This is an ok record, nothing more. I don't understand what TikTok creators see in this record and Jordan Ward, but he's not a revolutionary artist. I think the fact that this receives so much praise makes me want to dislike it more. FAMJAM4000 and IDC are good, the rest is pretty mid.
There's something missing from this record for it to be great. There are flashes of great music on here and then the rest is filled with some average feels-like-filler tracks. Devotion and Blades are some of my most streamed songs over the past like 6 months.
I thought that I had enjoyed this more when it first came out. Turns out it isn't very good in the end. Oh well, you're gonna do better next time glaive (I hope lol).
This has to be one of the most underrated record of the year. The 60's, 70's and 80's influences are omnipresent but they managed to do it in a way that is relevant to 2023. A nice, soft, easy listen pop/rock album. I love it!
I do have to agree with the community here; this thing is beautiful. I had never heard anything Sufjan ever released but this is going to be hard to beat. Everything seems so well put together.
Do I think this has fillerd? Yeah it does, and some of the features should’ve been reconsidered. But I like the groovy jazzy elements that he brings into this album. Not the best rapper but hey at least he did something different from other mid rappers.
I do have two major points to adress. The My Neck My Back sample is gutsy, it’s wild. And also, this album would’ve been a 10 if he had used the "BUT HERE COMES SEBASTIAN VETTEL" audio clip instead of nonstop Lewis ... read more
I liked Scaring The Hoes better. That being said, it’s still a good piece of work. I think that this needed a bit more… mess, a little more Atrocity Exhibition? Not that I want it to be the same, but yeah something was missing from being in the aoty conversations for me.
The fact that I didn’t dislike a K-Pop project says a lot about the quality of the record. It was actually a fun listen with a lot of interesting ideas. I still dislike the K-Pop world though.
It’s a shame that I can’t seem to find the not-deluxe version of this record. Up til’ the end of the not-bonus songs, this record was actually pretty enjoyable. My memory thought that I hadn’t enjoyed this back when I first heard it, but I guess my memory was wrong lol.
The bonus tracks on the other hand are pretty bad. They definitely are the forgettable part of this record. I could give this like 10 points higher if the OG version was available on Spotify.
You sure Lewis didn't copy/paste this from his last album? It sounds as bad as every song he's ever released. This is some of the most boring music I've heard all year. I don't know I much his voice is liked in the music community, but I personnally hate it as well, so nothing's going right in this record in my eyes.
I never really understood the hype around PinkPantheress tbh. I've heard most of the songs she's put out before this record and nothing really ever blew my mind, even Boy's A Liar This album isn't very different. It's fine but it doesn't feel like she's taking any major risks artistically.
I was never the biggest Mitski fan but I have to say that this isn't bad. There's some great highlights on this record and she sounds as good as ever. Definitely my favorite record of hers.
I'm genuinly wondering why they thought they needed to make another record. This is seriously ass. And why did these guys from different medias give this record 70? This is litteraly the most basic kind of music there is out there. Even the name god dammit.
This is just beautiful. It feels like listening to a Sigur Ros album but understanding a bit more of the lyrics. Susanne’s voice is amazing and most importantly fits perfectly with this genre of music.
I thought I originally enjoyed this more than I actually did. I found this album to be annoying and uninspired. The whole time I just heard a guy trying to sound like Prince badly.
I don't see how any songs on here really made the cut apart from maybe Never Felt So Alone, which does deserve the success and praise it is getting. Everything else sounds like a basic Alt Pop/RnB starter pack kit. I hope Euphoria's sound track was better than that.
I discovered Joy with Taking Things for Granted and while there isn't a song that feels better than that one on the rest of the record, I can say it's a decent indie pop/rock project. I like her voice a lot and fits the very laid back vibe of this album.
