I can't really say anything here that would do this album any justice. Just listen to it.
A strong sophomore album. Not as cohesive as their debut, but that doesn't mean the songs are bad.
Legitimately one of their best albums. They packed 20 songs into less than an hour (including a solid rendition of The Rolling Stones classic "Paint It Black") and it's ALL good. True Sum 41 fans should have this on repeat for quite a while.
Killswitch hit the ground running with Howard Jones on vocals. This album is a great example of why metalcore was so popular.
They lost a little something by keeping the song's themes TOO cohesive.
Don't get me wrong—this album is still a modern classic, but it's not the best thing by MCR.
They try to have their cake and eat it too.
It's fast and loud but it's too shiny and clean.
They've put out worse.
The same formula as "American Idiot" but with less great songs.
Green Day's last attempt at perfection.
Tool's weakest album. The mythical level hype that the fans built up was too high to reach.
Are there great tracks on this? Hell yes.
"Pneuma" is legitimately one of Tool's best songs
...but the amount of filler on this is pretty ridiculous.
The best Killswitch Engage album without Howard Jones as the singer. Jesse Leach walked so future Killswitch albums could fly.
It was fresh when it dropped and it hasn't aged a day since. Howard's vocals + the tightness of the band behind him = one of the best metal albums released in the 21st century.
I wasn't a fan when this came out and I was part of the demographic that this was aimed towards. Looking back, this album pretty much did exactly what it tried to do: Get Post Malone noticed. It worked and I can't hate that.
Post Malone was in his bag on this. It wasn't perfect but everything on this album works well.
Not his best, not his worst. Feels like a cash grab more than an attempt at great music.
This was when BTMI hit that sweet spot where they could appeal to both sides of the coin: Their main fanbase and the mainstream audience—it had a little bit of everything.
