Nas - It Was Written
95

Favorite: The message, I gave you power, Affirmative Action, The set up, Suspect, Shootouts, If I Ruled The world
This is the second Nas album I listened. The storytelling on this album is interesting and vivid, and the beats are fire. I have liked every single song on this album, this is illmatic level, no cap.

GZA - Liquid Swords
90

Favorite: Duel of the Iron Mic, Cold World, 4th Chamber, Investigative Reports, BIBLE
Didn't know SZA could rap that well.
This album starts strong, but somehow GZA&RZA managed to make stuff even better in the middle. The story and lyricism in this album are some of the best in the 90s, RZA's beat is catchy and well-produced, overall amazing.

The Notorious B.I.G. - Ready to Die
90

Favorite: Gimme the loot, One More Chance, Juicy, Big Poppa, Unbelievable, Suicidal Thoughts
Biggie's rapping is the highlight of this album; his flow, every verse, the rhyming, everything is top tier. Diddy's production is really good, but not as creative and interesting as the legendary producers like Kanye and Dr. Dre.

JAY-Z - The Blueprint
90

Favorite: Takeover, Hola Hovito, Heart of the city, Song Cry, renegade, Lyrical Exercise
Kanye's production is so powerful in this period of time; every song he produces is impeccable. Jay-z's rapping is just different. How he memorizes every song's lyrics when recording is impressive. There's only one skip on this album for me. Pretty good.

Common - Be
100

Favorite: Be(Intro), The Corner, Faithful, They Say
Kanye and Dilla's production is so beautiful, every beat feels unique and creative, and the entire album is so refreshing to listen to. The storytelling from Common adds perfectly to the beats, and it's just all the right people meeting at the right time creating this stunning project.

Run The Jewels - RTJ4
85

Favorite: yankee and brave. holy calamaf*, JU$T, a few words for the firing squad
Mindblowing production from start to finish, the chemistry between EI-P and Killer Mike is perfect. This album showcases their consistency to make banger after banger, no skips at all.

Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP
80

Favorite: Stan, The way I am, Slim Shady, I'm Back, Marshall Mathers, Bitch Please ii, Criminal
Eminem's ability to rhyme is one of the best of all time. This album has some of the craziest stories, and he keeps it engaging and interesting for the audience. But the music and flow are getting repetitive for a few tracks in the end, and the story is too much for me. I don't think this album is at the level of some of the old-school classic albums.

Dr. Dre - 2001
90

Favorite: The watcher, Still DRE, XXplosive, What's the difference, Forgot about Dre, Let's get high, Murder ink, Bang Bang
This album included so many rap legends in their prime, especially Eminem. The feature list is so stacked, and the bangers bang so much. There's one or two skips to me, but the other tracks are so well made, including the production, the rapping performance, and the lyrics. The amount of classics is also insane to me. Still Dre, What's the difference, ... read more

Metro Boomin - Metro Boomin Presents: A Futuristic Summa
55

Favorite: butterflies, drip bbq
Aside from Metro's decent but repetitive production scheme, every song is no different than Eenie Meenie by Justin Bieber. Terrible vocals and mediocre melody define the entire album. Too much pop and little rap.

Dr. Dre - The Chronic
85

Favorite: Fuck wit dre day, nuthin but a g Thang, lil ghetto boy, stranded on death row, Rattattattat, bitches aint shit
Dre excels not only in producing, but also in selecting the perfect features for each beat he creates. This album is perfectly produced, and most of these songs are bangers, an amazing record.

Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
95

Favorite: King of carrot flowers, in the aeroplane over the sea, two headed boy, hollan 1945'
The mixing on the guitar is perfect, the instrument choice is interesting, vocal performance is raw but full of emotion. There is just a weird magic that makes me feel this is one of the best indie rock albums of all time.

Cocteau Twins - Heaven or Las Vegas
100

Favorite: Cherry-coloured funk, Fifty0fifty clown, heaven or las vegas
Otherworldly experience start to finish, no other album gives me this much emotion and floating feeling. Perfect dream pop album.

Freddie Gibbs & Madlib - Piñata
95

FavoriteE: High, Shitville, Robes, Shame, Pinata
Freddie's flow is so consistently good, and Madlib just has the most unique and interesting sample idea of all time. The combination of the two creates classics multiple times, and this is the best.

Nas - Illmatic
100

Favorite: NY State of Mind, Memory Lane, One Love
The fact that Nas created this at the age of 20 is beyond imagination. The level of rapping performance and lyricism is crazy, and the beat is so ahead of its time. Unlike a lot of classic rap albums, this one maintains a really high replay value. The charisma of this album exceeds the music. Even though I have never been to New York, is album perfectly portrays the street life of New York in the 90s.

5th listen: Memory Lane made me cry.

Little Simz - Sometimes I Might Be Introvert
90

Favorite: Introvert, I love you I hate you, Little q, pt2, Standing Ovation, Rollin Stone, Protect my energy, Point and kill, How did you get there
The instrumental is the definition of my type of music, probably because of my interest in symphony, opera, and synthpop. The flow and the verse are so insane and unique, I have felt this way for an album. This album not only contains immaculate quality but also keeps up the diversity throughout the tracklist, listening to the entire album feels so ... read more

Wu-Tang Clan - Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)
95

Favorite: Shame on a Ni*, Wutang:7thchamber, CREAM, Method man
Such a classic rap album, so influential to many rappers such as MF Doom, danny brown, etc. Sample and production are too good to be released in the 90s, every song is nothing less than great, and the storytelling is also intriguing. The verse from each member is so diverse and interesting, and their chemistry is perfect, nothing feels repetitive or mundane for the whole hour of the album experience.

Pusha T - DAYTONA
80

Favorite: IF you know you know, The games we play, Santeria, What would meek do?
I appreciate Pusha and Kanye's effort in this 20-minute record. I can feel that they put a lot of work into every track. Kanye's production is flawless as always. However, the album is a little too short, while no track stands out to me, therefore I don't feel this is that good of an album as other people feel.

Run The Jewels - Run The Jewels 2
90

Favorite: oh my darling, close your eyes, love again
There are so many bangers on this album, picking a favorite for this is so hard. I love almost every beat and rapping performance. Truly one of the best hip hop album of the 21st century.

Sweet Trip - You Will Never Know Why
90

Favorite: Air supply, Milk, Darkness, Misfortunes are cruel, Your world is eternally complete
THis album is so consistently good. The experience is other-worldly. Though I won't say its the best dream pop album oat, this connects with me so much.the melody of every tracks is beautiful, there is simply no skip, I love it.
