As long as they keep releasing albums like Incarnate, Killswitch Engage won't be bidding farewell anytime soon.
With Incarnate, Killswitch Engage have been able to recapture the lightening they had when they wrote End Of Heartache but have altered and modified the core sound so subtly that it sounds like an entirely new, re-invigorated band.
Their second album since the return of original vocalist Jesse Leach, Incarnate picks up where 2013’s Disarm the Descent left off, with the Massachusetts quintet continuing to refine and redefine their attack.
Metalcore overlords conjure light from the depths.
As a whole, Incarnate improves on the creativity and restlessness offered by Disarm the Descent. There is more ambition, confidence and passion here.
Incarnate is rated ''Good'', in my opinion, due to it being 62.5% relistenable.
Nerd Breakdown:
Ratio -
I view a masterpiece as 80% relistenable (8/10). Since AOTY goes to 100, I have to account for this by dividing 80 by 100. Giving me 0.80.
Out of 12 Total Songs -
1 was Skipped (Each equals 0.0)
7 were Good Album Songs (Each equals 0.5)
4 were Liked Songs I would go out of my way to listen to again. (Each equals 1.0)
I then use this formula:

I can tell they were trying to go for a bigger, "grander" sound with this album, but honestly they work much better when they're just making hard hitting bangers. It's really solid though, nothing crazy, no must-listen standouts, but every song is at least pretty good and there are more than a few great choruses. A tiny bit longer than it needs to be but hardly bloated.
Edit 63-48: This album is just utter and complete mediocrity, I didn't move a muscle, or feel anything during this album other than pure and utter boredom. At least the second ST had "Starting Over", but this doesn't have any good songs. The reason I don't have this any further is because this album is competently produced, there's just no soul to be found in this record.

Seven albums in, and Killswitch Engage is still kicking. The album is a mixed bag, to be sure. It has some fantastic moments, arguably some of the better of the band's entire discography (the track "Hate By Design" appears to be the most popular song on the album for a very valid reason).
The production remains consistently solid, with the guitars actually packing a bit more punch than they did on their previous album. Overall, the instrumentation is consistent as well, bringing ... read more
