Steely Dan - Pretzel Logic
60

Certainly a pretty straightforward Steely Dan record, to me pretzel logic and Katy lied our records were I like to call them the puberty era of Steely Dan where they’re trying to find there sound and really hone in on there craft of what makes them work. To me I enjoyed pretzel logic it has some pretty good songs on here with the first free tracks Rikki don’t lose my number, night by night and any major dude will tell you, they’re really cool, catchy and to me is what Steely ... read more

Steely Dan - Katy Lied
58

Beware now it’s time for an unpopular opinion, but i gotta say that Katy lied is kinda so and so for me. Don’t get me wrong the production still good on here and it generally starts off pretty good as well, songs like the Opener Black Friday starts the album pretty good up and Bad Sneakers and Doctor Wu are incredibly catchy. However when I think it starts to fall off is right after Doctor Wu, with the very creepy and offputting song everyone’s gone to the movies, just ... read more

Steely Dan - The Royal Scam
75

Alright before I’m starting I’m getting the Fez on, now suddenly this is where I start to see a real growth in Steely Dan and particularly these last three records from their golden age, starting with The Royal Scam. much more raw version of Steely Dan, it manages to be pretty great with it’s four tracks starting track they are just great, catchy and I feel really that the production becomes razor sharp on here. The first four tracks on the album Kid Charlemagne, The Caves Of ... read more

King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King
87

Was really anticipated to listen to this album since i’ve heard a lot of great reception about it, plus it’s name was used ind one of my favo….from some of the songs I’d had heard from here was ind order epitaph witch has a great orchestral and powerful feel to it, 21th Century Schizoid Man witch has grown on me with this listing to this record and finally the title track witch is just incredible and I’ll get to it later. First giving A listen to this thing I ... read more

Steely Dan - Gaucho
79

Generally a good time Relistening to this thing, generally for that it was almost going to be one of my favorite Steely Dan albums, I’ll get to that later why. Anyways Gaucho is a very laid-back and possibly one of Steely Dan‘s most historical albums. Reason being that a lot of stuff happened during the recording of it Such as Walter Becker getting hit by a car, his wife dying of a overdose, lawsuits and a studio engineer deleting an entire track from the record, it would also be ... read more

Steely Dan - Aja
83

By far my favorite Steely Dan record, By 2019 to 2020 i’ve done a full deep dive into steely Dan’s discography and was really excited to listen to they’re acclaimed Aja. Certainly I feel that this is the best in terms of the songs the production and the performance that Donald Fagen and Walter Becker gives on here. The yacht rock and jazz on here really work well and in my opinion I feel that Steely Dan is great at making a good hook and an earworm in general, and for me ... read more

Marvin Gaye - What's Going On
89

Honestly one thing I’ve noticed by myself is that I always tend to point to an artist and say, Oh he’s the guy that made that funny sexual healing song or he’s the guy who did this and that thing. But for Marvin Gaye I generally think he’s the guy who was hungry and had something to say on his mind with what’s going on. Starting it off this record has a great soul and funk sound to it and already in the title track, Gaye is pouring his heart and soul out and ... read more

Lil Yachty - Let's Start Here.
86

First this dude took the wock to Poland, now he thinks he’s tame Impala and Pink Floyd. In all seriousness I gotta say, wow I did not expect this coming and I don’t think a lot of people saw it either, but let’s start here is somehow yachty doing a psych rock album and you would never hear those two elements blend together but yet they do. It’s surprising how good this thing is since people like Lil Wayne and Kid Cudi I’ve also tried to step into the rock genre and ... read more

Denzel Curry & Kenny Beats - UNLOCKED
81

Has a bit of a madlib inspired production on here, But manages to hold its own ground in a great collection of rap songs with a great sense of energy. This whole thing is kind of impressive knowing it was recorded over short span of time and still throughout its 17 minute run manages to be great all the way. From Kenny’s production to Denzel flows and energy on unlocked, simply manages to be short and sweet. I would also highly recommend the video for unlocked witch you can find on ... read more

Oh no no no no no I don’t wanna ever see that cover again, literally a thirst trap to make you listen to this boring mess. To start off with I was never particularly big on her breakthrough hit munch nor did i really see much potential and ice spice and just someone big record companies could profit of. This thing was only brought to my attention because some I found a video about it while I was scrolling on YouTube. So out of my dumb curiosity and decision I decide to to do a whole spin ... read more

