's also exactly the problem. On top of that, the vocals are horribly mixed. The instrumental is so "quirky" to the point it makes me feel physically sick. ... read more
I feel bad for Jaiden. This is obviously a very personal song for her, and her vocal performance is honestly quite raw and heartfelt. But god, Boyinaband ruins this song. He is a bad writer, producer, and person. He decided to give this incredibly heavy and emotional song the most tryhard emo and poorly-produced electropop instrumental ever. This song sounds so dated, even by the time it was released. The lyricism here is also pretty decent during Jaiden's parts, but Boyinaband's part ... read more
KSI is somehow more creatively bankrupt than ever. Even though musically he has genuine potential, he still forces himself to make generic bland pop-rap hits about how he went from "the bottom to the top".
I've was always indifferent to KSI, I liked some of his videos and songs, but I've always found him to be a bit of a pretentious person. However, lately, it's abundantly clear that KSI is a very unlikable person. This has never been more apparent than recently, with ... read more
Happy 21st of September!
What can I say about this that hasn't already been said? A genuinely perfect disco song. Iconic, catchy, fun, incredible instrumentation, production, and vocal performances. This song is absolutely euphoric. If you don't like this song, you are genuinely soulless.
I really don't like most pop punk music, but for some reason this song is very endearing, despite suffering from a lot of the same problems that other pop punk songs have. The chorus is really good, and I actually like the vocals, unlike most pop punk songs. The guitar riff is also very simple but memorable, and the production is very solid. Just an overall fantastic song. It's simple musically and the lyrics have no depth, but this song is fun and I really don't have any issues ... read more
"Imaginal Disk" is Magdalena Bay's latest album. Prior to this, I'd only heard their EP, "mini mix vol. 3," which I thought was pretty fun. But I really wasn't expecting just how great this would be. I was a bit caught off-guard by this album and didn't really like it that much on first listen, but after giving it multiple re-listens, I can safely say that this is such an engaging and entertaining listen.
The opening track, "She Looked Like ... read more
VULTURES 2: Electric Boogaloo
Maybe the last of the "VULTURES" series, since I'd be shocked if Part 3 is actually released, knowing Kanye. To be fair, I'm equally surprised this was released. Anyways, based on the rating I was expecting this album to downright suck. But I'm happy to report that it's pretty decent and overhated... At least in my opinion (my opinions are the only correct opinions).
"VULTURES 2" is the second part in the VULTURES trilogy ... read more
Daytona is a pretty consistently solid rap album, but nothing all that interesting.
Pusha's voice across "Daytona" is really nice, the production is fantastic, and there's a few pretty solid instrumentals. But I still find that this album lacks in personality, lyricism, creativity, and it really isn't all that memorable. The opening track, "If You Know You Know", is a strong start to the album. I love the buildup to the drop, which absolutely hits. The fun ... read more
Mori Calliope shows a surprising amount of growth on her latest album, "PHANTOMIME".
Well, I'll be damned, Mori blew me away with this one. I'm not the most familiar with Mori, only having heard a select few of her older songs, which I thought sucked, but I also heard her EP, "JIGOKU 6", and while that EP wasn't nearly as egregious as some of her earlier work, it was pretty consistently mediocre. However, here with her newest album, "PHANTOMIME", ... read more
