Nemus Anima - The God of Forest

Give this guys better production, since I can hear it being way different, and better with high production.

So the album definetly has a different style to it, from bands I recently hear. It's like a mix of thrash metal, death metal, and black metal (very black metal vocals, and, unfortunately, production, that doesn't work here for me).

So let's talk first about three songs, That I feel are amazing, it's "river of skeletons" "decaying" and "weightless".

I just wanted to start out, for me it is closer to stoner metal, than doom metal, the matt pike influence is here. It is a good mix of both, I won't deny, this is also "doomish" I just feel like this is closer to stoner. Or we can say something completly new, doomer metal.

Anyway, I loved it, I really like riffing, it's exactly the stuff I just love, solos are also amazing. I love vocals a lot, especially with that microphone effect. Album overally sounds old, with a bit of Newer ... read more

I will be honest, I love neurosis, and when it comes to this style, meaning a mix of doom, and sludge, I am all for it. I just love to slow handbang, with that grin on your face.

Face melter riffs, slow, heavy, step by step crawling, building up that tension. Guitars are so distorted, I have a hard time hearing bass, I mean I just love it, I might be biased, but I do not care, at all. The mix of sludge, and doom metal is perfect here, at least for me. The songs are slow and build up, but they ... read more

The Marías - Submarine

Second half really did it for me, no idea if this is just because the "dreamy underwater" vibe peaks, but it really did caught my full attention. I overally did enjoy it, even though I still don't see it, as something I will listen again, with full attention to details, there is just to little going on for music I believe

The Handsome Family - Singing Bones
78

Some songs were too country for my taste, meaning boring, but a few songs did really make me impressed, but overall a very pleasant experience, wish I had read dead redemption 2 installed to play during this album

Karfagen - Messages from Afar: First Contact
82

A very fun listen, a lot of different sounds, it surely takes a lot from prog rock bands, like camel, maybe gentle giant, overally I'd describe it as dream theater, without metal parts, with more space themes. Enjoyed it all the way, simply amazing instrumentals

Moby - Play
82

Amazing EDM album, I enjoyed all the way through. This guy really pushed himself with a full hour album, but it did not bore me. Production is amazing, sound design second to none, and intresting song structure make up for an amazing album. I can definetly see why people call him underrated

Latitudes - Agonist
80

I am struggling wheter the album needed vocals or not. Musically it is an amazing album, and I am wondering if vocals would make it feel more complete.
No idea, but I loved it anyway, since riffs on that album are amazing. They can be very melodic, with doom metal maybe a bit sludge vibes, with also kind of deftones riffs, but less horny, but more dark. I know this description is tough to read, but I also have a tough time describing that album. Bass is amazing, it was a massive sound changer ... read more

Engelbert Humperdinck - A Man Without Love
75

Very solid album, with amazing vocals, and cool and classic instrumentals. I just don’t think it is anything special or iconic for 60’, this is just set of amazingly solid songs.

Sezen Aksu - Deniz Yıldızı
88

Okay my god why does this slap so hard.

I am in the loss of words, did not expect that much of a change from the two other albums recommended to me. By @Aiysheff2

Songs are so filled with everything that is amazing, string instruments (I don’t all these are guitars), electric guitars (a pleasant addition) violins, drums with some “Balkan” flavor, I am just amazed.
Songs are straight up beautiful, and interesting. Not much vocals here, at least compared to two others albums ... read more

Well that feels way different. I certainly didn’t get that Turkish tv series vibe (which is not bad as a thing, but does make me chuckle, since these tv series are so shit, they are good.

While songs are shorter, I feel they do way more than the previous album I listened to (deli kizin turkusu).
This album, has way more interesting little sounds, song themselves feel way easier to get into, are way more catchy, and vocals are amazing, and somehow (I believe) better here on debut, than on ... read more

I know I am a bit late with, but I really didn’t liked

So that album was first in the order, and first thing that comes to my mind is, Turkish tv series. My polish grandma watches like 3-4 of these, and Music there is basically this. I am even wondering whether few of these are not from tv series, since they sounded really, really familiar

About music itself, it’s good, but it’s a hard to listen in one go. I can definitely see myself coming back to songs individually, since ... read more

NewJeans - How Sweet

No clue what I am doing here, but I enjoyed it

Wallows - Model

While it has quite a few interesting melodies, album as a whole falls off.
Songs are not memorable, and most of them feel cut short, or written like in a day randomly, During jam session. This is just an average album, I might give it lower rating in future, If I will ever decide to come back to that album

Vince Staples - Dark Times
80

I listened to it happily two times. I don’t have much to say, I like the flow, beats, style, everything is interesting.

Bring Me The Horizon - POST HUMAN: NeX GEn
51

After the album ended, Spotify automatically played me moodring. I was fully convinced that it was still BMTH new album.
Meaning? It did feel not original. It’s not even about them changing style, my problem is, they copied the style.
Even beside that, I’d not say songs felt really well done either. Boring “riffs” and already familiar sounds, are compiled with rather weird and questionable song writing. Their songs are really chorus based, since these were the only ... read more

Kerry King - From Hell I Rise

This is slayer without creative output of other members.
What made slayer great, we’re actually, leading guitars (I of course don’t mean solos, but more of melodic riffs)
Slayer, while it was of course, very thrash metal, still had amazing melodic riffs, which were still heavy. I believe Lombardo and Jeff were responsible for actually good song writing.
Kerry, usually did all power chord riffs, that usually needed some spicing from Jeff.
This album is basically this, only power ... read more

A mixed bag for me. It is just, some songs are amazing, others I feel could be way more, and fall into basic category, others, I wish were not added at all

Songs like “at the risk of feeling dumb” make feel just tired, lavish might be most annoying 2:30 minutes on that album.

Midwest indigo for me feels unfinished. Feels like they had an idea, and made a very repetitive song that gets better only towards the end (meaning the song went in some direction)

And I love quite a few ... read more

Hard to rate, these are basically 3 songs in completly different styles. Overall intresting album, but I am not sure if I really enjoyed it all that much.

Gatecreeper - Dark Superstition
70

A solid album, with amazing riffs. I just feel a bit, like it lacks some real face melters. Not many points where I felt like doing a mosh pit. Song structure is also sometimes weird, it is trying to be unnecessarily huge. I feel like they try to do something similar to Job For A Cowboy "Moonhealer" but more riffs based, but JFAC did it way better.
Not much to say, this is an album with solid death metal riffs, but it doesn't go far beyond it. And riffs are not that amazing, to make ... read more
