JPEGMAFIA - LP! (Offline Version)
90

The experimental production here is a major highlight, but Peggy’s rapping was also great too.

Danny Brown - Atrocity Exhibition
87

78 >> 87
it was just too experimental for during my first listen, but now I get it

Wu-Tang Clan - Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)
88

Day #25 of Listening to The Highest Rated Album From Every Genre
Today's Genre: Hardcore Hip Hop

Truly a spectacular project that helped pave the way for all of modern hip hop. I saw someone once say that rodeo was the biggest what-if in hip hop, and it got me thinking, what is another contender. Well in my opinion Enter the 36 Chambers blows rodeo out of the water.

Travis Scott - Rodeo
75

Yeah, this album reminded me that I don't like trap as much as most hip-hop fans. That being said there are some great tracks on Travis Scott's debut, but this album still didn't live up to the hype of one of "the foundation of modern trap"
:/
sorry

Hobo Johnson - Hobo Johnson Alienates His Fanbase
12

Where do I start. This might be one of the worst albums of all time. Not only is production basic, and almost like a shitty cargo cult of abstract hip hop, the rapping I think is the worst part. This mans voice sounds like the nerd emoji. And the lyrics oh the lyrics. "When I see her pick up litter it makes me wanna have a kid with her." Bro. Are we deadass. This was horrible. He literally just reads a socialist manifesto in his nasaly ass voice for six minutes. The funny part is that ... read more

Injury Reserve - By the Time I Get to Phoenix
85

While these songs aren’t the type that you would put on your playlist, the uniqueness of the production, and the meaningful lyricism perfect this album. By the Time I Get to Phoenix is one of the most experimental albums I’ve enjoyed in a while. I think that might say something about me but who knows.

Injury Reserve - Knees
94

What a heartbreaking song

The Roots - Things Fall Apart
86

What a classic, the storytelling, simple production, and countless features all combine into a major highlight in hip-hop history.

Boldy James & Sterling Toles - Manger on McNichols
90

Edit: 86 ->> 90
Ts so fire I got this on repeat

I'll say this again and again, Boldy James' performance is completely centred on his producers. If his producer is shit, the album will be shit (Like Murder During Drug Traffic). But if his producers are great, the album will be great (Like Bo Jackson, and TPOTIC). However, this album, I think may be an acception. It feels like, while Sterling's production is still outsanding, Boldy James' story telling and lyricism is ... read more

Mach-Hommy - HBO (Haitian Body Odor)
84

A great project from Mach-Hommy, again I would like to add this to my record collection but just like The GAT it’s a bajillion dollars. Anyways, this is a pretty standard drumless rap album, just a really good one.

82

Armand Hammer's rapping was slightly above average but it was The Alchemist’s production that really stood out to me.

The Notorious B.I.G. - Ready to Die
79

This wasn’t as good as people said it was gonna be. Biggie’s flow is unmatched, but the production was a bit disappointing guessing as this averages at an 89 and 92 from the critics. Still a good album though, definitely a classic an a monumental album in Hip-Hop history.

Lil Ugly Mane - MISTA THUG ISOLATION
83

Really great project, perfect for SpaceGhostPurrp fans.

A$AP Rocky - Don't Be Dumb
79

This album was good, I really enjoyed it. While the genre mixing was a bit awkward at times, this had so many bangers.

Nicki Minaj - Big Foot
9

You know what’s worse than a diss track from the wife of a rapist whose flow is as terrible as mollasses (see what I did there?) on a shitty beat? A diss track from the wife of a rapist whose flow is as terrible as mollasses on no fucking beat except the occasional Nicki Minaj animal noises. Yeah we should put her in a cage since she wanna act like an animal. Go fuck yourself Nicki.

Lil Ugly Mane - UNEVEN COMPROMISE
90

This genuinely might be one of the most ambitious, abstract projects I’ve enjoyed in a while. The first part of this EP melted my frontal lobe. After the whole 11 minute experience I had to sit down brain dead and process what had just happened.

Gorillaz - The Hardest Thing / Orange County
82

So we’re just releasing the whole fucking album through singles???

Taking Back Sunday - Cute Without the "E"
32

you’ve gotta be joking this shit is buns. they were playing this at the gym and I purposefully dropped the bar on my head

Earl Sweatshirt - Some Rap Songs
85

As Earl Sweatshirt escapes his odd future style, he enters a new just as unique and intriguing one.

Mos Def - Black on Both Sides
88

This is actually so good. As someone who’s only heard mos def before in features like on plastic beach or stars with beach, this guy is so enthusiastic and energetic when he’s not on a feature. It feels like he put his 110% into this album. This album absolutely lived up to all the hype. Now this guy with the alchemist would be a spectacular duo. If only they would fucking drop the album. Who knows with Don’t Be Dumb dropping tomorrow, Zel giving teasers for Strictly 4 Da ... read more
