Breakout‘s best tunes let Cyrus be feisty without graduating to Avril-like levels of petulance.
While Breakout isn't as much of a breakthrough as it could be, it still moves Miley closer to an identity and career outside of Hannah.
With Breakout, Disney's queen bee finally has a sophisticated pop record under her own name, and she's venting the frustrations of a teen who's too grown-up to submit to her parents, teachers or anyone else.
Breakout isn’t fun enough or accomplished enough to really excite any segment of her fan base; rather, it’s just enjoyable enough and shows just enough flashes of maturation and skill to halt doubts regarding Cyrus’s future.

For what I want to say is a very unique and imaginative pop album, this sure did kinda bore me. Perhaps the flavour of late 2000s pop doesn’t taste very good to me, or maybe Miley just sounds like a robot. Either way, not too keen on her vocals. I will admit the instrumentals were very catchy and I got the impression that this was a really well made album, with some strong ideas, I just didn’t really connect with it.
Unexpectedly, I also like this a lot. 'Breakout' isn't cohesive by any means, but Miley surprises with the instrumentation on the ballads here. Besides, the hit singles are well produced enough to become really catchy. The remaining songs are also solid, with just one exception. Impressive.
Look I LOVEEEEEEE Miley Cyrus and I have a crush on her but this was kinda buns ngl. I have this on CD but yea it’s gonna get sold for sure. Early Miley was not the best tbh
Best Song: Fly On The Wall (Best Aspect: It’s lowk peak, it’s preppy and it’s funny!!)
This album is kinda bad but slightly better than her previous album, my fav track: Fly On the Wall
an improvement on Meet Miley Cyrus, with better production and singing, but unfortunately still has a handful of dud tracks.
73/100
favs: the driveway
A natural progression of her sound as an actual artist and not a Disney actress. It’s more teen pop oriented than Meet Miley Cyrus, and actually showcases a bit of artistry. It’s pretty on par with the Hannah Montana soundtracks though, and still doesn’t have that star power needed to progress her solo career. I do enjoy this album, but it gets weaker as it goes on. Solid album, but could be so much better if they actually put in effort. My favorites are 7 Things, Full Circle, ... read more
