music feels so inherently content, like sitting around that camp fire depicted in the cover and just listening to every single song with my mouth dropped in amazement. so warm, introspective and rich.
black midi - Hellfire
The technical abilities are flirting with the possibility of arrogance. Extremely ambitious, on the flip side undoubtedly self indulgent but still feels annoyingly honest. They truly have the talent to make whatever they like knowing it will sound majestically grandeur.
black midi’s third LP takes the exploding experimental rock scene to a new level, fleshing out the Jazz / Prog rock ideas that were planted in ‘Cavalcade’. Hellfire’s hellish ... read more
Soccer Mommy - Sometime, Forever
Been two years since I first enjoyed her previous album so safe to say I was eager to jump into this one upon release. I really like the directional change from a more traditional bedroom pop to a more fleshed out neo-psych/dream pop sound on ‘Sometimes, Forever’
I really enjoy blissful postmodern production complimentary to the ever expected dreamy vocals. This helps the tracklist feel so fluid in emotional tones the songs either sound like tall ... read more
Rex Orange County - WHO CARES?
This is Rex’s what 4 LP as of now and I don’t understand how this man has gone so far without any stylistic evolution.
I really tried to make myself like his music, I must’ve once upon a time but now I just feel so hollow listening to him. I feel like I’m waiting for something to surprise me which never comes. His vocals were once enticing and warm feelings whereas now it does nothing for me, blend that with his bland ass lyrics with not ... read more
Animal Collective - Time Skiffs
After over a decade of being unapologetically mediocre the Neo-Psych titans finally feel like they are back on the right path.
Time Skiffs is rich with vibrant and creative soundscapes that beg to be bounced along to. Take ‘Strung with Everything’ as a cheap example. The song builds with a certain mystique like the band are just playing around with certain sounds just eager to find something to take the song into any direction it needs until it ... read more
vibey lo-fi, drum and bass, bedroom pop??? i am not sure how to define this but it’s a lovely introduction to Pinkpantheress’ discography and leaves me wanting to hear what more she has to offer.
Do you ever get a bit sick of listening to new releases. I often get a feeling that no album is ever going to come by and sweep me away with captivation. I often feel like nothing can move me like my old favourites have in the past.
And then as all hope is almost lost, a rocket of a record comes my way and takes me on a journey through the Milky Way. The satisfaction of every orchestral layer elevating my soul to new levels I forgot music could take me.

my favourite piece from Sufjan in years. some of his greatest melodies
I want to hug and punch the next fucker I see.
What a good time this album proves to be. Not a single dull moment in its entire runtime. Classic harsh punk vocals layered over some of the best guitars of the last decade combined with introspective and often uplifting lyricism.
Potentially my favourite punk album ever.
Car seat Headrest - Twin Fantasy (Face to Face)
a review on the ‘stop smoking - keep smoking’ character arc >>
Every modern day indie band or any rock band for that matter should look towards this record for influence. It’s everything that modern guitar music should sound like; Creative and unpredictable instrumentals (especially riffs), unique and addictive melodies, and song writing full of personality and character)
Toledo delivered a perfect album, and it was a ... read more
This was the second Radiohead album I listened to after OKC, my initial thoughts were that it was a worthy predecessor to their magnum opus but since returning after exploring the remainder of their glorified catalogue, I struggled to find many redeemable qualities when stood besides all their later efforts. The Bends sounds like an extremely polished alt rock / britpop release and not a lot more than that (not always a negative).
I feel I am being too harsh, I believe that the standard of ... read more
Every once in a while something unexpected will venture into your world whether it be as significant as a person, opportunity or view point. Or seemingly insignificant, like a conversation or self image. This ‘thing’ can define an era of your existence it becomes embedded in the way you operate within your everyday life. For me this ‘thing’ came in the form of an album. An album which is more than a ‘masterpiece’, more than a ‘classic’ it ... read more
