The Observer
Of all 2008's female vocalists, none is as great as this one.

19 indeed boasts several distinct sounds by which Adele is given to do her thing. These are utilized quite harmoniously to fit her powerhouse vocal delivery, a stirring combination of her diverse influences ranging from the Cure’s Robert Smith to Philly soul queen Jill Scott to legendary rhythm ‘n’ folk chanteuse Karen Dalton.

The Irish Times
Adele has the songs as much as the delivery. A true find.
80
Q Magazine
Adele's songs possess an ageless classification.

NOW Magazine
She’s often at her best alone with an acoustic guitar instead of ornamented with retro R&B references. It’s easy to want to dislike something that the UK press, Perez Hilton and Kanye West are telling you to like, but Adele shows some real talent.
80
Mojo
She has the vocal talent of a young Alison Moyet, and thankfully this debut lives up to expectations.

Entertainment Weekly
Adele’s songs aren’t as sharp as Duffy’s. Still, her singing throughout is a thing to behold.

It may not be particularly original or challenging, but there’s enough positive signs here to bode extremely well for the future. The sound of 2008? And beyond, we’d imagine.

AllMusic

19 is a fleshed-out stunning portrayal of a young woman with a talent beyond her years who deserves immense credit for a unique style that never fails. A beyond stellar debut in both quality and originality.

60
Slant Magazine
If nothing else, her delivery signals something worth keeping both an eye and ear on.
60
Rolling Stone

Here’s hoping the girl’s storytelling will one day be as interesting as her phrasing.

60
DIY
It’s a shame that the record doesn’t seem to allow Adele to act her age: these feel like songs written for someone at least ten years older, if not more.
60
The Independent

19 is a passably decent debut, but it could have been so much more by being so much less anticipated.

60
Drowned in Sound
The co-writes – not as many as you might’ve expected – generally boom from the speakers. The self-penned efforts are bare-boned, erratically excellent but frustratingly blighted by Adele’s penchant for going beyond her capabilities as a vocalist.
50
Under the Radar

Despite Adele's striking vocals--the girl can sing--19 isn't mining any new territory.

50
SPIN
She represents a highly commercial compromise between Amy Winehouse’s genuine soul danger and James Blunt’s shlocky pop safety.
50
Gigwise
The record is all the more disappointing because of what she’s capable of.
50
NME

It’s clear that, for all the hype, Adele is not yet ready to produce an album of sufficient depth to match her voice.

40
The Guardian
There is scant emotional heft behind Adele's prodigiously rich voice, little bite to her songwriting.
40
Uncut
Debut from this year's Girl Most Likely To, heir presumptive to Amy Winehouse.

Cito como exemplos o arranjo de Best for Last, o cover lindíssimo de Make You Feel My Love, a temática do amor masoquista de Right as Rain e Cold Shoulder (nada me tira da cabeça ... read more

I thinks it’s a pretty good pop album but this definitely is her worst album which doesn’t mean it’s bad since it’s Adele we are talking about, the song writing is alright-good I would say the same for the production, the singing is fantastic as usual for Adele, this record is good but it doesn’t give me what I’m looking for when listening to Adele but it still is good, that’s why I came to the conclusion that it deserves a 6,5/10

Para empezar este album es muy minimalista y creo que esto es justo lo que le juega en contra, la voz de Adele es inigualable, pero las canciones llegan a aburrir
