CLEARING OUT MY SPIN LIST #10
As of recent I've been looking into more no wave music and been increasingly surprised as to how little music there is despite the influence the genre had on many other bands were influenced by no wave and the many good projects to come out of the genre (swans) but teenage jesus and the jerks is a prime example of no wave in the ways I mentioned.
The sound of this album is nothing new for no wave but it goes deeper into the genres punk influences than most ... read more

added this in like september last year when their last album came out and i really liked it and wanted to see the most acclaimed record of the band.
In the zeitgeist of 1980s post punk and a world (surprisingly) pre "the neverending story" The Chameleons were a sign of the times to come both in lyric and in sound, despite not reaching major popularity outside of the undeven after its time it remains "cult classic" status unlike some of their ... read more

Lost it when i saw the length but its cool
Universal beings is the kind of album needed for aoty in the sense that it forces you to engage with it instead of spoonfeeding you. It gives you blink and you miss it commentary guised by smooth jazz tunes. Tunes that are actually pretty good, when i began the album i thought it would be a repetitive boring mess but it is engaging and well thought out despite whats on the surface. Sure theyre are a couple pockets of the ... read more
A couple months months post ADP hype the revisionism on their music has begun. People saying they were always boring and the gimmick was really all they had to appeal to the mainstream and they'll eventually fade into irrelevance, and that may be true. But this still rocks.
And what that comes down to in it's simplest form is the groove. Yes it's technically interesting and you could deep dive every micro aspect of the record and hail ADP as the greatest musicians of all time ... read more
Okay guys please dont kill me i can explain.
Inferno comes a time where people need boards of canada the most, in times like these inferno indulges you in beauty without shying away from darkness but in the process i think it forgets what made BOC great in the first place. take track 1 prophecy at 1420 mhz, the track takes a very traditional IDM approach which is not a bad thing i like the track but its indicative of one of my main problems with the record which is the "traditional IDM ... read more
I like it but it's very much akin to elias ronnenfelts solo work rather than what id expect out of an iceage album (I only listened to the first one so my opinion might be outdated) my biggest gripe is it goes too indie rock sometimes (even though it is an indie rock album) it goes into the formulaic indie rock playbook the that I'm kinda tired of I'm just nitpicking since I do think it incorporates punk elements very well while maintaining the structure of the album. It may be ... read more

This took me a while to write but this album definitely needs a relisten so I'm thinking this will be outdated soon but whatever
Bob Dylan is an artist I am not at all educated in and that has become apparent when I heard highway 61 revisited. Track 1 "Like a rolling stone" led me in with a sense of security as to the little I know about Bob Dylan folk/blues rock made in the 60s which isn't a bad thing at all in fact I quite like the song ... read more

In the hissing of summer lawns is best represented by its cover in the sense that nothing is unknown, the storytelling/lyricism is absolutely on point in this record which seem to go at breakneck speed throughout almost the entire album even if it is a jazz and folk pop record. Which brings me to the instrumentation which is just beautiful, even on the songs I like less they can't be called bad each song brings you into the narrative and puts you beside ... read more
CLEARING OUT MY SPIN LIST #5
I have zero recollection of anything about this album, let alone being interested enough to say "I would like to listen to this" and adding to the spin list so I was in for a treat
'fin' is a confusing album. Maybe not confusing in the sounds themselves but in the way they are chosen to be portrayed with each other, which is seen immediately with the seven minute opener Depak Ine which is this really punchy beat that catches your attention ... read more

I've been wanting to do this one for awhile and was about to with inferno coming out (no I wasn't)
Music has the right to children is one I was very excited about considering it's acclaim and genre which I've been wanting to get more into. MHTRTC is an album that I would rather talk about in its whole than by track (even through I liked some more than others) I feel it some can't even be spoken about.
This album is truly an experience, ... read more

I have like 10 albums from January 1st and I looked at them but never listened lol so I kinda knew what to expect
When coming into "john" you know what to expect based off of everything the cover, titles and just the overall vibe that it gives you was seen from a mile away l, especially on track 1 Joseph which is this ambient, airy, lo fi cut that really sinks you into the album even though it is a little similar to other things I've heard but ... read more
CLEARING OUT MY SPIN LIST #2
Almost quit the entire thing when this came up but things like this are what I made this for listening to albums I would never listen to or added as jokes
I came into this expecting to hear the worst music I've ever heard but it's funny. Instead it's not the worst music I've ever heard and it's only funny sometimes. The record begins with songs that are really just okay now I thought I was getting laughably bad but these actually have ... read more

My spin list is long. I want to listen to a lot of music so if I see an album that even slightly interests me I just save it to the list. The problem is I now have 9 pages of albums to go through which is like 500 something I think but the point is some (most) of these albums I was never going to get to so I decided I would at least every once in a while click the randomizer button on my spin list and have it pick a random album for me to listen to and I must listen ... read more
The Mars ep represents some of the darkest sides of the no wave movement every tracked caked in noise and intrigues you with sparing it's lyrics for the right times but it even though this ep is enjoyable it's not really interesting past its surface of noise by track 4 its lost me and gave me all (what I thought was) all the substance it had until the last track which took it's noise and lyrics in stride and made for a well faired off closer. But even then the rest of the tracks ... read more
idk about this one
american football return again with another lp to furthen their dynasty of midwest emo and they do (?)
as someone who had never heard any of their other albums i thought i had an idea of what this would sound like but i was wrong.
and i was shown that immediately with track 1 man overboard which is this post rocky fulfilling large sound which sounds like it came out of a tv show but like a cool one. But the thing is thats the best song on the album, it dosent get any ... read more
It's missing a second vocalist and mediocre overpriced painting in the music videos
Basically new black midi
After the collapse of bm the members really only had one thing to do which is make more music. And while it's no secret Geordie greep came out with the new sound which is pretty much universally hailed as great the other members had something to prove leading up to my new band believe. Now this project is a different genre than bm but the progressiveness of the music still remains heavy even in folk. Even so you can definitely still hear bm in this one (especially ... read more
POMPEII // UTILITY has been one of my most looked forward to albums this year mostly because of the unfamiliarity. I've listened to earl before and not enjoyed his stuff that much other than solace but the reason I've been looking forward to this is MIKE which I've also never listened to but seeing he's under the trap/plugg genre excited me because Ive always thought especially on earls last albums he just doesn't mesh too well with the music his zombie rap didn't ... read more
