Funcrusher Plus demands intense concentration, but also rewards it, and its advancement of hip-hop as an art form is still being felt. It's difficult, challenging music, to be sure, and it's equally far ahead of its time.
Underground classic defined!
This album from the American trio Company Flow, released in July 1997, has been on my mind for quite a long time to listen to it due to the high reputation it has when it comes to independent hip-hop releases. The artwork is certainly an iconic one to look at as well, managing to be eye-catching too.
Honestly, it's understandable to see why this album has the reputation it has since it has so much going for it that makes it among the top-tier of the genre.

Decided to give this a relisten, and it sounds even better than I remember. EL-P and Big Jus rap a certain way that nobody around that time was rapping like. With that being said, the rapping is incredible. EL and Jus flow on every track with ease, in a way that EL and Jus do better than anybody (besides maybe Cannibal Ox ig). This is an excellent album from Company Flow, featuring production from El-P. had some good moments but also some mid to bad moments too. 8 steps to perfection, last good sleep, and info kill II are my picks for best songs. the rest of the tracks are around the 7 range except for the outliers that are 89.9 detrimental, vital nerve, and the fire in which you burn. all of those are the worst on the album, with 89.9 specifically being terrible. alright album, very dated.
