An underwhelming follow-up to multi-love. a little too fuzzy for my liking
Still has the punchy little guitar bits, and Frances's voice is as awesome as ever, but Hop Along's album doesn't quite have the urgency of Painted Shut
A lot of chatter in recent years about folks saving country music from itself... Sturgill, Margo, Chris, and Jason among others. Add Kacey to this list. Although she may lack the lyrical sophistication of some of her contemporaries, her simple songwriting is elegant nonetheless. She takes some musical risks here as well that sound like what would’ve happened if Taylor Swift didn’t care about how popular she wanted to be. Great album from start to finish
A remarkably promising debut album. Haley shows of her strengths as both a minimalist artist and a more "conventional" indie rocker. However, she's at her best when it's just her and the guitar
Dacus continues to build on her remarkable debut with another great record full of unpredictable twists and turns from the first stanza all the way to the last. Her voice is one of a kind
Still one of the greatest, most under-appreciated folk records of all time
This record continues to grow on me
Edit: As I go through my favorite albums of the decade, I continue to fall further in love with this record. So punchy, and far and away the best album Parquet Courts has put out
