Future - WE DON'T TRUST YOU
68

This is the kind of album that keeps me interested in trap music. It’s already iconic for essentially igniting the Drake vs. Kendrick beef with 'Like That', but beyond the headlines, it’s a genuinely solid project.

Metro Boomin’s production is top-tier. His ability to craft detailed, dynamic beats is impeccable. Pair that with Future’s effortless delivery and charisma, and you’ve got a decent record.

The biggest difference between songs here is the ... read more

Justin Bieber - SWAG
34

Surprise album by J Biebs?! Definitely didn’t see this one coming… unfortunately, it’s not great.

While I’m sure this record holds a lot of personal meaning for Justin, it doesn’t quite resonate with me. The first few tracks suggest a theme around love and life in the spotlight. How Justin and Hailey cope with the pressure, which could’ve been interesting if it had been treated with more care and depth.

As the album progresses that theme starts to fall ... read more

Kesha - .
62

“You want kids? Well I AM MOTHER!!!”. If there’s one line that sums up this record, it’s that. Kesha is finally free. Free from her bloodsucking label, free from toxic relationships, and most importantly, free from the grasp of that cunt, Dr. Luke. And she’s not afraid to scream it from the rooftops. Where her previous album dealt with the pain and suffocation of that situation, this one is about liberation. She’s done surviving, now she’s thriving.

Kendrick Lamar - good kid, m.A.A.d city

I’ll be honest, I was a bit nervous when I started my firsten listen to this album. The first couple of tracks didn’t immediately hit the standard I usually hold Kendrick to. Lyrically they were still great, but the instrumentals seemed all over the place and I wasn't really digging it, like I hoped I would.

But thankfully, as the album progressed, I started connecting more deeply with the songs. I got to understand the concept Kendrick was trying to set. A story about his ... read more

YUNGBLUD - Idols
80

YES YES YES YES! The good YUNGBLUD album finally arrived and I’m so happy about it!

I’ve been listening to YUNGBLUD for a while now. Throughout his career he’s definitely had some decent tracks, but what had drawn me in is his voice, his presence, and his chaotic energy on stage. That thick accent and rasp just hit something for me. But his lyrics could get cringe and cliché and the pop-punk instrumentals often felt a bit immature. It just wasn’t fully ... read more

Benson Boone - American Heart

Oh god, the MAGA crowd is going to eat this album up, but for the rest of us, who actually have ears? It's painfully boring. The vocals are so overdone and so strained, it's hard to take him seriously at all. And it's so obvious how good he thinks he is. How is this guy the only male ‘popstar’ with mainstream presence right now? It’s honestly depressing. Harry Styles, Bruno Mars, anyone please step up and put this fool in his place.

I only gave this a shot ... read more

Addison Rae - Addison
56

If you had told me five years ago that Addison Rae would be on the rise as a pop star, I would’ve laughed in your face. Yet here we are.

I have to admit, I've been pretty skeptical of Addison stepping into the mainstream. There's definitely an inherent bias that's formed from her Tiktok era. But honestly, this record isn't bad. What holds it back for me is that her vocals aren't particularly daring. She clearly aims for that Lana del Rey vibe, but it doesn't ... read more

Avril Lavigne - Love Sux
51

Is this the most pop-punk Avril Lavigne has ever been? I think so. While I’m not super familiar with her entire discography, it feels like she leaned more into pop in the ‘Girlfriend’ and ‘Complicated’ eras.

This record definitely has some fun pop-punk tracks, but overall it feels mediocre and repetitive. Ballads like ‘Avalanche’ and ‘Dare To Love Me’ drag it down, they feel unnecessary and honestly boring.

FKA twigs - EUSEXUA

EDIT: Having listened to it more it doesn't have a very high replay value for me, but I can still appreciate great art when it's infront of me.

Original review: You can just tell the production on this record is so insanely impressive and crisp. This album just puts me in a trance and I love it for that.

