A lot of the metal instrumentals are enjoyable but as per usual with this band there are two main issues with this project:
1. Every attempt at genre bend, any song or texture that strays from their Djent sound ranges from either cringe and rancid to boring and empty
2. Their vocalist is cringe, writes horrible, tasteless melodies that don't fit with the instrumentals at all, and ruins everything the band might have going for them
This is just too fucking wholesome a sound to discover from her as someone who's coming from her recent projects. Puts a smile on my face for sure.
"i still have no idea why people have a problem with the scott pilgrim song the message isn't even bad dont be a whore and a druggie like dawg is that a bad thing to say😭" - Is this guy retarded?
"blah blah the message is bad or something, who cares the music is good." - Is this guy retarded too?
The entire aesthetic of this project sucks fucking ass. Its so whiney, trashy, and unoriginal in every way. Music that succeeds with this type of aesthetic finds a way ... read more
Very good, just suffers from "one-noted" syndrome that a lot of the genre struggles to break out of
I've tried for so long to like this thing and I bores the shit out of me every time. I'm generally able to get why albums I specifically don't love are loved, but this one feels like slop to me

This thing is shrinking on me heavy. Album sounds great, has some bangers, but overall I just can't help but feel that the songwriting doesn't hold under relistens.
I'm seeing criticisms of the lyrics. Wasn't paying too much attention to them, but guys they knocked this one out of the park come on? This thing sounds fucking fantastic. The production and attention to detail in these songs is just so rewarding.
Hello? Entombed? Where've you been all my life? Seriously how the fuck does this album sound SOOOOOO GOOOOD.... I don't think I listened to a remaster???? This shit is so ahead of its time, and it fucks so goddamn hard.
This is as enchanting as every overwhelmingly positive review promises, however I can't help but feel the tone is a bit one-noted. Maybe Ill discover more nuance upon relistens.
OK guys, what are we doing. I unfortunately saw what fantano scored this before I got around to listening, which completely pissed me off because I knew 1. it would influence me and 2. Fantano usually tends to validate my hotter takes, and so 3. i would probably end up agreeing and then feel like a simp. And jesus 3 came true, but guys this album obviously sucks and I'm shocked at its rating.
I have to respect the ambition, but there is no substance and the execution of this entire ... read more
Usually, music of this pace is more a challenge for me. Overtime I've certainly improved my stamina, but still. This album, however, is just so enjoyable through and through. Beautiful, light but dense instrumentation. Moving, straightforward, relatable messages. Just so so nice.l
Pretty fun but man was i expecting something more artsy and cohesive after that KILLER last record
This is my first fully conscious experience with a Mitski album and I'm pleasantly surprised. I expected something much closer to mid.
The Greatest Metal Album of All Time. In a massive genre filled with masterpieces, Jane Doe is the singularity for Metal: its beginning and end, past and future. The epitome of metalcore. Nothing sounds like this, nothing feels like this, nothing does metal as metal as Jane Doe. Perfecting and enhancing what the genre aims to do at the most primal, rudimentary, rip-out-your-ex's-vocal-chords level, while tackling their songwriting and production with mind-blowing levels of finesse, class, ... read more
