Whoever made the decision to put The Weeknd on that ‘I Don’t Wanna Know’ hook is a true visionary.
This is soooo annoying bc it’s far and away one of the cleanest produced albums of the year but I just can’t bring myself to listen to more than three songs on the bounce bc of how much of a cornball his delivery is.
This album doesn’t have to do much in order to be great because of the perfect execution of something so simple. Just some raw guitar textures and soft and cozy vocals done right and what comes out is this spacey enigma of a record that wraps you in a comfort blanket made of sound tones.
I can’t score it much higher because my tastes always lean towards maximalist rather than minimalist, but honestly, I couldn’t recommend this enough specifically as background music to calm ... read more
Led Zeppelin’s self titled debut is at their most raw and bluesy. Home to many of their best tracks but the best is still yet to come.
This is the last Brockhampton album I’ll recognise. A bittersweet goodbye from Kevin’s individual perspective. He goes in detail explaining the break up and a last ditch effort-trying to make amends. The closer ‘Brockhampton’ is the perfect closer for their entire discography. It brings a tear to my eye.
Thanks to the best boyband since One Direction for being a bright light in my life. Long live Brockhampton.
There’s entire summers I can dedicate to this band. I’m not sad it’s over, more happy it happened. I just wish they finished on a high.
Nas - King’s Disease III [2022]
Nas completes his King’s Disease trilogy with a victory lap in glamorous fashion. Introspective cuts reflecting on his extensive career in a braggadocious yet mature manner.
Nas has seamlessly taken upon this wise grandfather role in Hip hop - sharing his wisdom through experience and giving his advice on the industry politics, black on black violence and reflects upon genre defining beefs to display how futile beefs end up in extreme violence ... read more
I really want to love this. It has all the components of an album I’d fall in love with but somethings not clicking at all. ‘Titanic Rising’ still sounds infinitely better to me. I guess it’s just one of those things.
System of a Down are so relentless on Toxicity, 45 minutes of nothing less than A+ performances. Each track tackling a focused introspective theme or ideology delivered with the most extreme ferocity.
At points it comes across as corny and forced but I feel that only adds to the charm that embodies the state of metal in the 2000s with SoaD sitting at the top of that hill.
Firm believer that this is only regarded as influential because it’s a rock record from the 50s when in fact Elvis presents zero good ideas along with zero engaging songs. Elvis was nothing more than a white persons excuse to listen to Rock ‘n’ Roll. Bad.
On the surface a well put together indie rock album high-tempo guitar riffs, energetic vocals, cohesive indie rock record.
Beneath the surface, well, not a lot. It’s fun for its runtime but leaves zero lasting impression.
Nutshell is such a beautiful song. One of the best Alt Rock tunes ever. Better than any Nirvana song. I said what I said.
First half shits on the second so badly it deams to second side rather redundant.
