Long before Frank Sinatra made his Duets album, Joni Mitchell cast a variety of name singers in prominent roles for the songs on Chalk Mark in a Rainstorm.
Alluring as its surface is, though, this album doesn’t invite repeated listenings; in that sense, Chalk Mark in a Rain Storm is all too aptly named, for its pleasures simply wash away with time.
Liked a couple songs but most of this offering from Joni was just fine.

The best songs on here thrive in the synthy atmosphere Joni has created, whereas the worst ones are grating on the listener's ears.
Another Experiment In Failure For 80's Joni Mitchell
This is just the same test of trying to make herself more pop friendly she did on Dog Eat Dog which was also terrible, granted this one is better as she seems to realise towards the end of the album that maybe she should go back to the acoustic guitar and create some beautiful and personal songs like on the final song here A Bird That Whistles (Arrangement of the Traditional Work "Corrina, Corrina").