Tame Impala - The Slow Rush
76

While not as great as his last project, still manages to have high points here and there. Before I had heard the entirety of the slow Rush I listen to three songs from it borderline, Breath Deeper and One More Hour from which I thought they were pretty cool and coming off of currents in general enjoying this new synth pop phase of Tame Impala, I was generally curious. I felt that on my first listen it kind of felt off, it was the Tame Impala I was kind of used to but it wasn’t really ... read more

Tyler, The Creator - IGOR
94

Tyler, The Creator this past year had been on my radar and I have started by listening to three of his most recent albums including this one. To start it all off IGOR is a concept album about Tyler falling in love with a boy who already has a lover, so he tries to get him however,it doesn’t really go well for Tyler and in the end he asks if they can still be friends. The production and sound on this record is fantastic and really has the man holding in on a craft and skill being executed ... read more

Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago
97

I think knowing the context of For Emma, Forever Ago really adds more to it, being personal and Drury tone to it. For the vocalist Justin Vernon at the time everything was just going in the wrong directions, having his heart broken and having a liver infection, He drove out to his dad’s cabin living his life out there in the woods and isolated from the world. Knowing this I can definitely visualize living out in the woods hunting my own food, gathering wood and in general being isolated ... read more

Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool
92

This might be the most depressing Radiohead album I have heard from them, it also really gets messy since this was around when frontman thom yorke was going through a divorce. Knowing this knowledge the lyrics on this thing becomes heartbreaking and soul crushing to say the least. Nothing less the music is great on here, it’s relaxing and peaceful while being hunting at the same time, it’s truly Radiohead's most beautiful and gorgeous album they have made in there catalog. The ... read more

Little Simz - Sometimes I Might Be Introvert
88

Really grew on me when I was re-listening to this thing. I first got introduced to Little Sims by Gorillaz with there song garage Palace, I thought it was OK, until one day one of my friends asked me if they wanted to listen to simze’s at the time new record sometimes I might be introvert and gladly volunteered. To really start it off I think the track introvert has a great grand sound with the choi and the Orchestra playing, as well as Sims talking about her childhood and her ... read more

Tamino - Amir
78

Pretty glad i was recommended this record, Amir packs with it a eerie but smooth and soulful middle eastern sound that compliments his feels setto and vocals greatly. The sound of this record is great and can feel grand at points, a highlights witch comes to mind is Chambers with it almost feeling like walking down a corridor and hearing the echos way down. Knowing aswell Taminos place of background gives Amir more life and can really take me somewhere knowing this things origin. There are ... read more

Danny Brown - Atrocity Exhibition
100

One of, if not the wildest hip-hop record I’ve ever listen to, to start things of with. I’ve got to say that Danny Brown has been fast climbing for one of my favorite rappers, with his yelping voice, flow and being able to literally rap over any chaotic beat that this record presents. this thing is also packed with themes of drugs, sex, alcohol and substance abuse and is described with eerie and dark detail. All these themes become very clear on the first opening track downward ... read more

SULKA & Tue Track - Epoker
72

Usually i've not been into much of the danish music and rap scene, but this was pretty alright. To be honest i'd never heard of Sulka and this record and only knew of it's existence because someone recomended it to me. For me, most of danish rap i've heard feels cheap and not really my style, and afterall i could just here artist who do it way better then them. But i think Epoker manages to be pretty interesting with it's beats and momments it has on here and is at least passable danish rap for ... read more

James Blake - Friends That Break Your Heart
80

Even thought i haven't heard James Blakes more electronic works, i really like this one. For some reason i wanted to not like this project since i was really getting into music and didn't find myself to not have found something to be disgusted by. But i shouldn't have slept on this lp because it has a lot of great singer songwriter stuff and manages to pack alot of personal things said through this record. From what i have heard this is James trying something new and i think it's pretty cool ... read more

Radiohead - Kid A
88

Such a cold, droning but beautiful album at the same time. Honestly it has to be said but kid a has to be one of the greatest left turns not only for Radiohead but for music in general. I have a lot of memories with this record wether it is listening to it during my 9 grade exam, listening to it on a road-trip or falling in a deep sleep on tree fingers witch I think is a pretty cool ambient track, to waking op at the end of optimistic. Kid a packs a lot of emotion for an album that sounds all ... read more
