Absolutely love catch the wind and tangerine puppet, but the rest isn’t too memorable. You can see the Guthrie influence.
Musically very accomplished and I enjoy listening to it but the lyrics to Ladies of the Road are creepy and a little alarming.
Unreal. In the best way possible, I’m upset that its possible to make stuff like this.
I mostly violently disagree with the claim that Bob Dylan wrote great songs but didn’t perform them well or fully realise their potential. But its hard to argue with that on this album. He doesn’t perform with any virtuosity or highlight the great aspects of a lot of the songs. Only one where his version is definitive from here is The Ballad of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest.
A little haunting. Incredible how two people’s voices come together so well.
Still not bad by any means, but lacks the punch, drive and melody that they’ll later express in Lines Redacted.
Yaay, friendly Beefheart. Very approachable, you can go up and pet it, it won’t bite.
This album traumatised me on mushrooms. I have no idea what to rate it. I wish the fish would stop looking at me.
Guilty pleasure. Except I play it very loud and stomp around the flat unapologetically.
I think it contributed to my ex’s decision to leave me.
Meek compared to the rest of their discography but probably way more enjoyable to the average listener.
Kind of a disappointing mid ground between the energetic and captivating accessibility of GT Ultra and the chaos of their earlier years. Nothing too much for me to love here.
I really love this EP. So what it sounds kinda like Led Zeppelin. Did I ask whether it was unique or breaching new creative ground? No. I asked whether it was good to listen to. I think it’s an incredibly good listen and the vocalist is insanely talented. Their appeal is similar, yet distinct.
They’re also not ripping off any specific songs and giving themselves writing credit which Zeppelin did quite frequently. Are modern bands with a distinct and obvious classic punk sound ... read more
I’m gonna come out and say it: Greta Van Fleet are actually very good. They’ve successfully refined and developed their own sound and whilst it’s not the most original thing to happen in music, it’s hugely enjoyable. Would be rating higher if it weren’t leaving a little more to be desired in the lyrics department. Tracks like My Way, Soon sound amazing but the lyrics are genuinely awful.
Look at this:

This would have probably made a really good single album, maybe around 40 minutes or something.
