It shocks me to this day how good this album is. It should sound too silly, or not have enough substance, but it just manages to perfect every sound it attempts. Trying to fit this into one genre is just silly. The contrast between tracks like 70%, Dry land 2001, and The fish song are just too high to try and put it into one bubble. It's a little messy, but it's messy in a fun way, and every single song is incredible. Pretty much everyone I've shown this album to has found something they enjoy ... read more
I put off listening to this album for a long time. My Chemical Romance's reputation is that they're for emo losers, and I hadn't quite embraced my emo loser identity yet. However, after enough recommendations, I finally gave it a listen, and I am glad I did. My first listen was a time I didn't really listen to a ton of music, and this was probably the first album I ever heard and said "Wow, this really is perfect." It has absolutely none of the gripes I have with other emo music. It's ... read more
I find myself revisiting a lot of Taylor Swift's albums pretty regularly. When I first dived into her discography, I was excited for this listen. People apparently think pretty highly of it. However, this album is blandness given form. The lyrics by themselves are enough to make me cringe a bit, but the basic production is almost offensive to a point. While there are maybe 2 or 3 songs I can tolerate, this is my least favorite Taylor Swift album and I see it as more or less of a placeholder ... read more
100 Gecs continues their streak of dropping absolute bangers as they don't drop the album they promised would release in 2022. Three short, great tracks.
Favorite tracks: *Hey Big Man*, Runaway
Least favorite track: Torture Me
An absolute breath of fresh air in the new wave scene. It's ridiculous polish and ability to juggle so many things while still sounding outstanding is impressive, it's something most bands wouldn't even come close to. This was on replay for a long time when I first heard it, I just couldn't get over the fresh sound it provided. A little rough at some points, but highly recommended regardless.

Punisher is one of the most sincere and raw albums I've ever heard. Despite this being only her second album, Phoebe has perfected her sound on this record. The production is simple yet effective, creating an ethereal atmosphere that perfectly blends Phoebe's low, but passionate vocals with the simple, bare-bones instrumentals.
There are a lot of things that make this album unique, but its broad reliability is one of the best. Phoebe touches on topics that many of us feel, such as daddy ... read more
it's literally to pimp a butterfly. the album that really got me into music. deserves every bit of praise it gets and then some. anyone who calls this album overrated should not be trusted.

This album is tough for me. I think it's single power is great, most of the tracks on here are good individually, but as an album, I couldn't help but feel they flow together kind of weird. By the end, I was definitely bored by the sound, and re-listens did not change that. Maybe it was just me missing the sounds of "Folklore" and "Evermore", two personal favorites from Taylor. Also, some of these songs just have lazy parts. The "wake up screaming cause i dreamt you ... read more
While it is unique, a lot of the ideas here get a bit bland and uninteresting pretty fast. Also, it has a unique problem in having buildups that lead to nowhere, leaving me unsatisfied on some of the tracks. Bjork's vocals are great as always, and *some* of the experimentation pays off, so it is saved from being a bad album, but far from the likes of albums like Post and Vespertine.

Another album that I have absolutely nothing unique to contribute to the conversation for. Everyone knows how good this album is. Ridiculously consistent, emotional, and pleasant. Also, the first 3 tracks on this album is probably the best 3 track run of all time. One of the most timeless classics of all time, an absolute must-listen.

As my obsession with this album grows more and more, I really cannot find a single issue with a single song on this album. Such an incredible blend of the singalong and acoustic melodies of folk and the passionate, raw vocals and incredible instrumentation of punk rock. The way Against Me! took punk back to its roots in both sound and politics in a time where punk was almost dead makes them, to me, one of the most important punk bands of all time. Incredible, through and through.

An album that's almost too good at what it does. Bloom takes the Beach House formula to a whole new level, one that is on such an ethereal level that it's almost hard to stay awake during some of these incredibly relaxing songs. I've never heard a dream pop album that wraps me in a blanket the way Bloom does, a true mastery of an art form.
Favorite songs: *Myth*, Wild, Lazuli, Other People, The Hours, New Year, Wishes, Irene
Least favorite song: Troublemaker
Though it's nowhere near Against Me!'s most sonically diverse project, hearing Laura Jane Grace come to terms with her newfound identity over the course of 29 minutes is a unique, rich experience that not many other albums can offer. Through the "fuck you"s that this album has, there's plenty of moments where Laura hates herself as much as the world around her. There's literally a song called "FuckMyLife666". But the final track is perhaps the biggest "fuck you", ... read more
This album is weird. It is very much "whiny white guy complains about society", but what makes it so great is the way he complains about it. AJJ has a very unique tent of blending hyper-depressive lyrics with bleakly satirical elements, which is perhaps best shown on Knife Man. The big one that comes to mind is "You're your own irreplaceable human soul with your own understanding of what it means to suffer... and thats a huge... bummer!"

The ambitious debut album from Arcade Fire just so happens to be one of the best albums ever made. Though this album was fueled by the loss of several family members of the band, it still manages to hold some of the most anthemic, thrilling, and euphoric songs of the past few decades. Some of the songs are slow and melancholy, and some of them are intense and thrilling, but there is one thing that all the songs share: they are simply incredible. As Arcade Fire rapidly descends into indie band ... read more
Absolutely nothing unique to say about this album. It deserves every bit of praise it gets. An ambitious masterpiece that evokes just about every emotion available in the human psyche. One of the best albums of all time.

Cave World talks about important issues, but doesn't take itself too seriously. It's hard to find a balance between those two without sounding pretentious or overtly silly, but Viagra Boys toe the line perfectly. They expand their instrumental palette to a point where Viagra Boys create a truly unique sound with almost every song on the record. If I had to put it in a sentence: this album fucks. The most re-playable album released this year, easily.

2022 has been quite a great year for music, but nothing has come close to the future classic that Black Country, New Road put out early in the year. It cuts down a lot of the silliness that was on For The First Time and we see the band put all their energy into making a pure heart-punching project with borderline orgasmic climaxes. I desperately want this to be a 100/100, and it's one of the most refreshing projects put out this decade, but there's just a small issue I have with Snow Globes ... read more
The one and only flat-out zero out of zero album I've ever heard. The first couple of tracks prepared me for a painfully average album, but as it went on it just got worse and worse. I was never a fan of Chance's other albums to begin with, this was just an insulting slap in the face. There really isn't much I can say about it, it is an album with absolutely zero redeeming qualities that I cannot find one good thing to speak of.

While The Weeknd's ambition is impressive, Dawn FM feels somewhat messy, with several painfully average songs mixed in with some I'd even call bad. Though this album does have enough highlights to make it slightly above average, I don't see myself returning to it anytime soon.