Ariana Grande - Sweetener
75

This might be my favorite Ariana Grande album. Even though it also includes what I think is her worst song. I have no idea what happened with ‘the light is coming’. It's a chaotic, god-awful track, and the fact that it was even released as a single is wild. Ariana shines when she leans into her full vocal range and those lush backing harmonies, but on that Nicki Minaj collab, she does the exact opposite.

Thankfully, the rest of the album reminds us of what she does best. Her ... read more

JENNIE - Ruby

A little while ago I awarded the best solo project by a Blackpink member to 'Alter Ego'. I can confidently say 'Ruby' takes that crown now!

Jennie shows some real personality on this record. That's something that's been a difficult transition for a lot of K-Pop stars. Jennie also got some amazing features on this album that work really well with her.

Songs like 'Mantra' and 'Love Hangover' are just really fun and catchy pop songs. ... read more

Lady Gaga - MAYHEM
83

LADY GAGA IS SOOOO BACK! I’ve always enjoyed Gaga’s music, but the sound she started with on The Fame Monster and Born This Way is still my favorite and on this record, she brings that vibe back in a fresh, modern way. The singles ‘Disease’ and ‘Abracadabra’ had me hyped, and thankfully the album delivers on that promise (at least in the first half).

The top half of this record is absolutely fantastic and will be on repeat for a long time. The second half ... read more

NAV - OMW2 REXDALE
32

Autotune crooning just isn’t for you, NAV. I get that it’s supposed to sound tough or moody, but it just ends up sounding goofy. I don’t buy a word of it.

One of the biggest issues here is the choruses. They’re not catchy at all. Most of them feel like slightly rearranged verses. And when they are catchy, it’s usually just because they’re overly repetitive in the most boring way possible.

Then there’s the track with Playboi Carti, where Carti actually ... read more

Selena Gomez - I Said I Love You First
49

There's a new couple's review!!!! (I honestly didn't know they were dating up until the release of this album)

As someone who’s never really been a big fan of Selena’s music, I came into this with a fair bit of skepticism. The singles suggested a more personal direction, which I was open to, but once I listened to the full album, the influences quickly became obvious. You can hear heavy shades of Lana Del Rey on tracks like 'Sunset Blvd', 'How Does It ... read more

Playboi Carti - MUSIC

This is why old white people hate rap music.

Okaay this is the first album of Playboi Carti I reviewed, or even listened to. I obviously heard some of his more popular songs, but I gotta say rage music might not be for me. I think after this listen I'm mostly confused and very overstimulated... I started listening and couldn't find any structure in the first 2 tracks. They just sounded so messy and structure-less, as if it was a bad demo. Then 'K POP' made some sort of ... read more

ABBA - Voulez-Vous

It’s a shame ‘Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!’ is only on the deluxe edition, but even without it, this is an amazing record.

It’s funny to think that liking ABBA used to be considered uncool, but now everyone’s embracing their radiant joy. This more Euro-disco-leaning album is just so fun and danceable. It makes you want to get on the dancefloor immediately.

The fact that ABBA is still such a massive name today really speaks to how timeless their melodies are.

LE SSERAFIM - HOT
61

LE SSERAFIM made one of my favorite K-Pop debuts, but since then, they haven’t quite recaptured that same creative spark.

That said, this is definitely a step up from their last EP. ‘HOT’ and ‘Ash’ bring a fun, dance-pop energy that really works for them. The rest of the tracks, though, feel more like filler isn't bad, but nothing that sticks out either.

Here’s hoping they can tap into that creative energy from their debut again soon.

Roxy Dekker - Mama I Made It

The Dutch superstar who shot to fame two years ago finally drops her debut album and she proves once again that she knows how to write a hit. Every single released ahead of the album pulled huge streaming numbers, and it makes sense: she’s great at picking catchy melodies and pairing them with light, self-aware lyrics that don’t take themselves too seriously.

The result is an album that’s pure vibes. It’s not groundbreaking by any means, but it’s fun enough to ... read more
