sea creatures, aliens, and sentient robots: the 3 entities that probably created this album.
Gives you absolutely no time to breath so much so that it could be considered erotic asphyxiation
once you stop comparing this album to his other works, you’ll realize it’s not as bad as some people say it is.
I’ve never heard anything like this since I’ve first listened to it and I probably never will
An afterthought of a rap album
I can’t deny that cities aviv had a vision for this album but it all feels pretty unclear and blurry when listening through it. But then again, it almost feels like that was done on purpose. There’s some great songs on here added with some more ambient cuts. I guess my main issue is that it doesn’t feel like a full comprehensive album. But I will say, when cut down to its finest details, you can find something interesting in there. It almost ... read more
I do think this rating will get higher after a few listens.
I haven’t really been on the Dijon radar ever since his previous album “Absolutely”. I’ve heard a few songs on that album, notably the first one. But I decided to give this album a shot because.. honestly I don’t know why but I will say.. this was great.
This project manages to be chaotic whilst also sounding beautiful. Before I say anything more, I just want to say Dijon’s voice is so pretty. ... read more
From party bangers to mellow pop rap bops..
JVB has always been a personal favorite duo of mine. I’ve been a fan since their song “Double Jump” and it’s so great to see them evolve from the bangers of their debut “PUNK TACTICS” to the bops of “NO HANDS” and now we’re entering a new era known as “HYPERYOUTH”. And I can confidently say this is their best record to date, just because of its versatility and different approach to ... read more
And the heat goes on..
Remain in Light is honestly one of the most unique, weirdest and groovy records I’ve heard ever. It takes funky to a whole new level by molding it into this culmination of weirdness and manages to create such a strange and dense piece of music.
Every song is a bop that is jam packed with slurred rhythms and good vibes overall. It feels almost animalistic in a way. It’s repetitive in an intentional way to make it easier to just catch the groove, and just ... read more
I mean it’s something…
I think the worst part about this tape is xul himself. His tired vocal cadence does work at points but most of the time it just sounds like nonsensical mumbles. Most of the beats on this are pretty ass but they almost sound like they’re bad on purpose. But honestly there are moments where this album works, and I won’t deny that. It’s definitely unique for sure but god does it sound bad when it tries too hard to actually be unique. Once ... read more
good beats, good vibes. could be mixed better and just more polished overall but those first three songs will always be a highlight in my playlists
$ilk is back and is just as fresh as ever.
$ilkmoney has always been one of my personally favorite rappers so when this was teased about a year ago, I was pretty excited. His last album ending up being one of my favorites of 2023, so when this dropped, part of me expected to be a bit disappointed. But no, he managed to deliver once again with a fun and entertaining performance. The only the more outrageous than the song titles is $ilk himself.
The songs on this album go really hard. Although ... read more
