Another BLACKPINK girlie with a solo project and honestly, this might be the best one so far.
That said, this album is all over the place. There’s barely any cohesion, and as a listener, you get flung from one genre to another. From electronic-trap to disco, to pop-rap, to afrobeats. While showing versatility is great, it makes the full album experience feel a bit chaotic and disjointed.
Still, there are some solid songs here. A lot of Korean artists switching to English releases tend ... read more
Queer pop continues to slay in 2025, and Rebecca delivers a short but seriously fun record.
Do I wish it was longer? Absolutely. But honestly, I’ll always take a tight, filler-free album over one that overstays its welcome. If this is all she had ready and didn’t want to pad it with half-baked ideas, I totally respect that.
The only track I’m unsure about right now is ‘Tears In My Pocket’. Maybe it will grow on me eventually?
Aside from that, I don’t have ... read more
EBU CAN SUCK MY DICK!
EenhoornJoost. My guy! I've been following him for years, and as a fellow Dutchie, I’ve always loved his humor and the way he weaves it into his music. I get that gabber/hardcore isn't for everyone, but Joost brings such a unique twist to the genre. Clever lyrics, unexpected build-ups to the drop, different vocal styles and he does all of this in three different languages. Singing and rapping in all three of them. Has that ever been done this well ... read more
I HATE AVA MAX! HOW IS THIS ALBUM ACTUALLY PRETTY WELL RATED TF?!?!
I know pop albums can get a lot of bot-boosted love, but this is wild. I only checked it out because I noticed how many streams some of the songs had and I wanted to see how many I’d recognize. Turns out? A lot… unfortunately.
Just a blur of bland interpolations and soulless production. She pulls from well-known songs but manages to suck all the life out of them. If these tracks weren’t getting so much ... read more
Tate gives us a much more interesting listen this time around. She’s channeling a bit of that early 2000s Nelly Furtado/Britney Spears energy and it works surprisingly well. She’s also finding her own lane with more sexual lyrics, though in a very different way than someone like Sabrina Carpenter is doing right now.
While this record still didn’t blow me away, it feels like she’s moving in the right direction. Will I ever be fully sold on a Tate McRae album? Maybe ... read more
As someone who's been a Drake hater for a very long time (pre-Kendrick beef), I wasn't very excited about this record. I only listened to it to see if there would be any shots taken at Kendrick or other people Drake's been beefing with recently. As Drake had such a big mouth on socials (as usual). Sadly the 'shots' that were on here were very limited. We get a couple subtle ones on 'BRIAN STEEL' and then some more obvious ones on 'GIMME A HUG'. Even ... read more
When the singles dropped, I was very skeptical about this record. But now that I’ve given the full album a few spins, I can confidently say… the singles are probably the weakest songs here. And honestly, the critics are tripping. Thinking this album is too long? Be serious and shut your face, this is an incredible album and a perfect way to close out the trilogy.
Instrumentally, this record is stunning. The synths throughout this entire record are so rich and volumptuous. During ... read more
You can definitely tell the Little Mix girls are all incredibly talented, and it's great to see each of them explore their own sound in their solo careers. This is a fun and promising debut from Leigh-Anne. While it doesn’t break any new ground, the R&B and Afrobeats influences make for a smooth, enjoyable listen. Nothing revolutionary, but it’s definitely easy on the ears.
Tracklist: 69/100
Vibes: 70/100
Little Mix start things off on a pretty decent note. After coming together on X-Factor, the girls managed to build strong vocal chemistry, and that really shows on this debut. Their biggest strength lies in their group vocals, especially in the choruses, where they sound powerful and beautifully blended.
That said, the album definitely peaks early. The first three tracks are the only ones I find myself returning to. The rest ranges from okay to subpar.
Even if some of the songs feel basic or ... read more
I just know this man will one day drop an absolute masterpiece and that is enough to keep coming back to his records. But sadly, today isn't that day. While his voice is undeniably smooth and easy on the ears, it's mostly his song choices and lyricism that keep holding him back. The soulful R&B tracks on here are just too generic and kind of boring. And the ballads? They sound like they were written by a 15-year-old who just got their heart broken for the first time.
Maybe part ... read more
The Black Parade is pure perfection. As someone who never really dove deep into rock music, this album still stands out so vividly in my memory. My Chemical Romance struck the perfect balance between theatrical drama and genuinely great rock songwriting. The sound is big and emotional without tipping into Broadway territory and that’s what makes it so compelling.
Gerard Way’s vocals are phenomenal throughout, and the album’s exploration of death is handled with both intensity ... read more
Imagine cheating on Madeline Argy. I should give this guy a 0 for that alone. But unfortunately, I’m the type who tries to separate the art from the artist, as long as the music itself doesn’t showcase the artist’s bad behavior.
I used to think Central Cee stood out from the UK drill crowd. He showed more depth, a bit more personality and that made me like him more than a lot of other drill rappers. I still catch glimpses of that on this album, but with everything ... read more
EDIT (34 -> 19):
Yes I was too generous, the first time around. I guess I was still in the Christmas spirit.
Old review:
Realistically, I wouldn’t even bother reviewing this trap garbage. But I thought, let’s give Lil Baby one more chance. Spoiler: he didn’t deserve it.
Holy fuck, his voice is unbearable. The mixing on this album makes it borderline unlistenable. Even when he might have something meaningful to say, I can’t get past the delivery. It's all ... read more
The debut album of another British dance-pop artist is promising, but not quite there yet. I think some songs on here are definitely fun. Even though they might be borrowing from the "Brat sound", it's decent. At times she leans more into the EDM sound. I think this is a weaker and more generic sound for her. You just get forgettable David Guetta type tracks. The biggest example of this is 'Party People'.
I think the Eiffel 65 interpolation is unnecessary on ... read more
Even though there are a couple songs on here every Gen-Z kid probably sang and danced to, we have to admit... this album is a hot mess. Especially the lesser-known tracks… like ‘Take It To The Hole’, what the actual fuck is that? How did they even convince Busta Rhymes to jump on that trainwreck? It’s honestly one of the worst things I’ve ever heard in my entire life.
I’m actually impressed they found an audience for it... I guess kids will eat up anything. ... read more
Yup, the guy that covered Robyn on BGT.
He's another artist I used to listen to a lot when I was younger, mostly when I was in a sad mood. But honestly, I don't see how I ever thought these songs were sad to begin with. I mean the lyrical content is sometimes relatable or a littel sad, but the production on a bunch of these songs is just as if he's writing summer jams. His voice is strong and recognizable at times, but I think does fit the more ballad songs better than these ... read more
This album is played so much more than I expected holy moly... Anyway, as someone that used to be a sucker for Alec Benjamin in my teenage years... this isn't that great, is it? I'd say the bigger songs on here are... listenable, but not great at all. But the rest of the album is only to be described as dull.
It kinda feels like that kid that was really into Ed Sheeran in high school that actually had some potential, but was at the start of their own creative journey. The only ... read more
This entire record is definitely a small step up for Niall. I think the pop-rock vibe fits him better than the singer-songwriter tracks do. I still think his writing and vocal ability are subpar for me to really get into it. But it's technically not as important, as it's not as prominent as it is in singer-songwriter music. But it still causes a lack of personality to this record. This could literally be anyone. It feels like the reason this got any traction is because he's an ... read more
