"She throwing that shit back at me and I'm catching it like I'm a wide receiver"
JPEGMAFIA is back yet again with his latest album "I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU"; possibly his most intimate project to date. Now I've never been the biggest Peggy fan, don't get me wrong, I like some of his music, but I often found a lot of his music to be lyrically shallow, poorly produced, and even faux-experimental at points. However, the two singles for this album ... read more
A bonus track that encapsulates everything I love about "The Ghost~Pop Tape". A sad song that surrounds you in an entrancing, dreamy, and oddly comforting soundscape. The strange sample, and the hypnotic pad in the background are so memorable. This song, and the album as a whole, still sounds so ahead of its time, I've really never heard anything like it.

Before listening to this album, the only single I'd heard was "Cheerleader", a bubbly and fun electropop song with elements of emo-pop in it. I was expecting the entire album to sound like that, but... I was very wrong. I was not expecting this album to be as sad and vulnerable as it is, especially based on the album title and cover art, which radiates early 2010s-internet vibes. "SMILE! :D" does have that same ... read more
Once again, this absolutely slaps.
Peggy is on a roll with these new singles. The production here, which is usually something I criticize with Peggy, is actually fantastic this time around. The instrumental is brilliant and constantly evolving throughout the track, and I really can't say I expected to see a rap rock song from Peggy, but here we are, and it's perfect. Fusing rap rock with glitch-hop is such a weird idea, but man is it genius. If I'm being honest though one of my ... read more
This might just be the stupidest song ever made. I don't care, it's so fun. The lyrics suck and it's so pretentious, but damn it's just so enjoyable. I love it in all of its cheesy glory, and I love the instrumental, vocals, and production. Such a perfect, but stupid, song.
Why does this exist?
This is just an unneeded bad remix of a classic song. The vocals and performance sound terrible and the instrumental is way too simplified compared to the original, it loses all of its personality.
No words. No words. No way this is real. Kendrick cooked Drake so hard he resorted to doing a parody song in a totally different genre compared to usual with a random artist no one knows.
This song is fun. There are some cringe lyrics in here, but also it's Eminem so what did you expect? However, the instrumental and production here are stellar, and Eminem's performance is pretty good too. The song's fun, and it slaps, so I don't care much about the subpar lyrics. Also, Abracadabra by Steve Miller Band is one of my favorite songs, so I love to hear it get some recognition all this time after its release thanks to this song.
You can't even imagine the surprise on my face when I finished listening to this and found out this didn't come out in 2013, but actually came out this year!
"Slut Pop Miami" sounds like a 2013 pop album with super glossy production- Wait... This album was produced by Dr. Luke!? He still has a career!? Some of the instrumentals on this album are okay, on tracks like "Head Head Honcho" and "Can we fuck?" specifically.
However, the lyricism here is so ... read more
This absolutely slaps. I love the energy of this track, lyrically it's nothing that special but it's fun. I love the production on the first half of the song, it's super energetic, raw, and powerful. This song goes hard for sure.
But, I'm gonna be that guy again... The mixing during the second half where FREAKY comes in is just messy. The vocals sound pretty poorly-recorded and you can barely hear them by that point. The instrumental during this part is also way less ... read more
A really interesting concept for an album.
"BRAT" is my first Charli XCX album, and yeah, this is certainly one of the most interesting things I've heard from a modern pop artist in years. This album is full of so many excellent bangers, from "360", "Club classics", "Sympathy is a knife", "Talk talk", "Von dutch", "Rewind", "Apple", "B2b", "Mean girls", to "365".
But what really ... read more
A beautifully melancholic album.
Nick Drake suffered from depression throughout his life and was an unsociable person. This is perfectly reflected throughout "Pink Moon", an album that deals with themes of depression, friendship, love, life, death, and the beauty of the world. While I haven't heard any other Nick Drake album, I've heard that his previous albums featured a full backing band and were a bit more dense. However, for "Pink Moon", Nick intentionally chose to ... read more
One of the greatest songs of all time from one of the greatest albums of all time.
This song is one of the greatest rap songs ever made. This song has such unparalleled energy due to Kendrick's passionate vocal performance and the simple yet punchy instrumental, with some of the greatest and most impactful lyricism of all time. I always get chills during the final verse of the song as the music builds, Kendrick's vocal performance gets more intense, and the lyricism gets more direct. Then the ... read more
Chilling.
I love the classic-sounding instrumentation and the raw vocal performances and production. One of the greatest covers of all time.
"Certified Lover Boy? Certified pedophiles"
This really feels like Kendrick's victory lap after successfully killing Drake in "meet the grahams". While definitely not nearly as impactful or hard-hitting as his other diss tracks, "Not Like Us" is mostly just Kendrick re-iterating stuff he already said on his previous diss tracks against Drake, but it works very well as Kendrick effectively declaring his victory against Drake.
Really great instrumental and amazing ... read more
Most of this song aged poorly immediately following the release of Kendrick's scathing "meet the grahams", but either way, this is easily the best song Drake has released in years.
I find Drake to be one of the most boring and generic artists in all of music right now, but I can't lie, this is a really good trap banger. I love the beat-switches on this track and the production is smooth. This track might go on a little too long, but honestly, that's just a nitpick since this is a ... read more
Absolute destruction. Oh my god.
I genuinely have no words. While this certainly isn't as interesting musically as "Euphoria", it's way more lyrically scathing. Even though "Euphoria" is much more musically interesting with its many beat switches and interesting flows, the atmosphere on this track is substantially stronger. It really feels and sounds like a depressing look at Drake's life.
I love how introspective the lyrics are, with Kendrick essentially asking Drake to ... read more
Fantastic song. I really love the jazz rap intro, which is honestly the best part of the song, and I was a little disappointed when it transitioned to a trap song, but oh well, the trap beat-switch is still really good. Kendrick's flow is great here, and his unique vocal style really shines here.
Unfortunately, I really don't find the disses on this to be anything special at all. In all honesty, I haven't been paying a lot of attention to this situation since I really ... read more
Super unique and interesting for Twenty One Pilots. I love the lyricism here, though I do find the song to be a bit too long personally. Great production and I love the vocal performance. Very solid song and I'm looking forward to the album.
Phenomenal song. Wow.
I love how this takes Porter's usual sound and adds a layer of emo pop to it, it sounds excellent. The production here is fantastic, and the lyricism about parasocial relationships is very intriguing and well-written. This is easily one of my new favorite Porter Robinson songs, and I absolutely love this track.
10/10!!!
