This is borderline generic boring pop but with a little tiny twist that makes it a bit less corporate sounding. It’s still not great.
Yeah I didn't hear anything that blew my mind here. There are some decent moments but the highs aren't that high. That was my first PJ Harvey record, but the weirdness of her music doesn't work for me. That's a shame, I had high hopes.
It's an uneventful album to say the least. It's very safe, innofensive, and a bit unoriginal, but can still be fun at times. Glad to see the influence that artists like this can have in the rap game too. Travis found a great beat to work with.
Ok THIS is the album that I remembered disliking a lot. I'm kind of done with Kim Petras at this point. Her records suck.
This is as good as I can hope Kim Petras' music could get. It's not good, but from what I've heard from her, it might be as good as she can give us. I actually remembered this being even worse. She didn't need to add Unholy on here, it's one of the worst songs of all time...
Might not be as good as So Much Fun, but this record is quire a lot of fun. For what it is, it’s well produced and not too harsh of a listen. Expectations are exceeded for sure.
I don’t know if it’s the fact that I listened to Gunna’s album like 2 hours ago, but this sounds like peak rap right now. All jokes aside there are some great moments in this record and there’s a lot to appreciate.
I did not like 6 Feet Beneath the Moon and that was the only music I had heard from King Krule. I did not expect greatness, but I was somewhat surprised. Not meaning AOTY candidate, but I liked this much more.
Oh my god this SUCKS. The beats on here aren't that bad, and the production could be a lot worse, but holy shit Gunna might be the most boring/monotone rapper in the history of music. I've never heard somebody care so little about the way that they present their craft. If only his lyrics were any good it could be saved a bit but dang they're not much better. And can somebody explain why and how fukumean ended up so popular? It's not good, what is it about that specific song that makes it ... read more
Came into this record with no expectations at all and they didn't disappoint. I hadn't enjoyed an album in this genre of music in a while, and I can say that this has been a very enjoyable listening experience. Those last two songs especially hit so damn hard.
I expected worse. I don't like the poppier tracks on here, I actually despise them, but the singer-songwriter ones, the one when it feels like he's in his feels, are actually much more enjoyable. He's not as good as Harry though , that's for sure.
I like this record for the same reasons that I liked slowthai’s UGLY. It’s a good mashup of punk, hip-hop and pop. I just like it slightly less than UGLY. But it’s still a great surprise
The fact that Fantano gave this a 9 is insane but also logical. The sounds on this LP come from all around the globe and diversifies from a traditional Afrobeats sound that can be generic at times. It has its moments, but it’s just not enough for me.
There are some good moments and some not as good moments. I do believe that it’s overrated by this community, but I can somehow understand why.
Everything after Hummingbird (apart fron Nonviolent Communications) is pretty average imo. The start of the record is solid enough to give it a decent score.
This rating is based on my listening experience and appreciation. While I do recognize that there are some great musicians apart of this band, and that there is a lot to like for somebody looking for a good metal album, it's just not my cup of tea. Listened to it, happy I did, but won't come back to it. With better vocals, I can see myself liking this record a lot more, but that's what they went with and a lot of people seem to enjoy it, so my opinion doesn't really matter I guess lol. The cover of this album represents exactly what is going on during the 35 minutes of music. This is an interesting project from a very interesting artist. That last song sounds amazing, and it makes 6 minutes feel like 3 honestly.
I don't think there's a song on here that can compete with their biggest hits. That being said, this might be their most concise effort. You can hear in the music and specifically in Dave's voice and lyrics that there is a ton of emotion in every track. And the more the album progresses, the more you hear it. That ending is brutal (in a good way).
I've genuinly heard worse from YB. This is not good, don't get me wrong. It's as annoying as ever and as repetetive as his last and next project. But he's done worse for sure.
