For Those I Love - For Those I Love
NR

A man with an obnoxious accent talks for 46 minutes while generic unrelated house music beats in the background.
Why are the critics eating this up?

Apparat - Krieg und Frieden (Music for Theatre)
NR

What a great cover- honestly one of my favorites ever.
The album matches the art extremely well, though the sound doesn't quite keep up in quality. It's a good album, don't get me wrong, though I was expecting a much stronger unit after such a great introduction.
The song "PV" which begins the second half of the album is one of my favorite songs ever made. It's a perfect track, and I just wish the rest of the record could have matched. There is a lot of potential with this sound but ... read more

Aphex Twin - Come to Daddy
NR

One of Richard's more consistent releases, the "Come To Daddy" EP helped launch him into the popularity he deserved of the late 90s. Largely due to the opening & title track, which is easily one of his most memorable, interesting, and intriguing tracks of all-time. Every song afterwards is fantastic, but none quite live up to the first until the song "IZ-US" which is also one of his best. It's a very psychedelic and brain-melting experience. In this relatively short EP, ... read more

Thom Yorke - ANIMA
NR

Thom Yorke's best solo project, by a landslide.
Anima contains some of his most impressive atmospheres and electronic melodies, with matching vocals and dark introspective lyrics. One of my personal most listened records of all-time, as each listen I find myself discovering some new little detail or perspective that allows for a slightly different experience.
Some of the tracks here are incredibly depressing, some are uplifting, some introspective and some utterly uncomfortable. Though the ... read more

Justin Bieber - Justice
NR

Were you all really expecting any sort of change?
Any sort of left turn?
It's the same as it always is. Mediocre pop music with little to no interest. And it always will be.
This is the reason I find it so difficult to listen to much of modern mainstream music. Though, I suppose mainstream music has always been a bit repetitive. Just feels as though it has gotten worse.
Terrible cover.
Why the MLK interlude? Really? Tasteless

Matt Elliott - Drinking Songs
NR

Drinking Songs by Matt Elliot is truly one of the most heart wrenching albums I have ever heard. Mostly containing songs dedicated to those lost at war, this record knows exactly how to get ahold of your emotions and control them as it pleases. Each slow track reveals itself gradually, pushing you towards the grandiose finale "The Maid We Messed" which I can easily say is one of my favorite songs of all-time. The sound takes a complete left turn and shows a more electronic drum & ... read more

Portishead - Dummy
NR

Some of the most consistent performances I've ever heard in my life. No song here tips the gentle balance the album creates, as each takes even a step up from the next and forms a beautiful unity. My favorite tracks change quite often, mainly because I can understand how one would view each song here as being the best. A truly remarkable experience, and one of the best trip hop albums ever made.

Keith Rowe & John Tilbury - Duos for Doris
NR

Duos For Doris... a true masterclass in electroacoustic improvisation, a genre with many great hits, and many even greater duds. Plenty of albums similar to this fail to keep me so intrigued throughout their long and dragging songs, though Duos For Doris is different. The clear meaning behind the album itself is enough to warrant attention, while the beautiful expression of thought that is displayed will keep you on the edge of your seat.
This is likely one of my favorite albums, and I expect ... read more

The Velvet Underground - White Light/White Heat
NR

Already been 2 weeks since I reviewed something? I guess time really does fly.
I love this album, it's experimental nature and the influence it has had on the entire music industry is astounding. Though if I'm honest, I do not find myself returning to it much, as I don't believe the tracks hold tremendous replay value. A great album, of course, but not one I find myself going out of my way to listen to very often. I appreciate it more for its influence than the actual song quality.

Animal Collective - Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished
NR

Animal Collective's debut album is one of the best Debut albums of all time.
It is incredibly psychedelic, uses great and consistent experimental sounds, and even the noise sections are enjoyable. A very unique experience. Glad they went on to continue blowing away the crowds.

Radiohead - OK Computer
NR

Personally:
Never seen the appeal of Radiohead. The only factor that puts this above other similar experimental rock albums is Thom Yorke's voice, but even that can be relatively inconsistent. It's a decent album, but not quite worth the incredible praise it receives. I believe Radiohead has better gems in there discography.

Black Dresses - Forever In Your Heart
NR

I find this album, past the first two tracks, to be largely uninteresting and repetitive. I find myself agreeing with Riskr's review greatly.
I can definitely see the appeal, but it isn't really for me.

Cosmilk - Sense of Space
NR

An immaculate AOTY user project.
A production value above others, with respectable stylistic choices flooding the EP. Very memorable songs, even including the interlude. Will be returning to this quite often.

Steve Moore - Analog Sensitivity
NR

Making good music but adding absolutely nothing of value, any experimentation or uniqueness, any true passion or interest,
lacking the fundamentals not obviously seen: the album. Very cool cover though!
