This band was on the cusp of something amazing. It's such a shame that they broke up before it they worked on this sound enough to make it their own. As it stands, The Lamb As Effigy is a beautiful, vicious, harrowing experience of album which unfortunately fails to escape its influences and flourish as its own project.
same great album, just a couple downgrades in terms of mixing
mixture of all time highlights for the beatles and some of their most mediocre material post-Help!
i think i understand why some people get so annoying about pink floyd now
i think yeule finally found their stride with this album. their texturally gorgeous production and soundscapes are still firmly intact, but now they're playing with guitars and shoegazey fuzz! there isn't one dud on this album in my opinion too. yeule consistently bangs out excellent tracks here!
my one pet peeve is that the final crescendo on aphex twin flame lacks the proper impact that i was expecting and longing for, which left a slightly sour taste in my mouth after i finished my first ... read more
serotonin ii is an excellent ambient-pop record. listening to that album made me even more excited to listen to glitch princess. and this album has not disappointed at all! yeule's consistency in terms of production is mind-blowing on this album, with not a single song that stops short of immaculate production. the textures here are so damn good and were really the standout aspects for me. the post-industrial and glitch elements also really work in this albums favour, creating a sort of ... read more
yeules debut album is incredible! a super effective and atmospheric ambient pop journey through some of the most beautiful synth soundscapes ive heard.
i like this idc i will say tho that their old songs in the new singing style is nowhere near as effective
i really liked this one! gira's vocal performance is terrifying as ever but jarboe is even more vocally present on this one compared to greed/holy money. jarboe absolutely knocks it out of the park on the songs 'In My Garden' and 'Blackmail', where her ghostly vocals mesh perfectly with the most gently played and texturally beautiful instrumentals to come out of swans so far.
in classic swans fashion, this album also has terrifying songs, for instance 'Like a Drug (Sha La La La)' and ... read more
the fact that this record exists is incredible to me, it sounds like its from the future even after being released for 40 years!
im not necessarily a suicidal person and i dont agree with much of the philosophical ideas put forward in this album, but man is it extremely affecting regardless. i wouldnt even say i love every song on here, but the atmosphere is so entrancing its unreal. seriously its an unbelievable, perfect first listen. it feels like it was made on another planet, or enchanted with some kind of ancient magic, or something.
this album single-handedly made kero kero bonito one of my favourite bands. im wearing my kkb shirt right now. fuck i love them.
probably my favourite live album ever. STACKED tracklist, impeccably performed songs which are unique but still as good, if not better than their studio counterparts (see easy easy and baby blue). god i love this album so much.
