THIS DROPPED TONIGHT? WHAT THE FUCK
gimme a sec i need to hear three women sing chamber pop into my ears and then JRJRJRJR
Actual Review:
In my very (uninformed) humble opinion, there hasn't been a truly fantastic electroclash record I've enjoyed all the way through. For the most part, I get disinterested in the sound pretty quickly, only latching onto the tracks I enjoyed the most and ignoring the rest for the foreseeable future. The surface appeal remains apparent to me, but in ... read more
Directly contrasting the way of Black Midi and Geordie Greep's new solo career, BCNR have officially released their first studio album without lead singer Isaac Wood, and completely reworked their foundational sound in the process. Still progressive in nature, but more chamber pop and folky in direction, this stylistic shift frtom the band has been defined by a subtler approach to their songwriting and a more gently impassioned delivery style from the band's fervent frontwomen.

"If Double Trio was so good, then why isn't there a Double Trio 2?"
The humble By Storm-shaped Double Trio 2 in question:
Nav sounds like Juice Wrld if he got the talent sucked out of him like Space Jam
Is it even fair to call this frontloaded, I mean the first half sucks too, just maybe a bit less than the second I suppose? Seriously, WHO TF excited for this cornball in the big 20-25? Granted, I could probably muster more excitement for a new release from him than his delivery could ever aspire to convey, on songs that end way too early before a decent idea could have formed. Usually I don't go for such ... read more
We'll be watching your career with interest, The Orchestra. For now, at least.
Thanks to @qntnzzz for the rec!
Love the wonky vibes here that heavily radiate Aphex Twin, from the technical precision to the more low, ambient-oriented moments. As electronic music goes, it definitely succeds in feeling like a transient venture into a world all it's own, and is something I'm going to continue listening to in order to get a more fleshed out opinion on. As first impressions go, I kinda wish there was a bit more to chew on, but I'd say that what's here is ... read more
This is, like, the final evolution of AJJ or a group of similar caliber - an extremely expressive and visual concept album, told through a blend of folk and hardcore jams. Only I like the lead singer here WAY more, and the tunes rock to a higher degree I would say. It's also a more sincere attempt at a story, even if songs like "I Love You Like an Alcoholic" having tinges of dramatic irony, it still feels as if you've went along this grand journey by the end of the whole ... read more
WOW this kicks serious ass! "Mythical reel pull" as the kids say these days (At least I hope they do)
Some punchy grunge soup that contains accents of despondent 'gaze phenomena swimming about, with a mix of subtle and move screamier vocals doing their best to break through the instrumental walls of unwavering noise. It's trimmed of any possible fat, with a blistering 25-minute runtime just melting away with each passing song. I LOVE finding these obscure little projects in ... read more
Good intro, the rest of it falls apart.
I just binged Oasis' first three albums, thanks to a random hankering for some bri'ish pop, and I gotta be honest with myself here: this might be my favorite one out of the three.
"Be Here Now" has a somewhat notorious reputation for indirectly / directly marking the band's period from pop relevance, and would slowly but surely loom over them as their wonder years turned into a hankering to return to greener pastures. Or at least that's what Todd in the Shadows ... read more
Edit: (90 -> 93)
JFC it went EVEN higher.
Those last four songs are LITERALLY PERFECT, "Northwest zombie girl" is now one of my favorite songs ever made.
idgaf one of the best soundtracks to any game ever
Can't wait to craft my own tracklist to make this bearable, thanks for the Kendrick playlist carti!
But seriously, to keep it real, I enjoyed what you would call a "decent chunk" of songs on "Music", it just so happens that there's quite a bit more than a "decent chunk" of material here. Having the same amount of tracks as "Donuts" is certainly an interesting choice, one that makes more sense when you realize that people are probably just gonna ... read more
So glad nothing else of note dropping tonight πππ
Now, as someone with clipping's OTHER concept album etched into my top 5 albums of all time (that sounded so corny but we're rolling with it), hearing the first two singles and not loving them at first kinda made me worry about the rest of this project, and whether it could maintain what made the group so special for me. At first, it seemed like they were doing a hard shift and direction and not looking back, putting their ... read more
This feels like half of the
First ιθεΈε [Ichiko Aoba] album after hearing that name on this site for a couple years now, and I went in expecting some frankly beautiful shit. I didn't know the caliber of said beauty, but it became clear to me that my ears would be in for a treat.
More like a FUCKEN DESSERT PLATTER bcuz HOLYLYLYLLYLY FUCKE this thing is FANTASTIC! It's as if flowers have blossomed out of my ears, smiling and gleaming with radiant energy, as some transcendent nature folk blesses those same ... read more
