Combining her soft sweet voice and her screaming, sometimes even at the same time, over these metal instrumentals gives us a great EP. It's incredible how it can be so hard-hitting but still catchy. None of these 5 songs miss. They're energetic and rough, I love it.

Poppy took a bit of a different turn again, and It's not my vibe. It starts off fine, but when we come to the middle of the record some songs are just nagging and annoying, for instance ´Flicker´, ́1s + 0s' and 'Zig'. I think the fast hi-hats on some of the songs are fun, but overall this record isn't what I like about Poppy's style. It's sad 'Spit' isn't on here, that was my favorite single before she dropped this album.

I'm relistening to her albums in the incorrect order, but this is actually a lot more fun than 'Therapy'. While it is very dated, probably even for it's time. It is bad in a fun way, where I can some nostalgia from this time and the early 2010's.

EDIT (53 -> 31):
Now I've got a better concept of what great pop music can be, this is just very painful to listen to. It is very clearly made to be music for the radio. But it's sooooo dry and boring... I can't believe I actually used to listen to some of this album.

This is a decent enough pop record, but it doesn't bring anything too special. Anne-Marie has a fun voice, which works for this kind of music. But it ... read more
This album isn't great, it's mostly generic, (dance)-pop songs. With a big ol' middle finger to your ex. Sometimes sounding kinda toxic and unhealthy, but that's probably the goal. Some choruses are also so repetitive, something Anne-Marie has done more often. The biggest example is 'UNHEALTHY'. I do think 'PSYCHO' is a fun track to listen to, not taking it too seriously. 'GRUDGE' is quite fun as well, standing out in this album, but ... read more
This album is all groove, it is so much fun to listen to. The only real criticism you can give this record is that it only lasts 31 minutes (36 with 'Love's Train'). I understand that they wanted to keep the quality of the songs as high as possible, not making any 'filler' songs. But I'm sure if they delayed the album, these 2 creative geniuses could've come up with even more bangers. They compliment each other's voices so well in every song. And especially Bruno just keeps surprising with his ... read more
Even though some of the songs on this album might be among my favorite Bruno Mars tracks, Unorthodox Jukebox feels like the biggest mixed bag for me. 'Locked Out Of Heaven', 'Treasure' and ´When I Was Your Man´ are absolutely phenomenal, Bruno at his best. But the rest of the album feels a bit underwhelming compared to what I'm used to hear from him.
Vocally, Bruno is always top-tier, but many song lack creative writing. And then there's 'Young ... read more

After some more listens, I've grown some appreciation for 'Perm' and 'Call All My Lovelies'. They just don't meet at the same level as some of the other tracks on here.

´24K Magic´ is a perfect starter for this funky album. It bring so much groove and a very interesting side sound with those talkbox vocals. The same energy and groove is created with ´Chunky´. Then ... read more

A lot of what I said is still true, but I let the nostalgia run wild a bit too much in my ratings, therefore I brought them down a little bit.

Bruno Mars was the first artist I ever knew about, and this was the first album I listened to as a kid. Therefore it has a lot of nostalgic value for me. It is a near perfect pop album, with some R&B and reggae influences. Some lyrics are definitely a bit corny or cliché, but ... read more
The album mostly has songs balancing on being blend & boring and sometimes being somewhat cute. The ones leaning towards the cute side for me are: 'Magical', 'Blue', 'Spring'. I think 'Page' is also a beautiful sadder song. 'Punchline' is probably one of Ed's better songs ever. Especially towards the end it is an unlike Ed vocal take.
'Midnights' is the only song that stands out badly to me, those fast drums really give me a headache, especially towards the start, idk why, but they did. ... read more
This is Ed's most 'pop', commercial record yet and that doesn't help it at all. Most of the songs are very forgettable and bland. They have zero personality or recognizability. There's only 2 songs that'd get a decent score. Those are 'First Times', which is just a cute concept, and 'Visiting Hours', which is a beautiful track about being able to visit heaven.
One of the songs that stood out to me in a bad way was 'Shivers'. It ... read more
I’ve listened to this album about a million times and to be fair, half the tracks have been forced onto us through the radio for years. Looking back, it’s not as great as I once thought. As a teenager I used to live for this kind of acoustic and relatable music. But as my taste has evolved, I find myself gravitating toward songs with more depth and interesting arrangements. It’s hard to judge it completely objectively when the songs are basically tattooed into my memory, but ... read more
